A man was detained at Saturday at a Texas airport after trying to go through a security checkpoint with explosives in his carry-on, officials said.

The suspect is active military and the explosives were in military-grade wrapping, police told the Houston Chronicle. The explosives were spotted by Transportation Security Administration officers when his bag went through the X-ray machine at the Midland International Airport in Midland, Texas.

The man was stopped at the checkpoint around 9 a.m. and taken into FBI custody. He identified himself as being active in the military and said he’d been in town visiting relatives and was on his way back to his base in North Carolina, police said.

The terminal was evacuated and the checkpoint shut down for an hour while the item was investigated and removed.

A bomb-sniffing dog was brought in to assist with the investigation, authorities said.

A city of Midland spokeswoman told the Associated Press said the specific grade of the explosives won’t be known until after testing.

An FBI spokesperson would not release the man’s name but confirmed he was being held by officials, the Chronicle reported.

Is this story even legitimate or just picked up on the wire without being verified? Wouldn’t the
specific grade of the explosives be written on the Military wrapper? How else would the military supply house get the correct explosives to the guys/girls on the front lines? They can not open each box individually before they send out.

What do you mean ‘legitimacy’? Yes, this did happen here at MAF and they are not disclosing much information. The local news has been unable to get any more information about the arrest. It is odd not to at least hear ‘something’. There are lots of rumors going around but nothing is validated.

Heard a tv report that said the individual was a Sergeant First Class (SFC/E-7) hmmmmmmm an E7 thats been in at least 12 yrs plus my best guess….Sounds to much like a set up to discredit the military more and make the TSA look like the good SS that Barry wants us to beleive.

Edward Bernays, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ8ZvYNlxiM use the fear of the masses (created by tv,radio and newspaper propaganda) to control their actions. You see it everywhere. You only hear the word “Democracy”, and people accept it, despite the Constitution saying we are a “republic”. You only hear “United States”, despite that being a “foreign nation” with regards to “America” (See Hooven, Allison, v Evatt). You only hear about how Federal “statute” applies to the 50 states with WHATEVER “statute” Congress writes, never once questioning how they have the power to do so when the Constitution says they have none. You THINK you know the US Constitution, because the “government” schools, using “government” books, TOLD you what it means.

Evacuated the whole area did they? So was there even a detonator or just some explosive material? With nothing to detonate it it would be as dangerous as a stick of butter but its always “if in doubt, panic” and with ignorance so pervasive thats the rest of the story. And TSA workers are union bottom of the barrel employees. The police always exaggerate the heck out of situations like this. So the real story here is that it stinks and the absent details are the real as yet untold story

Yeah, but you have to be careful. I suspected the guy being muslim and he probably isn’t. At least with a name like Atwater, he probably isn’t. But he still could be I guess.

I was expecting the typical muslim nut-job. But I was wrong. Profiling has a place though and is not something to be ignored by the authorities. I just can’t agree that a USA Grandmother wearing Depends needs to be considered the same threat level as a younger foreign born Muslim flying to or from or through the USA. Probability and predictability. The irony to all this is here recently the screening process was/or is supposed to be relaxed for the military on official travel . That may need to be looked at again. Unfortunately.

I think its a setup. They are preparing people for something getting through. It’s like a chess game. They can cause something to go wrong in any of the situations that they have set up for a crisis.

Don’t be surprised if the real intentions would be to shut down the internet and apply some cult style
avenges towards society. Rememeber how hitler and stalin rounded up people and made the hit list.
Evil could be here to roost in its own way any day.

They use the enviromental technique as the new communist program to control the land and people. The progressives and illuminati have laid out the plan and are now implementing the plan.

People don’t want to come to this reality. Most people don’t even want to talk about it and they probably know this is their chance. We are not special people. We are more of a nusiance on the new world order scale.

If he was a serviceman, then he was a citizen. If he was a citizen, then he has an irrefutable right to keep and bear arms. They might be able to prevent them from travelling on the plane with him, but they have no right whatsoever to detain him. Another case of government overstepping its constitutional authority, and judges, the executive, and congress have all participated in this illegal action.

Why did they order the evacuation of the airport? In previous cases dealing with Americans, the government armed the bomb and dropped it directly on them, without trial or legal representation. Well, maybe it wasn’t the entire government, but just Barack “Barry Soetoro” Obama posing as president and acting in violation of The Constitution of the United States of America. Oh, and a Congress that refused to impeach him over it.

If we allow this to stand, we allow the government the right to bomb you in your home tomorrow, perhaps merely for you voting record.
