Sex Strike Brings Peace in Philippines

On the often lawless southern Philippines island of Mindanao, fighting among villages brought daily violence and economic strife. UNHCR reports that the violence there ended in July, after women in the rural Dado village organized a sex strike to bring an end to conflict in the area:

“Fighting had been common on Mindanao Island since the early 1970s, spearheaded by a separatist rebellion, with about 100,000 villagers displaced by the unrest in 2008.
The United Nations refugee agency helped settle these villagers by providing the necessary resources for self-sufficiency, but fighting continued to flare up when residents of one village, Dado, had to pass through two others to get to a regional market.”
The idea of the sex strike was reportedly conceived by a group of women who had set up a sewing business that was unable to deliver their products because violence closed the roads between villages. New York Post:
“The sewing group’s leader, Hasna Kandatu, said they warned their husbands they would be cut off from sex if they continued causing trouble.
‘If you go there [to fight], you won’t be able to come back. I won’t accept you,’ Kandatu recalled telling her husband, in a video on the UNHCR website.
Her husband, Lengs Kupong, recalled his wife telling him, ‘If you do bad things, you will be cut off, here,” he said, motioning below his waist.’”
The denied husbands then organized, and called on key village leaders to encourage others who continued the fighting, to stop. At the moment, the strategy seems to have worked as fighting has stopped and the road has been reopened. UNHRC says that the strike not only brought peace, but a renewed sense of empowerment, as villagers now can earn a living instead of relying food aid.

I think the difference in the cultures is that the Filipinos are sincerely religious and more civilized.
The bad Musim men, as I have seen written, use rape as punishment for women in general. I don’t believe that for a moment… they are just simply h o r n y.

Ancient Iceland had its’ share of feuds and violence.
There is a saga where a wife was extremely angry at her husband. Rightly or wrongly he had humiliated her. She ended up killing him. She didn’t physically assault him in any way. She didn’t poison him. She didn’t say or not say anything against him that cause him to be killed. She didn’t kill him by sending a third party against him.
So you figure your odds of living a long & prosperous life when not living by the golden rule.

As I posted earlier, this is a BS story that NOT ONCE mentioned that fact. The Philippino are about 95% Catholic, And the muslims are a very small sect, but cause the bulk of the problems in that region.

Posted on September 17, 2011 at 7:01pmThere are two groups of men in the Middle East, those with wives & those without. A significant proportion of men in the Middle East have no prospect of having a wife due to corrupt government along with poor economic policy (central planning or control.
You can‘t withhold what the latter already don’t have.
But the former could be made to be less warlike & liberalize the economy if enough women work in concert. That is a big “IF”.
But if an approach like the Saudi women to drive were to switch approaches and withhold sex, it would work. It would take several months.
Some women would get beaten up & some would die. But not all women can be beaten with impunity. Although the “belong” to the man’s family, beating the wrong woman can bring her family against the other. Both the women and men know it. Many women form well off or otherwise influential families could strike and not risk physical threats.
It would be a damn sight better than having a war. We have about 12 to 24 months to pull this off.

At the heart of Islam is the concept that the Umma, the community of Muslims, is superior to all other peoples and is entitled to reduce the non-Muslims to the condition of Dhimmi, with higher taxes, inferior legal rights and daily degradations. No non-Muslim is free or safe in a Muslim community unless you are content to live on your knees treated as a sub-human. No surprise that the unconquered non-Muslims fight to defend their lives. Just as mankind has largely abolished the legitimacy of the concepts of slavery and cannibalism, mankind has to abolish the concept that one group like the Umma have the right to assume a superior legal status to other human beings. Until then the choice is to fight back or live in a degraded state.

Meanwhile, Troy and Greece have been battling over Helen, the “face that launched a thousand ships” (thank you, Christopher Marlowe).
The attraction between men and women is a powerful thing, and in this case, it sounds like the ladies knew how to route the situation to their advantage.
Nicely said, Chuck! And Jakartaman, you’d be amazed at what a Tea Party member might have on their bookshelves. We may not be members of the “intellectual elite” as imagined up by the liberals, but hey – I’ll live. And scorn them and continue to read. : )

I could have told you Mindanao has an elevated population of Muslims. When we lived in Kuwait our maid was from there. Her husband was Muslim and she a Christian. He would beat her quite often until she left and came to Kuwait to work. Her children remained there with her parents. Sad, sad story.
