Sexist? German Mayor Creates Parking Spaces for Men Only

One wonders how feminists will respond to this one: A small town is Germany has created gender-specific parking spots. The action, especially in this day-and-age, is certainly bound to create some controversy. According to Triberg Mayor Gallus Strobel, the efforts to designate these spots, which are said to be tougher to get into, will “challenge political correctness.”

But that’s not the only thing that Strobel is looking to put to the test. In his view, men are more likely to enjoy the purportedly adventurous task of pulling into a more difficult parking spot. Plus, he believes they are generally better at doing so.

The German web site The Local has more about these controversial spots:

Unlike the 12 spaces set aside for women, which are wider, well-lit, and closer to the exit, the men’s spaces require the driver to pull in at an angle, and avoid hitting cement pillars. They are an “attraction” for any ambitious driver, Strobel told the daily Süddeutsche Zeitung.

“But men are, as a rule, a little better at such challenges,” he told the paper.

Before people get too agitated by this comment, which some will certainly see as sexist, consider that Strobel clarified his views, inviting women to take the challenge and admitting — gasp — that “there are also great women drivers!” Oddly, he also claims that he’s received positive feedback thus far.

“Strobel said that the move was good advertising for his town, and that one man emailed him saying he would travel there just to test himself at parking,” The Local continues.

MSNBC has more regarding motivation for the gendered parking spots:

The mayor told Focus the parking policy is, above all, a publicity stunt to draw tourists’ attention to the idyllic town of Triberg.

“Our city spends about 50,000 euros every year for marketing, and the parking action may have cost us 50 euros,” Strobel told Focus.

The spaces are marked by standard gender symbols to showcase which are for men and which are for women.

German men are not yet as sissy-fied as American men. They still think like men, and women think like women. We’re the ones who are mixed up.

Oh like any real woman cares what some German dude does…..has anyone seen a typical German porn movie? They spend more time eating waste material from each others hinterlands than actually having relations of one contorted sort or another. The last such German movie title I saw plastered on a blue movie theater marquee was when I was walking down a street in Munich looking for a restaurant that served something actually edible…….so as I was sitting there in a Kentucky Fried Chicken…….across the street they were playing a movie called “Haste Makes Waste”…..I supposed then as I do now…that Haste is some German fellows first name…..and what little German I do know language wise….I don’t think it rhymes with waste.

What about the “Hen pecked Husband”, who lets his wife tell him what to/not to do, and when/ where/ and how to do it? Does HE get deemed a bad driver for obeying her screaming and condemnations,& by listening to her, he smashes 3 or more cars- or does she? What am I saying? Its ALWAYS the man’s fault, right? He’s responsible for her screw-ups!

Yeah, that is why when I go into a parking garage the men can’t park straight and usually are parked crooked in the spot. It is a know fact women are more apt to park evenly in a parking spot. Also, I was able to back into a parking space usually on the first try more often then men, because I used my outside mirror and the line to guage my location, where men use the width of the space and look straight back.

Besides he can’t restrict women from parking anywhere especially if they are paying customers. I’d like to plant a camera just to see how well men do.

Best we could do in America is just label some spots as “challenging” or “for competent drivers only” versus the rest of the spots to avoid the obvious lawsuit by someone looking for a get rich quick scheme.
Require a parking/driving test to get a sticker for that area.
Leave gender out of the description and see where the data takes you.
Seems there would have to be a “bonus” to achieve it you got the sticker though.

I am “allowed” to park in a dark area with small spaces, a looong way from the entrance for WHAT?
    Just to prove I CAN?
Very few men take up real challenges in America anymore.
You’d have to offer 10% off at the vending machine or next manicure to get their interest.

I wonder if this would fly here???
Just a fun fact for what I do to make myself feel better and make a point: When I see those ridiculous parking spaces with signs that they are for eco-friendly cars in various “Progressive” neighborhoods, I make a point of parking there. There aren’t legally designated like handicapped spaces just some wacky libs spreading there bull manure in places they have NO business spreading it.

I’ve often thought that, especially in parking garages, there should be a preference of some kind to allow women to park in safer areas, nearer the elevator/stairs, etc.

The added sport of tight spaces, as it were, for the men is just a bonus.

Then they added a “space” for women on the other-side of the complex, in an olf abbandon supermarket parking-lot, including baskets…”EEEEEEEAAAAAAh!!!“ ”BAMM!“ ”POW!“ ”KRUNCH!”
      “SKRUUUUUUNCH!…tinkle–tinkle–tinkle–SPLAAAAT!” … .

Makes sense to me, after all we have many ‘pregnant’ lady spots all over now. Shouldn’t we have some for men too?

Are their special parking for homosexuals and transgenders? Do the top partners park in the men area and the women actors park in the women parking places?

    Where would Chaz Bono park?

Chaz still has his female exterior part between “its” legs but Chaz’s breasts/uterus are removed.

That makes Chaz FEMALE because women with uterine/breast cancer who have breasts/uterus removed are STILL WOMEN.

Well, why not? We have gender specific restrooms, why not parking spaces. Of course, women’s libbers will be AGHAST, but who cares, ha, ha! In all seriousness however, and even though there are great woman drivers out there, generally speaking, I think it could be argued that men would fare better with the challenge of getting in and out of tight parking spaces than women. So what? Women surpass men in some areas and visa-versa. And who would complain about the fact that the women’s parking area is better lit, closer to exits and easier to navigate? Non-issue!

Well he is obviously a bigot. He made no special parking for men who think they are women, and women who think they are men. Next they will shut it off so birds cannot get in there. Ruin the habitats then block them from using the space they used to dwell.
