SF Giants Manager Calls Radio Host Racist for Illegal Immigrant Tweet

San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy criticized a nationally syndicated radio host Sunday for what he said was a “racist” comment about San Francisco reliever Ramon Ramirez. SFGate.com reports on Bochy’s comments:

“Forget the remarks about me,’ Bochy said. ‘That doesn’t bother me. For a guy to make a racist comment like that and have the ear of so many people, that bothers me. I can defend myself as a coward. I don’t know if you can defend yourself making a racist comment.’

Bochy added he had no idea who Bruno was.”

Radio host Tony Bruno referred to Ramirez as an “illegal alien.“ He also called Bochy a ”coward” in a Twitter post following Friday night’s benches-clearing brawl between the Phillies and Giants.

From @TonyBrunoShow:

gutless #!@%*# Giants. Bochy is a coward for  having his illegal alien pitcher hit a guy since mighty Frisco boys .

The mayhem came after Ramirez plunked Shane Victorino in the lower back in the sixth inning of the Phillies’ 9-2 victory.

SF Giants Manager Calls Radio Host Racist for Illegal Immigrant TweetBruno’s show is broadcast on local station KNBR 1050 AM. He later deleted his tweet and apologized for his “stupid and insensitive” post.

Ramirez is from the Dominican Republic. He has declined to discuss the brawl but said Sunday he is in the U.S. legally and wouldn’t be able to work in the major leagues otherwise.

“I’m not interested in what he thinks about me,” Ramirez said in a Spanish interview with The Associated Press and a Spanish reporter before the finale of the Giants’ four-game series with Philadelphia. “I’m not interested in what he has to say. I don’t need to pay attention to what he has to say about me. A lot of people say things about me. I know who I am. How would I be able to work here if I were an illegal? He put it on the Internet? I can’t believe that.”

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel and Victorino felt Ramirez hit the center fielder on purpose. The pitcher, Victorino and Giants catcher Eli Whiteside were ejected after the fracas — and Bochy expects to hear from Major League Baseball as soon as Monday regarding any suspensions.

“It’s not like somebody went out to the mound,” Bochy said of visiting Ramirez or instructing him to plunk Victorino. “He just walked a guy. There’s no communication there. The next pitch hit Victorino. It happened so fast. We were as surprised as anybody to be honest.”

Ramirez is ready to move forward — from the brawl and Bruno’s comments.

SF Giants Manager Calls Radio Host Racist for Illegal Immigrant Tweet“Everyone says what they feel in their heart,” Ramirez said. “But I feel that’s not right.”

On his Facebook page, Bruno addressed his remarks.

“My stupid and insensitive twitter post was up less than one minute before I realized it was caustic,” Bruno said. “It was removed immediately and I typed a quick apology on twitter and here. Since I was doing my live radio show, I apologized more emphatically on the air, and the podcast is available on my website (tonybrunoshow.com, hour 3) for those who choose to actually get some facts to go along with the hearsay or bloggers who spread falsehoods about my apology not being ‘sincere.’”

Facebook commenters were not too forgiving.

Liked 16 times: “hope to never have to hear you again on KNBR,” said one commenter. One of the few comments I could find to quote without swearwords.

To My Two Cents – it’s one thing to work in a “normal” nine to five job as an illegal alien. It’s a whole different kettle of fish to work as a high profile, well known sports figure. I’m sure the IRS knows not only his name, but the name of his bank manager, and has his immigration file handy for reference.

all right maryeliz……..‘sir’ addressing you because we all know who you are. Will you admit that this ‘multi-culturalism’ BS has ruined Europe and we are NOT going put up with it IN AMERICA!!!!!! America is a great country ONLY because we allow the individual to adhere to his or her cultures BUT when it interferes with the basic American morality and laws of this nation THEN it becomes an offense. When the laws aren’t obeyed in this nation….uhh …can you say the TEN COMMANDMENTS…..the basic tenants of this nation then the rest of us have the right to interfere and make sure our laws are obeyed. When we put into law: one shall not murder another…we didn’t mean unless your culture allows it…….and when our law says, “YOU MUST BE A CITIZEN to enjoy the rights of this country…..that is what it means……you obey the laws to reap the benefits of this country………now you may say why would I include (in relevance to this story) ‘not commit murder’?…..well when we allow SOME to enjoy the rights of this society without being a citizen….then those who commit heinous crimes will eventually be allowed to do whatever they want (killing your own family because it violates your culture and you are off scott free because you don’t want to adhere to American laws). Once this all infiltrates this last free land of the world then it is OVER.

What on earth does this story have to do with Glenn Beck? Do you think he writes these articles? If anyone plays the race card – again and again and again – it’s the Liberals. Actually, other than responding to Liberals and their hypocrisies, I don’t hear Conservatives talk about race hardly at all.
Democrats use the race card to create voting blocs.

1- KKK was created to oppose Republicans turned racist because blacks were voting Republican
2- Racist Internment camps (Woodrow Wilson and FDR – Democrats)
3- Segregation (Woodrow Wilson – Democrat)
4- Jim Crow Laws – Democrats
4- Civil Rights Act of 1957 introduced by Republican Eisenhower (blocked by mostly Democrats)
5- Lyndon Johnson (racist) convinces Democrats to pass Civil Rights Act of 1964 to create a black voting bloc. LBJ quote: “I’ll have them n*g**s voting Democrat for 200 years.”
6- Jesse Jackson gets rich demonizing whites.

I’m not saying all Democrats are racist nor that all Republicans are not, but at least Republicans don’t have a history of it.

The hypersensitivity you speak of is a result of the Dem-Progressive politically-correct tactics of the last 50 years. Defacto silencing of freedom of speach thru false accusations of racism has been the MO of the left for how long now?
John Kerry is a prime example of this through his trashing of the Tea Party. Notice how the left accuses TP’ers of being terrorists, but yet hesitate to call radical Muslim’s terrorists. It’s classic Sol Alinsky. Just deamonize without any proof. If you hear it enough, you may actually believe it. Kerry should be tried as a traitor. I suppose Ma. will re-elect him. What idiots!

He isn‘t a ’illegal immigrant’! If he is illegal, he is not a immigrant, he is a illegal alien. Most if not all professional ball players are here as ‘legal aliens’ and are not generally immigrants. Many baseball players from Cuba and Venezuela have entered seeking political asylum and become ‘legal’ aliens as soon as asylum is granted.
If one enters the country illegally, they are then illegal aliens, never ‘illegal immigrants’. If one overstays their visa they are still aliens and still illegal.
