Shakeup at CBS News: Former Fox News Boss Becomes New President

TV Newser reports CBS News is retooling its reporting structure and shifting around some of its executives, a move that will see a former Fox News boss replace the current CBS News president.

TV Newser explains:

Sean McManus, the president of CBS News and Sports, will be vacating his role as head of CBS News, the company confirms. McManus will become chairman of CBS Sports in the new reporting structure.

In his place, “60 Minutes” executive producer Jeff Fager will become chairman of CBS News, while David Rhodes, currently in charge of Bloomberg TV, will become president of CBS News. Before Bloomberg, Rhodes spent 12 years at Fox News Channel, starting as a PA and eventually leading the network’s newsgathering division. Fager will continue to oversee “60 Minutes” while serving as chairman

“In these two great news professionals, we get the best of both worlds: the quintessential insider with deep knowledge of the business and all the moving parts at CBS News, as well as a dynamic young executive with strong news management experience and a tough, fresh point of view,” said CBS CEO Les Moonves in a statement.  ”They will inherit a proud and dedicated organization that has been well positioned for success in the future by their predecessor.  Together, they make the ultimate winning team.”

Paul Friedman, currently executive VP at CBS News, will remain in that role.

I want to see “The News” again like it was presented by news casters like Walter Cronkite (only telling the truth this time). Back then “The News” was always presented as a serious issue. The format was always professional. Back then, no matter how bad things were, “The News” was like a rock. Now we have clowns that can’t help but to constantly make jokes. There is the constant bias and self righteous unwanted but interjected anyway, “reporter opinion”. There are reporters that when describing an incident they refer to the events as “What went down” (yea Shep, you know what I’m talking about or should I say “What went down”). Their grammar is grade school level from a low end public school. The worst is the prerecorded public interest stories that reek of a fifth grade social studies report. I can’t watch any of them anymore. They make me sick, literally. Their “style” is the symptom of a sick country, populated by people who are sickened with a lethal dose of laziness, self absorbtion and moral degradation. Dear Lord I ask, just what will put our once great nation back on track?

Fox News is centrist, perhaps a tad to the right of center. The Obama-O‘Reilly snugglefest was so called ’right wing’? Last night Greta had SoS Clinton, McCain, Graham, and Liberman on… right wing? I think not. Fox is balanced, at times nauseatingly so. Fox seems ‘right wing’ only because all the other networks are so far out on the left.

As a “kid” of 20 in 1980, I stopped watching CBS when uncle Walter retired, at that time, no one really knew how bad the “nitworks” were. I don’t watch any of the alphabet networks anymore. M-F, I pretty much watch FNC in the evening. The so called sitcoms are not funny, the docu-dramas, are not dramas, but just more bashing conservative shows. The only shows I watch now are “COPS!”, and my other vice, on TruTV, the smoking gun presents. On weekends, if I do have the TV on, its usually on TVland, AMC, or the fox movie channel.
I wouldn’t give you a plug nickel for about 99% of the crap on TV anymore.

I also like Man vs Food, so I Tivo that and Pawn Stars, and occasionally No Reservations.

That dude won‘t last because he’ll be continually butting heads with his contemporaries.

Either that, or he‘ll be more driven by career objectives and will morph his beliefs into CBS’ vision.

I feel like many on the right are waiting with baited breath for the other shoe to drop; meaning, they feel like everything is gonna change. The problem is, it is not going to be like it was 30+ years ago. Demographics have changed and many of those were influenced by progressive action.

Anyway, I like it better this way because now we know Fox won‘t stray from it’s roots – fair and balanced and to the right. I started to worry when they brought in all these weak-kneed former liberal journalists – I thought Fox was (and maybe they still are) attempting to move more middle to pick up an even larger audience. Let‘s hope that isn’t true because I like not having to switch channels all evening or weekend.

Actually, WalkWithMe, I don’t watch FOX simply because once the “new” digital system came in, we could only get three stations and FOX isn’t among them. Then a storm came in and rearranged our antenna and we only get ABC now. So we watch whatever shows we want on the Internet.

However, I have watched CBS news at a relative’s house and quite truthfully, I haven’t been impressed. And no, it’s not because Glenn, Rush or Sarah told me to say that, either. It is because, as someone said earlier in the thread, ABC, CBS and NBC all seem to be clones. I find our local news station to be much more informative and less politically orientated than the big Three.

      Dear Patrick,

A vote is scheduled for TODAY on H.R. 514:

“To extend expiring provisions of the USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005 and Intelligence Reform of Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004.”

The Patriot Act, eh? More like the Fourth Amendment Shredding Act…

Pro-Constitution Americans like you and me CANNOT allow this sort of freedom destroying legislation to continue to be law.

Please call the Congressional Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and tell them to vote AGAINST reauthorization of the “Patriot” Act.

And then send them an email by clicking here.

Reauthorization of the mis-named Patriot Act gives government jackboots more and more tools in their war on gun owners and gun rights activists, who Obamacrats smear as “Radical Extremists” and even “Domestic Terrorists.”

Some of the very worst provisions of the Patriot Act include:
Roving, warrantless wiretaps of virtually EVERY form of electronic communication used by U.S. citizens.

Secret federal searches without warrants OR knowledge of the resident.

Blanket warrants for the search and seizure of all library records, without naming individual suspects or providing probable cause.

Judicial warrants replaced with “National Security Letters” signed by unaccountable Obama Administration bureaucrats and gag orders for those served with these letters which make it illegal to tell anyone about it — including your spouse and your priest!

Drastic expansion of the definition of “domestic terrorism,” which is sure to include gun owners.

Expands asset seizure to permit the taking of assets from anyone “suspected” of terrorism, even if that person is NEVER charged or sent to trial.

Lone wolf provisions which allow the government to spy on ANYONE even if they’re not associated with a terrorist organization or foreign national, without due process or notification.
That’s why you and I need to take action right now!

Please call the Congressional Switchboard at 202-224-3121

I watched NBC the other day and got an earfull of what a wonderful bunch of guys the Muslim Brotherhood is and how they only want the world to live in peace. Giving Nancy Grace and Joy Behar prime time shows ended my ability to get any truthful news from HLN. It seems to me that FOX is benefitting greatly from the stupid decisions being made at all the other TV news outlets. Note to FOX: Please don’t make any stupid moves that lower the quality of your news reporters and opinion makers. Stay truthful. Stay balanced. Please!

CBS has burned their bridge. There is no redemption for them in my mind no matter who they hire. They might as well divvy up their frequency for broadband use, I’ll never tune to it again.

Of course this the the LSM’s next attempt to “cure” what’s wrong with the network. Just like they believe that regular people couldn‘t possibly be against Obama’s policies, therefore, we must all be racists, this is another blind stab by them to “fix” CBS. It couldn’t possibly be the shinola they are trying to pass of as truth. No, uh uh….. It’s got to be a management problem. Liberal/Progressive truth standards – Plan A – Deny, Deny, Deny… Plan B – Lie, Lie, Lie….

I’m going to continue to watch/read multiple news sources and form my own political views. Cause I am a stud puppy who don’t listen to Rush, Beck, Ed, Hannity and other pansies who make millions off of creating political chatter that does nothing but screw up our country. Not submissive like a lot of you. Not naming names, but y’all know who you are.
