Posted on April 18, 2011 at 9:05amThey also believe it’s NOT redistribution of wealth, I was watching the Flipper and Bam Bam show until this segment was over, a person can only take so much. They believe raising taxes now to pay off the deficit is NOT redistribution because the money was already spent. These mental midgets are somewhat correct the money was spent but it went to others on the take, their followers. So I guess with their Pay it Forward concept when you front load the redistribution of wealth it’s not redistribution of wealth. Wow, what morons to them the color green is blue, light is actually darkness and they are not stupid.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 9:04amYes of course it is redistributing the wealth, because they are going to keep spending and keep increasing entitlements. And how is it that heavily taxing the rich (and yes, I think near 40% of your income going to taxes is pretty damn heavy) is “fair” when most people don’t pay anything? We need a flat tax, for sure. And STOP THE SPENDING!!!!!

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 9:04amso basically the deal is this; the ones who worked hard and were rewarded for their efforts now have to give it away to those who don’t work hard and have not earned it. sounds pretty fair to me..
we are tipping the scales towards socialism with each passing generation. I can still hear the All in the Family theme song ringing in my ears “didn’t need no welfare state everybody pulled their weight those were the days!” whatever happened to that America??

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 9:34amI have news for you partner, you are behind the cruveball on this one.
America isn’t tipping, it was tipped long long ago. The tipping began with the importation of European style socialism along with all the immigrants that came here during the industrial revolution, it was cemented into our culture by FDR; and as a student in federally controlled schools (1946-1959) I was taught to worship St. FDR. The knocks against his advancement of socialism were glossed over in my Texas/Arizona school systems, but his socialist programs and “his saving of America” were glorified by my teachers.
During the late forties and fifties you couldn’t throw a rock in central Texas and not hit a farmer or rancher who was delighted to take that government money for not farming his south forty acres. People in this nation are far more indoctrinated to be and act socialist than they realize; and, until each of us does some serious introspection about who we are, what we believe, and what we do, only a rare few will ever realize that.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 9:02amIt seems the current argument being advanced by the looney left is that as long as one person in America has money, every American has money.
In their minds the only problem is that thing called access (to that money), that is what they are working to fix.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 9:01amBack to my comment–There should be an IRS (Internal Revenue Service) AND an IDS (Internal Disbursement Service)–and nary the twain shall meet! One collects the money AND the other dispenses it! Then, maybe, we can get some meaningful reporting of revenues and expenses, by citizen ‘type’ without all the ‘under the table’ adjustments!

They blast the super-rich, who have a 35% MARGINAL tax rate as if THAT should be their AVERAGE tax rate! I am SO SICK of STUPID arguments, STUPID press, STUPID congressmen and a STUPID and GREEDY PUBLC, including THOSE who pay NO taxes and think the rich should pay more! THEY DO PAY MORE!!! What have YOU done for your country lately! Perhaps we should ALL pay more, BUT NOT UNTIL congress, the President and our States get spending under control! GET IT? (They DID get ONE THING RIGHT! The Tax Collector should NOT be the WELFARE DISTRIBUTOR! THOSE FUNCTIONS NEED TO BE SEPARATED! Let one Agency collect the taxes, ALL the taxes! And, let another agency DOLE out the dole! If they and the Fed’s want us to share in the pain, then they need to do so as well; cut the government across the board and put a portion of the revenues exclusively to paying down the debt of our nation.

My only problem with that is there are way too many people who don’t earn anything, just sitting around getting fat off others hard earned dollars. They are ones receiving the benefits, not the workers. If every one paid on what they buy, the illegals, mafia/drug people/criminals and those fat lazy people too…not just the working joe, revenues would sky rocket. Do they use $63.75 million in government services every year? Does their driving damage the federal highways to the tune of $63.75 million every year?
Do you suppose someone who makes $345 million every year spends enough money in that year to create a few jobs? Will some liberal please tell me how it is fair for someone to pay $63.75 million in taxes and still, after paying all that money, the President has the gaul to stand up and say that the people who make this kind of money must contribute even more?
Do you liberals have any idea how much commerce someone who makes this kind of money produces? And do you understand that the more money you take from them, the less commerce they will be creating?

People who want to change a tax system that they do not know, therefore do not understand, just scare me to death. You find the frying pan uncomfortable? Just jump in the fire for an instant roast.
Your “fair tax” would take away my ability to not pay a “fair” share of:
The money spent by government to falsely imprison and ultimately kill all the people at the Koresh Compound at Mt. Carmel, Tex.
The 600 million dollar gift to ADM from the Clinton administration to advertise their products overseas.
The 300 million dollar gift to The Popcorn Council of America by the Clinton administration to advertise popcorn overseas.
To buyout GM and give it to the unions.
To promote man caused Global Warming.
To watch the President sit on his thumb and use tax dollars in his promotion of the violent criminal union uprising in Madison, Wi.
I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on, but you get the idea (I hope).
I for one do not object to sending in some tax money for the things I believe it is good to have a government perform; I object strenuously to sending in tax money to see it thrown down the sh(eye)tter the moment congress gets its hands on it.

The fact is they are pathetically ineffective, and they are out of cash. Posted on April 18, 2011 at 10:20amA SIMPLE COWBOY’S ONE YEAR BUDGET PLAN
Data: Source- U.S. National Debt Clock (all data is approx.)
652,000,000,000 added dept per year
111,213,000 Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Illegal Aliens paying taxes
1% of Taxpayers = 1,112,000 million people
4% of Taxpayers = 4,449,000 million people
5% of taxpayers = 5,560,000 million people
15% of Taxpayers = 16,681,000 million people
75% of Taxpayers = 83,410,000 million people
If:
1% of the Taxpayers paid an additional 217,000 in taxes per year
4% of the Taxpayers paid an additional 29,000 in taxes per year
5% of the Taxpayers paid an additional 13,000 in taxes per year
15% of the Taxpayers paid an additional 7,000 in taxes per year
75% of the Taxpayers paid an additional 1,200 in taxes per year
THE DEPT CLOCK WOULD STOP TICKING
This is using Tax increases only. If spending were to be cut by 50%, then these numbers of outlay would be cut by 50%. Any percentage of spending cuts would be reflected on the above.
Note: There are far more factors involved. If we can’t just do this, all there 10-12 year budget numbers are for moot. JUST A THOUGHT. (sorry, I couldn’t make it 2300 pages)

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 11:12amPeople who say that nothing is stopping the rich to voluntarily pay more taxes totally miss the point. We never ask people to voluntarily pay for improvements and upgrades to our highways or to voluntarily fund the replacement of an aircraft carrier. We DO have collective goods in this country and they are always paid for with taxes. To argue that we move from this compulsory system to a voluntary system is beyond stupid. People ought to think before they open their mouths, including the Senators and Representatives that have made this ridiculous suggestion.
As for the 47% number. It is not ironic that it is the same percentage. It is coincidental. I pay more taxes than most, but I think that the rich need to pay more since those that are not paying income taxes are suffering. First, they DO pay many other taxes (e.g., payroll taxes, sales taxes, etc.). Second, they are barely scraping by, which is why they do not pay income taxes. There is not a single rich person in America that would trade places with them. So to say that they are wrong to criticize the rich, who are NOT paying their fair share or, at least, have not been asked to sacrifice at all during the last few decades while the middle class has shrunk and the poor have increased, is just an unbelievably callous statement to make. The average American believes that the country has much more equal wealth and income distributions than it does, and if they knew the truth, then there would be more than 47% demanding that those distributions become more equal. The anti-union policies and pro-rich tax policies of the GOP are what has largely caused the massive income and wealth inequalities that the vast majority of Americans do not support, and it is about time that this changed. What is interesting is that as the spending-more-than-you-earn party ends, more and more Americans will start to resent the income and wealth inequalities and will seek redistribution. Add to this the great reduction in social mobility in this country, and you have a recipe for major attitude changes of the middle class towards the wealth. And this is not merely the rhetorical claims of class warfare that the GOP uses against the Dems. Rather, this is what happens when people revolt against unfairness on a widespread scale.

Ok, then I suggest the following to make everything “fair”. We should set a maximum amount that anyone is allowed to keep. The rest should be taken and given to those that did not make that much. If I borrow money from the bank and then fail to pay it back, they will not care whether the reason was because my revenues were too low or my operating expenditures were too high. They just want to be paid back. Similarly, the creditors to the US government do not care whether the tax revenues were too low or the expenditures were too high. They just want to be paid. Now, because the rich benefited disproportionately from the reduction in top-bracket tax rates from the 50% paid under Reagan to the 35% under Bush (although many pay far less than this because they characterize their income as capital gains, as private equity and hedge fund managers and others do), they ought to now pay for the deficits that they ran up because of tax cuts that were not paid for. In addition, they are in a better position to pay since they can handle the pain that the middle class, already squeezed as it is, cannot.
Words like “fair” do not have a black and white meaning, but most people would agree that if undertaxing the rich is part of what has caused the deficits, and these folks are in a position to pay, then they ought to man up.

Report Post »It doesn’t matter how much the tax is, who or how much of a sacrifice is paid. Government will ALWAYS spend it all and then demand more. That is why the Founders wrote Article 1 Section 8 into the Constitution. The 18 enumerated powers of Congress. They are the only lawful functions of the Federal government. The rest are State issues. Government must obey the Constitution. It’s a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 2:06pmWe have decided as a society to build interstate roads, telecommunications systems and airline routes, which the founding fathers likely could not have imagined would be as large-scale as they are. We also have decided to invent national regulation regimes to follow the national and even international scope of commerce. The founding fathers could not have imagined this either. And all of these things are good and worthwhile to spend on. We just need to pay for them.
I do not understand how conservatives quote all of this 18th century rhetoric while ignoring how much better society is today than when Thomas Jefferson was President. Every country in the world has emulated the US not to have an 18th century style of economy and society but a 20th and 21st century one. But this requires money to be paid.
Now, you can say that more of this should be paid at the state level. Fine. Let the money go there, but it still requires more money than what a 25% tax rate will support. If you don’t like safety nets and regulations and all the things that the government does, then move to Iraq. Their standard of living is about where ours was 150 years ago.
Finally, the Supreme Court has ruled that the current spending is constitutional, so you cannot argue that the founders would be appalled at the spending. You are not the ultimate arbiter. Those justices are.

If we simply allow the government to ignore the Constitution and do whatever they want, we essentially have NO RIGHTS. The Founders installed a method into the Constitution to amend it. Without amending it they do not have that power and BTW the Supreme Court does not have any authority to decide what the Constitution means. Read Article 3.
Allowing States rights allow the states to decide if they wish to spend money on a program. The state level is closer to the people and that is why the Founders did that. If we are going to ignore the “Supreme Law Of The Land”, the Constitution then why should any of us obey any laws at all.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 2:46pmMakes me sick when progressives, like Joe, say “This isn’t about redistribution THIS TIME…”. Hello? Do they really believe the Government is going to take that extra revenue and actually pay down our deficit? They are on crack.. more tax money means more spending to the Feds. Enhanced funding of entitlement programs is more handouts by the Government, meaning it is precisely redistribution that is being discussed EVERY time.
I’m waiting for Obama to come out with some solid numbers on how much money he will raise with additional taxes, and where that money is to be spent. He would have to take 100% of all income earnings from everyone over $200k just to balance the annual budget he has proposed.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 3:15pm@ABC You are wrong in so many ways but I just want to address the one about the courts being the final arbiter of what the founding fathers said (constitution). Wrong, they believed the people would have to be the ones to protect the constitution, because they understood how evil gov’t can be. Thats why they gave us the 2nd amendment. We are the final arbiters, don’t forget it.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 7:34pmWaco and En2Deep, you guys are wacked. Whether a law is constitutional or not is determined by the Supreme Court of the US, ultimately. All of the spending that you guys claim is unconstitutional can be challenged, and much of it has been over our nation’s history. That it is still in place means that it was held constitutional, like the multiple rulings related to income tax, the commerce clause, the establishment clause, the separation of powers. Only CRAZY people claim that these rulings don’t matter because we, the members of the GOP, conservative movement, Tea Party or whatever, know better. And they have their guns and special knowledge and they’re allowed to enforce their “special” reading of constitutional law. This is all crazy talk. It really is. Not because I say so, but because the Supreme Court says so, as does our Constitution.

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 8:07pmMika…I am a CPA and former state tax auditor. Please employ me to do your taxes next year! I will make sure you pay THE ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM AMOUNT beyond what the law mandates. Hell, I’ll make sure you file late so that you can pay penalties as well to the IRS. If you want the rich to pay more (and I’m sure you qualify to be in this category), I’ll have you paying LOTS MORE!
Come to think of it, I can start a new business and advertise on msnbc…”Max Tax Master.” Are you a rich limousine liberal and feeling guilty about you low taxes? At Max Tax Masters, we’ll have you paying much more than the legally madate amount. We’ll have you filing late to pay the IRS penalties; in fact, we‘ll have you being the IRS’s best friend!
Tell me Blazers, do you think this is a winning business?

Report Post »If Madison and the Founders were here right now, who would you ask as to the meaning of the clauses you listed? The Founders or the current Supreme Court? I would hope you would ask the actual writers of the Constitution. Well, surprise, you can ask them. There are literally 1,000′s of letters and documents from that time period and they are available to read. Another good source is a 3 volume set called “Records of theFederal Convention – Vol. 1,2,3″. These are the notes taken by the people that were actually there. The Supreme court is to interpret laws in relation to the Constitution, not the other way around. It amazes me that we no longer have 3 separate branches of government. They now have joined against the very people that are supposed to be their boss.

equal a unit of $33,000 let’s say a living unit. This is the same for every American, so
