    i guess i’m a victim of instutionalism racism. i applied for a night stocking job at toys r us for the holidays and was told in an e-mail that i didn’t qualify. imagine that: a guy whos worked retail for his adult life doesn t qualify to stock spiderman on the shelves. i guess i shouldve left the part blank when they asked what race i was

      i get the same thing ALL the time…or TOO qualified. (them: “you’re not going to quit if you find a better paying job, are you?!?” me: “um…..no, of course not, i mean with 20+ years management/reception experience, why would i EVER want to leave a minimum wage job if something better came along!??!”) not to mention the ENDLESS hoops you have to jump through these days to GET the crappy jobs: credit check, drug check, personality test…. it’s INSANE. what ever happened to actually SPEAKING with an applicant?

    I don’t know how honest I can be without getting Juaned, but here it goes. Black people in general are lazy, at least in my experience. I know of at least 20 people that run their own businesses and they all say the same thing. Another big issue is, you cannot fire a black person as easy as you can a white person. When you are competing in the free market you cannot have people on the payroll that drag you down(no matter the race). That is not the fault of black people in general, but the race hustlers like Al Sharpton. Buisness owners have enough headaches, they don’t want to have to worry about being sued by the hustlers.

    First off Sharpton is nothing more than a race baiting SOB—–Secondly,if the unemployment figures are accurate with respect to blacks it’s because so many fail to educated themselves,so many never develope a reasonable work ethic,unfortunately the out of wedlock birth rate within the black population is sky high;this leads to many economic problems and equally so many feel that their shortcomings are someone else’s fault.Everyone in America deserves an equal opportunity to compete but as individuals we are owed nothing by others.Solution: Get off your butts and take personal responsibility and above all quit sitting around with your hand out waiting for somebody to fill it with many of the ill advised social programs that have been wrongly implemented over the years.

    ok, I am sick of hearing how black kids don”t have the same opportunities I had when I was growing up. They sat in class next to me. They heard the same lessons and had the same tests. They had then and have now a choice to listen to the teacher and to do their homework, and even ask for extra help if they need it. They have a choice to be a good student and person. To do what is right and become whatever they CHOOSE to be. So brother al, tell me how you can possibly say that black kid didn’t hear what I heard or had the same chance to learn that I did…. show me the proof

      The Democrat party and its “war on poverty” has done more more to handicap black citizens of this country than anything else. It has destroyed families (black and white) by substituting welfare checks for intact families, spawning a growing illegitimacy rate that has enslaved (yes Al, enslaved) generations in a cycle of dependence on the government and contributing to a gang culture that has caused even more chaos in communities across the nation.       About a year and a half ago, in our town, there was a BIG party, at which, words were exchanged and T.H. pulled out a gun to threaten A.B. with it. A.B. pulled out a knife and a struggle ensued. A.B. managed to get two hits in and T.H. staggered off into the night. The police were called and one of the officers did a few pass throughs at a local burger place looking for what he was told was the perpetrator. No one saw or knew anything.

      The next morning, they found T.H’s body BEHIND the dumpster at the burger place, and the immediate charge was that the police were racist. Only problem, is the officer who did those pass throughs was black. Then it came to light that the police were looking for A.B. and A.B.’s father immediately announced that the police were “framing” his son. Shortly after that, A.B. went to the police station and turned himself in. Then everyone who “didn’t see anything” the night of the party came forward. A.B. was acquitted, but kept getting threats. This time the charge was that the police weren’t responding because of racism. A.B.’s family moved out of state a year ago, but came back to town because they couldn’t find work (clearly there is racism in the South). A.B. was later shot and killed by an “unknown” perp about two months ago. And this past Friday night, A.B.’s cousin was found shot on the street. While the police responded in full force when they got the call, they couldn’t stop it. It had already happened. Throughout this case, there have been constant charges of racism, racism, racism, but all the perpetrators and those involved have been black.

      So, how many funerals do we have to have before this all ends? And how is it that there is all this racism, but the perps and the victims are all of the same race?

      It’s sad, really sad.

    Illegal aliens are the ones taking the lower-paying entry-level jobs that would go to urban blacks — if there were any jobs to currently get, that is. Yet blacks overwhelmingly support the democraps, whose jobkilling policies include higher taxes and amnesty for illegals.       How come when a couple with 3 kids from Vietnam ( or India or China or Phillipines etc)
      move into USA,
      don’t know English , don’t know driving, don’t have no monay, no friends and no relatives most of the times,
      can get a job for themselves,
      go to school or community college, while taking care of kids,
      learn to drive and speak English ,
      and in 6-8 yrs start their own business, buy their own house, and later send their kids to college ?
      How do the disadvantages that American black youths face , compare to what these immigrants face when they land here ?

      I was in business for 40 years. I never had a single Black Employee in all that time. I had ONLY ONE Black Man ever apply, he was Jamacian and got a better offer than I could make.       If you really want to place blame, Rev. Al, blame the Democrats. The Democrats WANT an underclass of citizens that they can fool and convince them to vote Democratic. They use fear (Loss of dependancy lures such as food stamps, welfare, rent subsidies etc) to cajole the poor into believeing they are the answer. The Arab countries are using the same tactic to keep the Palestinians in poverty so they can use them as pawns.

      Rev. Al, if you would stop wasting time trying to get on TV every day and use your talents and the millions of dollars you have received to promote job related education for the ghetto residents and work to get them off welfare rolls and become productive members of society, the entire nation will be better off.

      Of course, after getting a job and working for a living, the poor black residents of the ghetto might realize what a phony you are and and how you have used and milked them of their money and they may cut off a large part of your funding. You can’t stand that idea so – - – keep them supressed and keep them voting Democratic.

      MIZFLAME98-That is very well put. My problem with this is that it’s the liberals who have created policies that put the blacks where they are today. Most everyone on here seems to know this. But I also have experience working with the black community as an employer and I’ll tell you what, most blacks that don‘t have jobs is not because companies won’t hire them. It‘s because these same blacks don’t want to work, period. And when they do get jobs, they are not effective at all. I ended up quitting that job because I got tired of all the bs.

      Mr Sharpton, how about you and me sit down for a discussion and I will explain how many times I have had to deal with the quote ‘institutional racism’ here in AZ. I have earned my achievements based on my own merits, and ones I lost were due to my own mistakes. This country is suppose to be where EVERYONE is free to pursue their dreams to the best and most they are able to make of it. The opportunities for everyone do exist; all you do to begin is convince yourself you can do such, and then seek to make it happen.

      Anyone doubts this look at one of my favorite members of history George Washington Carver, and all that he developed in his time. It is inspiration of his life work.

      It’s seems that Al is of the opinion that if a black individual does not get preferencial treatment in all things simply because he is black, it is racism. In my world, one gets a job, and gets ahead in that job and life because of hard work, not because of a handout based on race.

      I’m not Reverend Al fan, but there are some industries where “classism” is present. To the untrained eye, this can appear to be racism. On Wall Street for example, there are entire divisions within firms where nepotism is rampant.

      I agree. It is sad because for years this country has actually encouraged them to be dependent on the system. They have purposely divided the races..It is true that they have the opportunities but there is no incentive. I think that it is sad. It not only caused a division but also much hatred.       Ok, let’s speak freely. Blacks have disproportionate unemployment…let’s see..what about the disproportionate numbers when it comes to unwed mothers and divorce. How do we get to those unemployment numbers? No parents, no mentors, no family values, no accountability. Why? Manufactured dependence. When any American , regardless of race, sex or religion stays true to a moral standard, they will be successful. Working at an education working to be abstainent, working to keep a marriage together, working to be a good parent, working to be the best employee….these things have nothing to do with race and everything to do with being a good person. Sharpton needs to be preaching about being a good person in his community. Sharpton needs to lead by example for all of our community. Sharpton needs to stay out of politics and help unite us based on values instead of dividing us. These people are parasites. Unless good people are suffering then they have no platform to advance themselves. They are holding people down to use as examples to further their agenda and control,instead of lifting them up to be mentors and proof that the American dream applies to all! The only thing standing in the way is government and self belief.

      Politicians & city governments have been treating blacks with institutional racism for the last 50 years.

      All in the name of puplic housing & welfare assistance, teaching entire communities to live off the government, & you dont have to do anything for youself.

      I just thought of something. I‘m not sure it’s been said yet, but try this out for size. What if Sharpton is right to a certain point. If in fact “institutional racism” is real, but not just for blacks like Sharpton wants you to believe but also for whites. It makes perfect sense because now the larger group of oppressed are the illegal hispanics. I’ve heard a few stories where someone was working for a company and noticed who got laid off first and it was the whites then the blacks and all that was left were Latinos. Similar stories came from two different people from two different companies. One guy being white and the other guy being black. If not, you tell me then…

      Forty years and trillions of tax dollars later, Mr. Sharpton still blames “Whitey” for all “Black” woes… How much more affirmative action, racial quotas and special privileges must we supply before African-Americans take responsibility for their own actions?

      PC is on its way out; the race deck has already run out of cards; and false cries of “institutional racism” no longer works…

      We are a diverse nation now, and it’s time to let go of “what used to be” fifty years ago… We should all be held accountable for our own merits or lack of merits.

      Let it go, Mr. Sharpton! It’s old…

      Blacks you live in America,the same opportunity awaits all.Get a education,quit tattoing your bodies from head to toe,speak english,pull up your pants and have some self restraint.You get a girl pregnant take responsibility for your actions.Dont tell me a good education is not available to you,put forth some effort.I have a handicap son that the school system was willing to write off because of their laziness,he had several learning disabilities.He graduates in December from Arizona State with his masters degree(3.8 average).He’s applied and was excepted at several schools for the PHD program,.DONT TELL ME THERES NO OPPORTUNITY,THATS BS.

      AL Sharpton knows that (1) higher levels of black unemployment, (2) higher levels of black out of wedlock births, (3) higher levels of black prison populations, (4) higher levels of black abortions, (5) lower levels of literacy –all these points correlate with the federal governments movement by the democrats toward socialist “Great Society”.

      Before Johnson created a welfare state for blacks, there were more black men marrying and staying with their wives than after Johnson funded the welfare state. After the federal government started spending and giving preferences to blacks, they began to stop competing because why compete if you are already entitled. Why compete for admission to colleges when you are given preferential entitlements, why compete for private contracts when you are given preferential entitlements for government contracts.

      It is time for EVERYONE to remember how to compete and get back to work

      Mr. Sharpton’s entire career is dependent on the existence of racism. If he can’t find individual factual cases, he will manufacture it out of thin air. Now the new scam is “institutional racism”, where apparently it is now racist to hire people based on merit, work ethic, and attitude.

      Now if Sharpton said that the rap music industry, or the democratic party, invokes “institutional racism” as a means of holding down the black man, then he may have stumbled upon a truism.

      And here is a man who walked and talked with Dr. Martin Luther King. One would think that Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson would follow Dr. Kings philpsophy. From their pulpit Sharpton and Jackson spew lies and entice hatred. Is all this done for the Glory of God? I shall never acknowledge either with the title reverend.

      If their’s a disproportionate unemployment issue among blacks, it is the result of Morons like Sharpton and Jackson who have preyed upon the masses of black youth for years with their racist rants, excuses and accusations. Promising entitlement, while artfully employing the abdication of personal responsibility.

      Their solution is always to shake down the successful for green while they take a sizable cut for themselves…. They are profiteers via the seeds of misery that they have personally sown….It’s quite the cottage industry!

      Time to wake up and stop enabling these ethnic cannibals…..

      Have you not heard blacks on TV who say Obama will take care of them so they don’t have to work. They really believe that and refuse to go out looking for a job, unless they are college educated who have loans they need to pay back. Entitlement society has given them the opportunity to stay home and live off YOU AND I!

      I believe there are vestiges of racism, some are institutional. Inheretance, neoptism, the old boys netowork and what not. But I am going to coin a NEW phrase. A New Paradigm…. wait for it, wait for it…. INSTITUTIONAL IGNORANCE!

      I reject the premise that we are, where we are, based solely on the long lasting effects of racism. I am more than aware that we have made great gains in the last 50 years since Jim Crow. But to the detractors… it’s only 50 years ago, that we could drink from the same water faucets! Those were our grand parents who experienced that who were supposed to teach our parents family values, self respect, a protestant work ethic etc. etc. etc.

      And to those that use it as an excuse . . . I say “AND”?????

      To Al Sharpton I would say, if you are a leader…. LEAD, get out front of the Black Community and share your vision, direction and motivate from within – - – But Blaming anyone, any race, any gov’t official is not going to put one noodle in the pot to eat.

      Well let me try to explain it coming from a black man who is not financially stable; To many black people listen to the excuses of poor performance in the “real world” instead of going out and doing the best that they can do for themselves. There are people who want others of all races to fail and what I see in the black community is that there are far to many “leaders” who fit that profile. Those are the people who claim to want to help you succeed but in reality they work to do the opposite. There are also in my opinion, too many black people who don’t think for themselves. People are trusting by nature but what I see among black people is that we don’t trust ourselves. I know what‘s best for me or at least I think I do but just because a person has a doctorate degree dosen’t mean that he/she knows all about me and my problems. A person who truely wants to help defines what the problems are and allows one to come up with a solution as opposed to coming up with a solution to a problem for you. What did Ben Franklyn say, “trust the people” we’ll get it eventually. It’s what the idea of the United States is all about Life and Liberty and in my opinion too many black people have very little knowledge about that. Now if your not black and wrote this you’ll probably be chastise and labled “racist” by the phony leaders like Sharpton, Jackson and the NAACP to name a few but me, I guess I’ll be called a uncle tom or something of the sort. I don‘t care though I’m tired of the bull!
