Sharpton Presses FCC to Deny Rush Limbaugh Broadcast License

Appearing on MSNBC Monday evening, Rev. Al Sharpton told host Ed Schultz that he was meeting with representatives of the FCC to discuss ways to prohibit conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh’s “blatant racist tirades.” Sharpton also brags about his efforts in preventing Limbaugh from taking an ownership stake in the National Football League (NFL) last year:

Rush Limbaugh has the right to see whatever he wants to say. He can’t do it on publicly regulated air waves. The FCC has the responsibility to set standards to say the public cannot be offended based on their race or gender in this country, and you federally regulated air waves that they give licenses to that are very competitive and the FCC is very selective based on standards.

Protecting people against being offended?

Any regular listener of El Rushbo knows Limbaugh is no racist, but liberal activists continue to insist on government-regulated “guidelines” to police talk radio airwaves for so-called “offensive” language (aka anything they disagree with). Will Sharpton and his coalition partners be successful?

    So let me get this straight, Sharpton wants to censor Rush saying he is Racist, yet Sharpton turns a blind eye and a deaf ear on left leaning talk show hosts who say far worse things on the radio? This man does not deserve to be called a Reverend as he does nothing to prevent racism as he is the one who keeps it alive and well. Sharpton claims he followed MLK, but obviously he learned nothing from him. He needs to go and crawl back under the rock he came out from.

      No. It’s not the end of the story. Al jumped all over her story without ever investigating it to see if it was real. He took every opportunity to get his face on every news outlet and talk to anyone who would listen so he could claim racism as loud as possible. He was trying to make a name for himself. What really upsets me more than aanything is that he actually calls himself a reverend. That’s just plain disgusting. They must have added Reverend to the match book along with HVAC TECH.

    Noone on TV or Radio is more mean spirited and hatefull than the lot on MSNBC including Olbermann and Matthews. Let’s start there.

    I made the mistake of reading Olbermann’s book in a book store recently for about 5 minutes. He is a very hateful man. None of his book was fact. All opinion and conjecture and hatred.

    Rush backs up what he says. 3 hours a day. There is alot of opinion in his show but more than enough soundbites and quotes to back it up.

      You should care because Sharptom whipped up a media storm over a young girl who “claimed” she was raped and one of the men falsely accused committed suicide because of it. The other man, Stephen Pagones, sued and won years later, but Sharpie never paid a red cent.

      Flushed with success, Sharpie went on to incite another crowd to destroy a small store called Freddie’s Fashion Mart. Too bad seven people died in that fire.

      He was also involved in the following events:

      Bernhard Goetz – Bernhard Goetz shot four African-American men on a New York subway train on December 22, 1984, when they approached him and allegedly tried to rob him. At his trial Goetz was cleared of all charges except criminal possession of a weapon. Sharpton led several marches protesting what he saw as the weak prosecution of the case

      Howard Beach – led marches in protest; Bensonhurst – led marches in protest; Crown Heights – led marches following the riots; Amadou Diallo – led marches and other incidents.

      And more. While I fully support the right of assembly, Sharpton is a master at inciting a crowd and its always, always, always about race.

      Tawana Brawley didn’t just accuse men of raping her, she accused WHITE men – one was a cop. This put Sharpton in the spotlight, so all of his notoriety came from a LIE. Why people still listen to him is beyond me.

      I have said many times that when they start taking away free speech all bets are off as to how bad the revolutionary kickback will be.

      If they do this, they will start a Civil War. No doubt in my mind. There are too many people who will take up their arms to defend the Constitution and I am afraid this would be the straw that breaks the camels back.

      I want peace as everyone else does. Glenn preaches non-violence and I am all for that.       The right of Free Speech is not needed for speech everyone likes. Its for the hard truth that bothers people. Free Speech is there to put truth to power and shame to corruption. If the FCC censors people like Rush, conservative or liberal, it will have effectively put the last nail in the coffin of the Constitution.

      If anyone is offended while listening to Rush, they are sitting there desperately hoping and waiting to be offended… Notepad in hand to write down just how offended they were and a quick link to Huffpo’s website to make sure everyone knows how offended they are…

      But if you say to them… It’s a radio station… A radio has many stations… If you don’t like what your listening to, switch to another station or switch off the radio… Nobody is forcing you to listen to any particular station at any time.

      Is Al Sharpton’s “CHURCH”, a tax-exempt organization? I have no idea, but if it is, how does he get around the 503cE restrictions prohibiting political activity with church activity? He hides behind this “reverend” label, when I done see or hear very much that sounds what I would consider “Christian”.
      He’s been doing it since we first about Twanna Brawley, so he must have a loophole, because he certainly enjoys inflicting his politics on us. REVEREND, I find your opinions racially insulting. Be careful what you wish for….

      This is what makes me so mad. The left is always looking to shut up anyone or anything that does not agree with their progressive communist agenda. I have been offended by some of the crap I came across from time to time on the radio but then I make sure I do not go back to that station. I do not run to someone crying to make them stop, dam come on people stop being such big cry babies! You all what to rule the world with your BS policies but have not the heart or mind to make a decision when confronted with someone who thinks different than you. Sharpton is like a lot of the other lefties, just looking for more fame and a payday from foolish followers who are like lambs to the slaughter.

      He claims to be a man of GOD? I my humble opinion anyone who is “called” by GOD is more interested in teaching people about the ways of the Lord that playing politics.       The mere apperance of the Reverend Al Sharpton offends me and millions of other patriotic freedom loving Americans. Liberals can say anything they want publically but conservatives need to be monitored and even silenced by the govrnment. Personally, I‘ve never heard Rush Limbaugh make a singal racial statement but I’ve heard the Reverend Sharpton make plenty of them. It’s the “Play the Race Card” maneuver that’s been so used and abused for so many years. Just call something “racists” and that’ll get the governments attention. This is not the 1960′s and the Civil Rights movement is shistory. Those old tactics don‘t work as well as they did in the 1960’s. The signs, “Whites Only” have been removed. and African Americans can sit anywhere they please on a bus in America. Rush Limbaugh is not a racist but Al Sharpton is a racist and everytime he opens his mouth he proves it.
