Sharpton to Caller About Unpaid Taxes: ‘I Don’t Know What You‘re Talking About’

Coming off a teleprompter flub earlier this week, Rev. Al Sharpton was again confronted with an on-air surprise, this time when a caller into his radio show took him to task Thursday over reports that he owes millions of dollars in unpaid taxes.

Sharpton took a different approach in responding — he said he didn’t know what she was talking about, and then blamed Rush Limbaugh for her inquiry.

“Your Comcast scandal plus you owe $2 million to taxes, what say you?” the caller, identified as Pamela said. “The AP reporters are now going to have a scandal with Comcast that the Republicans will use and use. They’re investigating that now. That’s why you got that job at NBC. Plus you owe $2.4 million to taxes, so what’s going on? Please clarify, we read it on AP an hour ago.”

Sharpton answered with a slight huff of amusement: “OK, thank you for your call, I don‘t know what you’re talking about but I guess you do….You know, they say Rush Limbaugh and others are coming out with all kinds of craziness, I guess that means we did the right thing by making sure we turned on the heat with our shows.”

David A. Wilson, joining Sharpton in the studio, then added: “If Rush Limbaugh is angry than you definitely did something right. Actually if you did everything wrong he still would be angry. The guy’s just angry.”

“That’s right,” Sharpton said.

It’s unclear which Associated Press story the caller was referring to, but in February reports showed Sharpton owed $3.7 million in city, state and federal taxes. There has also been controversy over Sharpton’s lobbying for a Comcast-NBC Universal merger. Reports say he is on the verge of getting his own show at MSNBC.

      Yet even MSNBC on their own website quoted that AP story on Sharpton. Do these pinheads really think our memories are that short? And do they think we won’t fact check for ourselves? Morons.

      Most black people still do not realize that they can free themselves from oppression and poverty simply by getting a job and working to do so.
      I remember back when I was a small child my own mother would say at the dinner table “finish your dinner, there are starving children in Africa” Now, decades later these same starving Africans ( and now African-Americans) are still sitting in the mud with their hands out begging anew for their own starving children. It will be the same a hundred years from now. We are doomed to an eternity of holding their hands, feeding them, clothing them, giving them our hard earned money and now having to watch them terrorize our lives like a hoard of out-of-control, demanding, ignorant, punk teenagers. Tough love is in order.
