Shock: Solyndra Caught Destroying Millions of Dollars Worth of Parts

Solyndra is officially the scandal that keeps on giving.

After receiving a generous federal loan guarantee and then filing for bankruptcy, the Fremont solar company still owes American taxpayers half a billion dollars.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, it would appear the Solyndra scandal has taken a turn for the worse.

A San Francisco-based CBS affiliate has just released shocking video of Solyndra employees destroying millions of dollars worth of parts.

“At Solyndra’s sprawling complex in Fremont, workers in white jumpsuits were unwrapping brand new glass tubes used in solar panels last week,”  CBS San Francisco reports. “They are the latest, most cutting-edge solar technology, and they are being thrown into dumpsters.”

Solyndra paid at least $2 million for the specialized glass, according to the CBS report. In fact, the solar energy company still owes the German manufacturer of the tubes close to another $8 million.

Why would a company that owes a fortune to creditors indiscriminately destroy millions of dollars worth of assets?

“Solyndra is not commenting,” reports CBS San Francisco. “But court documents reveal the company received permission from the bankruptcy trustee to abandon the high grade glass, the court agreeing that it was of ‘inconsequential value’ because the cost of storing them exceeds their value.’”

An employee for Heritage Global Partners, the company in charge of selling Solyndra’s assets, told CBS 5 they conducted an “exhaustive search for buyers but no one wanted them.”

Apparently, the “exhaustive research” wasn’t all that exhaustive. For instance, the glass tubes were never included on the list of Solyndra assets put up for sale at two auctions last year.

Furthermore, investors have come forward and said that they would have gladly bought the glass tubes from Solyndra.

“We certainly would have bid on them, yes,” David Lucky told CBS 5. Lucky specializes in buying and reselling manufacturing equipment and components.

In fact, when Solyndra shut down last year, Lucky purchased hundreds of their fully assembled solar panels sold them on eBay.

“Our company has bought a lot of stuff over the years. Truck loads and warehouses full of inventory that companies were just ready to send to the dump, because they don’t want to take the time to find markets for it,” he said.

So much for that “exhaustive research.”

One final point: CBS 5 apparently called the German company that made the glass tubes to see if it would have wanted the parts back. Considering the fact that Solyndra still owes it millions of dollars, the European company might have been interested in recouping some of its losses.

The German manufacturers were just as surprised as CBS when they learned Solyndra had decided to destroy the parts.

They couldn’t lose enough during the bubble, They couldn’t waste enough with TARP, They couldn’t loan enough to “green energy”, So now they will ensure they cannot recover the loan loses.       Bridges built in China, GE is exporting their turbine manufacturing to China Obama is blocking oil drilling in the Gulf for the US companies, while China and Brazil are getting contracts, he’s also blocking the Canadian pipeline.

      This country has been producing solar panels since the 70′s, I’d say government meddling has ruined the field. Guaranteeing panel production moves overseas, destroying future economical recovery, This is Global redistribution of wealth, further weakening this nation.

      The glass tubes, I’ll bet was resold to a willing buyer. Nothing from a company and of any worth is thrown into a dumster and thrown into a landfill. It is recycled and collected some value from it. Someone is not coming clean on this story.

I personally reported a stack of 5 Agilent Technologies Spectrum Analyzers (used in repairing high freq. comm. equipment) sitting out in the rain in the back of a motor-pool. Each one valued in excess of $90,000.00. They were all brand spanking new in the box and were still 6 months away from the first yearly calibration re-cert. That is but one occasion. Secondly this is about “Death from a thousand paper-cuts” even as stupid as some of these people are they are not going to make it obvious. Your smart ***** remark left out that I pointed to TARP and others as well. No one was trying to say 2million in glass would do the trick. “Death by a thousand paper-cuts” is how this country got to where we are now. This is modus operandi for these socialist bastards.       I wonder what kind of liability the bankruptcy trustee has for this outrage. If he/she allowed it, then at the very LEAST he/she should never again be appointed a bankruptcy trustee. If he/she did not authorize it, then there is certainly criminal culpability for someone. What do you want to bet the NOBODY in charge suffers from this in the least?

This is the culmination of the liberal movement either by design or stupidity. This is all in Saul Alinsky’s book, I wish someone on the left would actually read it rather than listen to Obama’s words regarding it. It is a process which when started is very difficult to stop. The hate for this country is what is driving Obama and his minions I just wish they understood that it will destroy the world, not save it. Those assets cant be resold, meaning the parts/equipment provider gets their monies worth for the kickback to the CEOs of the shill company.

    Unbelievable! I just inquired about solar technology for a home today. Wouldn’t it have been wiser for the property and all materials to have been turned over, or confiscated, by the DoJ for future use and development? Just a happy thought that D.C. could try to salvage some portion of the half a billion dollars that was thrown in the “dumpster” called Solyndra.

      I’ll guess your estimate was 8 to 12 grand for the system. You can do this yourself and save a ton. Buy the panels on ebay and the grid tie inverter and plug it into an outlet to your house. I put up a 200 watt solar panel, and bought the grid tie inverter all for under $500 including the shipping. Knocking about $20 a month off. Has paid for itself and is putting money in my pocket. I am no electrician but it was easy to run the pos and neg from the panel to the grid tie inverter. I would have loved to grab about 6 panels from them cheap and I would be selling juice back to the electric company by now. Only thing with this simple system is if the grid goes down it does nothing for you. I chose this because I didn’t want to get into the deep cell batteries, voltage regulator, and the rest of the stuff to serve as a backup system.

    LOL! Government re-investing confiscated wealth in the private sector always fails. Hey I have an idea, lets not vote for 3 out of 4 of the Republican candidates that are all for government intervening in the market and our society.

    What’s that? Whining and moaning? Well, I don‘t feel like posting all the pages of SantRomGrich’s voting and flip-flopping records, rest assured, I don’t even need to ask you to take my word for it and you can quit your whining. :)

    i think we should spread all that wasted glass and make the solyndra big wigs, and all dems in this fraud of an administration crawl through it on their bellies

    ……………..they could sell tickets with the proceeds to go to the national debt .

    $100 bucks a ticket, and i would buy 10 of em, just to watch em do it more than once
