Shocking Claim: Feds Bought and Sold ‘Fast and Furious’ Guns

Just when you think the Operation Fast and Furious catastrophe can’t get any worse, it seems to. Shock Claim: Feds Bought and Sold Fast and Furious Guns

New information released today indicates that Fast and Furious wasn’t really a botched sting operation, but a taxpayer-backed firearms delivery service for ruthless Mexican drug cartels.

Fox News has reported that ATF agents actually bought weapons from a gun store in Arizona and knowingly sold those firearms to illegal straw buyers.

Previously, it was known only that ATF agents encouraged gun stores to make suspicious sales to straw buyers. But now, it appears the federal agents themselves acted as middlemen between the straw buyers and the Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel. All in, the cartel spent an estimated $1.25 million on illegal Fast and Furious guns.

If true, this latest allegation means that the ATF handed out guns against a slew of federal criminal regulations, and ignored longstanding law enforcement policy that guns are never allowed to “walk” (leave the scene or drop surveillance).

In addition, there have been fatalities directly attributed to guns from the Fast and Furious program. At least three Fast and Furious related guns were found at the murder scene of U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry. The Mexican government has estimated that 200 of its citizen have been killed by weapons tied to the Fast and Furious program.

Apart from the primary allegation of taxpayer cash for illegal weapons, Fox reported that an ATF agent who was opposed to the operation was ordered to partake in it to force his silence.

Based on new documents, Fox outlined at least one instance in which ATF bought and sold guns to an illegal buyer, despite strong objections from an agent involved. Fox wrote that:

“Agent John Dodson was ordered to buy six semi-automatic Draco pistols… an unusual sale, Dodson was sent to the store with a letter of approval from David Voth, an ATF group supervisor. Dodson then sold the weapons to known illegal buyers, while fellow agents watched from their cars nearby.”

Agent Dodson apparently recognized the operation was a terrible idea. His ATF group supervisor, Agent Voth did not want to continue surveillance on the weapons, but according to Fox, Dodson:

“felt strongly that the weapons should not be abandoned and the stash house should remain under 24-hour surveillance…  for six days in the desert heat… defying direct orders from Voth. A week later, a second vehicle showed up to transfer the weapons. Dodson called for an interdiction team to move in, make the arrest and seize the weapons. Voth refused and the guns disappeared with no surveillance.”

Dodson eventually went public with his allegations about the Fast and Furious program after the murder of U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry.

Congressional investigators continue to look into Fast and Furious and rely on whistle-blowers for much of their information. Rep. Darell Issa (R-Cal) has stated that he believes there may be a cover-up all the way to the top echelons of the Justice Department.

      They were originally saying they were monitoring people acting as straw men purchasers for Mexican drug dealers… The drug dealers were the source of the cash. This is vastly different.. and I’m p.o’d ,, I didn’t even get a nice S&W airweight or a shotgun.

    I dont think everyone on the blaze is really thinking about how serious “Fast and Furious” is to the public. The Obama Admin. has given high powered guns to the cartel in Mexico. That means the cartel in the U.S. also has these guns. It is not 2000 guns it is 2000 gun in this one operation. There are other ones in Houston, Dallas, Tampa, El Paso and Columbus, NM. People on the border are the greatest at risk, some of the guns can shoot accurately for 2 miles. Hundreds of people have been killed in Mexic, the 200 people est. they are giving is for where guns have been found with the dead bodies. Women, children, and babies have been killed with our tax money. Something has to been done.

      Actually, TexasWoman56 is correct. From the list of models I read some time ago, there were Barret 50 caliber sniper rifles among the weapons walked. I think you would have to agree those are “high powered” rifles. Most of the rifles were the typical “evil black rifles” that the media loves to go wild over (AKs and ARs) but there were also some very high end weapons mixed in.
      What most people don’t appear to grasp is that a federal entity supplied weapons and cash to a large scale criminal element in another sovereign nation, and that the criminal groups are seemingly intent on toppling legal authority in that nation. Doesn’t that begin to look like an act of war? And all without Congressional knowledge or approval. The people who authorized this operation are guilty of violating numerous Federal laws, but they are also guilty of acts of war against an allied nation, apparently for the purpose of undermining the American Constitution. Golly, that sounds a lot more like treason now, doesn’t it?
      This needs to be pursued to the end, as high as it goes, and there must be prison time for those found guilty. I don’t care how highly placed or how well connected. The law must apply equally or there is no justice.

      As soon as Harry Reid decided to not pass the House Bill, FEMA suddenly found it had more money than previously thought and wouldn’t need more money to make it til the end of the FY. Isn’t it amazing, it was only an emergency when the Dem’s said so, then not? How much money do which agencies have that the don’t know they have. REMEMBER THAT’S TAX $’s, Where did the tax $’s come from to buy weapons with? Does anyone know ? How do we know that FEMA’s $‘s are actually going where it’s supposed to. And why does FEMA keep citing the TX fires as expense when AP told us that FEMA told TX it was on it’s own with both the drought and fire?

      To M 4 Colt I don’t think Texas Woman is adding spin as you called it. And I have to tell you, some of the rifles ARE a little more powerful than the .22′s you referenced. Were you aware several of the rifles were Barrett 50 cals? That do have a killing distance of 1 1/2 miles to almost 2 miles??? This has been proven in the sandbox on the other side of the pond and no, these rifles are a lot more powerful than one would use to hunt deer with. So Texas Woman, you are spot on with your assessment on the type of weapons being sent to Mexico…NO MSM (actually MSNBC) spin about it!

    My friends, The sole purpose of this “Fast and Furious” was not to arm the drug cartels. That was merely a tool to create another “crisis” and as we know this administration never waste a good one…The purpose was to create a gun and violence crisis, one so bad that immediate governmental intervention was not only wanted but in some cases actually needed (at least perceptually). This would have created a flurry of proposed gun control laws all designed to disarm law abiding American citizens. Obama told his core supporters of whom were upset with his lack of gun control focus that, “He had things in the works” What he meant to say is that he was creating a crisis that would kill thousands of innocent Mexicans and kill our border agents. This is out and out treason and this president deserves to be impeached. Instead, we’ll just vote him out of office this in 2012 as well as the rest of the liberal, progressive, Marxist, Maoist that he has in his administration and the halls of congress!!!

I am so sick and tired of us legal tax paying citizens being played in every way to prevent us from retaining our constitutional rights. Cass Sunstein eric ( black panther) holder Obama, hiliary and the rest should be forced to live in south central for one week without their security forces by which they are all armed. THIS is a direct scam to cause the anti gun as holes to take it and run. I just applied to Florida for a CCW its very disheartening that the hoops we have to jump through just to be legal and the rest ( majority ) of criminals are free of fees, background checks and intense scrutiny to obtain legal firearms and or CCW etc. There are more and more regulations to prevent US legal citizens from being able to own legal firearms. Soon I see if you have an outstanding traffic ticket your done. I read in Kentucky if you owe child support you are banned. WTF does that have to do with legal gun ownership. Further all this does is force us legal US citizens to STOCK up. DUH> any time we may be restricted from getting supplies like ammo.     This is the biggest criminal conspiracy and cover up in my life time. This is MUCH worse than Watergate or any other government led criminal cover up. America, wake up and demand congressional hearings and hold the government officials accountable. This cannot be allowed to go unchecked.
