Shocking Report: MSU Student’s Mouth Stapled Shut During Horrific Anti-Semitic Hate Crime

Zach Tennen Recounts Violent Hate Crime by Alleged KKK Members

Zachary Tennen, a 19-year-old Michigan State University student, was the victim of what some are categorizing a hate-crime following an attack at an off-campus party (police, though, are now saying that it was ”not likely a hate crime,” but they are giving few details to corroborate that stance). Tennen, a resident of suburban Detroit, is telling media that his attackers, who broke his jaw and reportedly stapled his mouth shut at the lips and gums, asked if he was Jewish before assaulting him.

Zachary Tennen, a 19-year-old sophomore in MSU’s journalism program, was attending a house party early Sunday morning when two men approached him and asked if he was Jewish. After responding in the affirmative, the two men allegedly performed a Nazi salute and recited “Heil Hitler” before beating the young man unconscious.

CBS Detroit reports that 20 people witnessed the attack as the two assailants proceeded to staple Tennen’s mouth shut and broke his jaw.

“They knocked me down really hard … and I assumed someone would help me,” Tennen said in a statement. “But after some guys at the house basically kicked me out, I had to get a cab.”

Tina Tennen, the student’s mother, told the Detroit Free Press her son took a taxi to Sparrow Hospital in East Lansing for initial treatment, but underwent surgery in metro Detroit Monday night to have his jaw wired shut.

“It’s an awful hate crime, and what he’s gone through emotionally and physically, it’s scary to put it into words,” she explained. “Hopefully the worst is behind us. It’s going to be hopefully not too rough.”

While Tennen did admit to consuming “a small amount of alcohol,” he remembers the events that unfolded and has recounted them to media outlets. His father has expressed frustration that hospital officials didn’t report the incident to police, especially after purportedly learning about the assault directly from the young victim.

“It almost seemed like they tried to kill me, and to think about that in my brain, physically — it isn’t very pleasant,” Tennen told campus newspaper The State News.

“I want everyone to know how severe this is. They could have killed me,” he added in an interview with ClickonDetroit.com. “I’m going to try my best to make sure they don’t get away with this.”

Now, the student’s family is seeking the help of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a group that tackles anti-Semitism. In a press release today, the organization responded.

“We are horrified by this violent assault and allegations that the student may have been viciously attacked because he was Jewish,” ADL Detroit Regional Director Betsy Kellman said in a statement.  ”We hope the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice.”

Tennen is expected to return to MSU after a week of recovery.

    Now the hospitals are getting as PC as schools? I noticed the news story didn’t say what race/color the assailants were, which usually means they were not white.

      You’re kidding, right? If they were anything other than white, you know TheBlaze would have made sure to point that known. This was not just a copy and paste of an AP or NYTimes article — something that TheBlaze does all the time.

      That is why I always carry an aluminum baseball bat in my car, If I saw this happening there would be two nazis in the hospital, or if I was near my guns maybe worse if they came after me

This nation is taken over by the apathetic “zombies” that would rather observe than take action. This is what tolerance is in its purest form. I was driving in Key West and I was thinking to myself that I could drive into incoming traffic just to see what would happen. Not because I was depressed but just because I didn’t care.       The Truth or Not – It saddens me to hear stories like that young Jewish boy that was knocked out and then had his lips stapled shut. What irritated me more is that nobody stepped in to help. I would have and I probable would have pulled and shot. It only takes one person to step in and the rest of the crowd will follow.

      First of all what do the perps race have to do with the hate in their heart? The important thing here is that this is a Jewish hate crime. Second important point is that no one stepped in to help him.

      Now the hosp… I am a 911 operator and yes they are required to report it. If he told them that he was assaulted, then they are required to call. Why would an assault be any different from a rape when it comes to the ER reporting it?

      JZS, Disagreeing with the persons in the list you made is one thing, and is not racist. But, the physical attacks and verbiage against Jews and Israel are coming from the left these days. My feeling right now that if this actually happened, these two are well known heavy duty thugs in the community and the surrounding 20 people are not afraid of them, but their known associates too. If they are the neighborhood thugs, then I suspect they are not part of the voting class regardless of party. They likely have next to no political leanings.

      AvengerK: There‘s nationalization and there’s nationalization. Under Stalin there wasn’t even any formal private ownership of production or distribution. Under Hitler there was little or no confiscation of the private property of Germans–unless of course they were Jews or known to be in opposition to the regime. Farmers kept their farms. Small business owners (a major Nazi voting bloc as long as voting still mattered) kept their businesses. Large business firms, many of which had made major financial contributions to the Nazis’ rise, continued to operate and in some cases did very well out of the 3rd Reich.. Stock exchanges continued to function, interest and dividends continued to be paid to investors, including some foreign ones. Of course, all under strict government control. Someone once asked Hitler, “Why haven’t you nationalized private property?” He is supposed to have replied, “Why should I? I’ve nationalized the people!” Hope this helps clarify.

      V15, I was getting close to forty when Sammy died. I fondly recall a lot of funny movies he did, especially with Dean Martin and others. Never knew his politics and really don’t want to, but he was funny, and could sing. A great entertainer in my mind. BTW, I never suspected anything racist on your part.       Kelly Henderson- People standing around during an attack happens more often than you might think. I learned about this in sociology class. One reason is during something like when someone gets hit by a car and no one helps, it‘s because people don’t know their role in that situation so they tend to continue to walk by. Is it wrong? Duh. But does it happen? A lot. Sad really. And this story should be no different.

      Just for the heck of it I researched * violent crimes committed while onlookers do nothing *. The results are a real eye opener. It seems to happen a lot. Remember the young man who was beaten, stripped and robbed in Baltimore while no one helped him? There are many more examples online.

      Reminds me of the stuff that I’ve read about Nazi Germany. Strangers and friends of Jews would turn their back. You know, I don’t care who it is, if you see someone getting attacked like that, I think that it’s your moral obligation to help the victim.

      I doubt this kid stapled his own lips. I can look into his eyes and see his soul is soft. This happened because a man was raised to believe other people would help and protect him and a couple other men were raised by POS parents. Don‘t emasculate your boys American moms let them learn how to fight and teach them to always stand up for what’s right. Teach them that there is punishment for fighting but some things are worth fighting for.
