Shocking: S. Carolina School Officials Filmed Slapping, Shoving Special Needs Student

Not long after a New Jersey father filmed a number of teachers brutally mocking his autistic son, footage from South Carolina’s St. John’s Elementary is showing the school‘s behavioral manager and a teacher’s aide slapping, shoving, and demeaning a 10-year old special needs student on a school bus.

Seemingly trying to put on his safety harness, the first woman literally throws the device on top of the child’s face.  Unable to speak, according to reports, he sits there calmly.

Next, the boy holds his arms out so the woman can put on the device properly, and she shoves his head forward so that his whole upper-body bends.

As her rough-handling continues, the child starts whimpering and crying.

“Hush! Hush!” the other woman can be heard saying, as she slaps him across the face.

Then the women, identified as Tomeka Self and Rosanna Dudley, both start shoving and rough-handling the student to get the harness, shoving him forward and to the side with excessive force as he cries.

According to reports, the bus driver found the incident so appalling that he turned the bus’s footage over to school authorities, who put the women on administrative leave without pay before notifying the police.

After the cops began investigating the matter, the women were arrested and charged with simple assault and battery.  They are due to appear in court on May 9th.

“This behavior is unacceptable, especially coming from adults who have been entrusted with the care of our children,” Dr. Rainey Knight, superintendent of the district, said in a release. “We do not condone this behavior anywhere in our district for any child.”

    That video broke my heart. Hopefully, starting today, those two “ladies” have begun collecting their 99 weeks of unemployment benefits.

      I guess you didn’t realize that I was laying the sarcasm on pretty thick?!? However, I understand how screwed up our system is and I have no doubt that even if they are fired (which they probably won’t be because of Union agreements), they’ll still collect all their benefits, courtesy of the taxpayers. Their consequences will all be based on their voting record, not the fact that they were abusing this helpless child!!

Of course if that’s my son I would be the one who took him to school and picked him up no matter what the cost.

      I live in the Raleigh area which is an illegal alien haven and saturated with welfare recipients and government people and retirees.

      @johnjamison- Unfortunately, most school districts look at special ed kids as cash cows to fund everything else because they get funded about 100x what a regular student do. So when you say you’d drive them yourself, you have to realize that the district will pull every string, rule, and minutia out to try and stop you from being ABLE to do that.

      Women??? Assault??? They are two monsters not women! They performed an act of cruelty on a disabled child. This is abuse!!! And both abusive women need to be banned of be working around children, disabled people and animals. They are going to repeat their perverted, sadistic behavior. and yes both need to go to jail.

      I have no doubt these women are on paid leave. The public school system is so screwed up. Why do we need a public school system? Schools should be operated like a business….like private schools. Let’s make teachers and “aides” responsible for their actions. How many other children have been abused by these inhumane cowards. You can tell it is definitely not the first time.

    These women are absolute MONSTERS. I can’t believe that these women are allowed anywhere NEAR a special needs child to begin with!! This surely can not be the first time that they’ve done this! That poor baby looked so confused and hurt. He didn’t understand why he was being treated this way by people who were supposed to be caring for him!!!! Its heartbreaking. I hope these monsters get exactly what they deserve!

      My thoughts exactly. A supposed “grown-up” treating a helpless child that way. Brought tears to my eyes. If I were the parents, I would bring my own charges against them. Notice the one behind, when she is done with the straps, she administers one more little slap before stepping away. Good for the bus driver for doing the right thing. These people should not be allowed to work with children.

      Just make sure you are in a sound proof or isolated area. Personally, if some school employee did this to one of my children; well, let’s just say that without a body there is no proof a crime has been committed.

    “The Nazi Doctors: Medical Killing And The Psychology Of Genocide” by Robert Jay Lifton.

    Critical to understanding what socialized medicine is really about and why “teachers” and others in authority are singling out these individuals. The Nazi Doctors explains it all in horrifying detail.

      I don’t need to read the book to agree with you. They don‘t want women getting breast exams until they’re 50, they don‘t want men getting prostate exams until they’re 60. That tells me they don’t want to pay for cancer. They want everyone to have free “preventative care” which says if you do get something they’ll blame it on your life style and not cover it. This is all about weeding out the weak and sickly.

      YOU READ MY MIND!! Yes, yes!! I’ve read this book. Very telling, and Nazi behavior is the very FIRST thing that came to my mind. I agree. EVERYONE should read The Nazi Doctors. These women are the type that would immediately obey the policies of a dictator who would encourage starvation of folks in mental institutions and anyone considered “unfit.” What many folks don’t realize–and Lifton points this out early on in his book–that doctors (even before the Third Reich) typically saw themselves primarily as servants of the state (as Germany had state health care) instead of servants to those to whom they were giving care. Shows the dangers of nationalized “health care,“ and the disloyalty of ”doctors” to their patients.

      Lifton has chronicled in excruciating detail the development of medical killing. It is an invaluable tool to anyone who desires to unmask the precursors to genocide.

      We all know about the holocaust, but few realize it stared with killing children.

    Okay so the bus driver found it so apalling he turned the video over to administrators, yet he remained silent as they did it. Sorry buddy, you are just as guilty as they are. You did not stop it or say anything to those low-life excuse of humans beings? He should be placed on administrative leave without pay. The woman should be fired period. It does not matter the outcome of courts. They placed their hands on the child in a hurtful and demeanting way.

      Cofe: I understand your anger, but think about the bus driver and perhaps what his/her childhood was like. If he had stopped it, there may not have been enough evidence to get these two “ladies” fired. It would have had to happen to yet another child before their true personalities surfaced. The bus driver did the right thing and that child helped to prevent other children from having to endure more from these two.

    I’m thinking bypass the court system and their horsepuckey probation/anger management/money based punishment system and go straight towards early morning piece of fiberglass rod and about 5 minutes of workout on each. Problem solved.

    Do that to my son and they may well beg for the fiberglass rod before it’s over.

    What did the little kid do before the film started? Was he unruly are going nuts? Maybe he was just sitting there minding his own business. Maybe they knew what he was going to do before the bus stopped. None of these issues are worth the rough treatment the kid got. That teacher got what she deserved.

      Wait, please! these people have had ‘special’ training in government programs designed to deliver the best in ‘education’ to the “educators” of special needs children!

      Let‘s not forget a ’structured’ secondary education system provided these people with the “KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES“ and protected jobs and collective bargaining tools of unions to back their ”credentials”.

      “No child left behind” “IS” their ‘credo’. A mandate from “government” has been established. Funding has been provided. Legislation has been passed. Laws exist. Guidelines and S.O.P., regulation and ‘morality’, ethics and honor, integrity and reputation are all on the line here. These, ARE the ‘best of the best’ that we can provide for our children of “special skill” (as I like to call them).

      IMHBLO, THIS “IS” why we would destroy (or try to) inner planetary aliens. Because we wouldn‘t ’understand’ them, all cynicism and sarcasm aside.

      We ‘claim’ the realm of understanding and compassion and desire to help the helpless. But we don’t “understand them.”

      And I’m as guilty as anyone. My mother “IS” going through senility symptoms these days. And I have trouble grasping “where she ”IS“ mentally” as she begins this degenerative process of leaving ‘our’ world and entering Gods. It’s tough. But I can‘ imagine what she’s going through. I hate it when I can‘t remember the ’word‘ I want to use in my ’blogging’.

      Nazi Germany didn’t just suddenly start marching Jews into the ovens. They started with crippled and retarded children. Nazi “Doctors” drove a “killing van” up to your house, took your child, and killed him or her…as part of their socialized medicine program.

      @ Mike T- I’ve read that book and it made my stomach turn more than a few times. Yep, dehumanize the humans, and you have animals you could abuse….. No strike that, you have THINGS, beneath animal status, that you can do whatever you want to…… These people, the beaters, need to meet some special needs kids’ family members, in an enclosed room, with the parents given bats or brass knuckles or all other manner of beating implements. Then, whatever is left, goes into general population in prison.

      It is good to see others who have read Lifton’s book. It is a sober analysis filled with horrifying example after horrifying example of man’s inhumanity to man. After reading it you will be left with a new appreciation for the value of each and every individual and just how precious human life it.

    Now this is a HATE crime. I agree that this should be more than simple assault. I rarely if ever think something is a “hate” crime (they hurt or kill you is hate…all violence against someone is a hate crime).. but this is disgusting. They should be charged to the max, I don’t think that simple assault is the max.

      I don’t know if this is a hate crime. I didn’t hear the video. I certainly does not help race relations.

      If they are getting frustrated with the job, they should take time off or quit.

      I don’t get the harness for safety. I just don’t It could be designed better. School busses I rode on never had seat belts much less any other protection.

      These teachers (?) need to be fired & spend some time in jail.

      I rewatched the video. A hate crime can’t be charged. the person slapping the black child is black. Eric Holder would never charge a black woman with a hate crime.

      If both of the women were white , this would be on the news nonstop.

      walkabout – some kids need harnesses to sit up straight and stay in their seat. I’ve seen kids with these. Some kids have huge special needs and no seat belt or a regular seatbelt isn’t enough.

    SIMPLE ASSAULT AND BATTERY? Child abuse of a high and aggravated nature should have been the charge. This is a special needs child who cannot defend himself against two strong adults and was even trying to cooperate.

    I wonder if either of these women have children and if so, do they treat their own children in this manner? It’s worth looking into.

      These are the initial charges. When it goes to court I sincerely hope they charge them as you suggested. These people genuinely remind me of how the Nazis justified euthanizing children like this one. Those two deserve to be locked up for a long time.
