Shocking Vid: Local Fox Crew Attacked, Beaten in Calif.

Incredible video has surfaced after a news crew from local Fox station KTXL was attacked and beaten in Natomas, California on Sunday. The crew included a male reporter and a female videographer. Both were repeatedly struck, with the woman being pulled to the ground by her hair and kicked in the face. They were trying to cover reaction to a recent murder.

The first video is a first-person perspective, showing video taken by the female attack victim working for Fox 40 in Sacramento:

Another crew from a different station, News 10, captured the attack from a distance, and shows exactly what happened:

And finally, CBS 13 released video of the attack from directly behind the victims [WARNING: Contains graphic language]:

Fox 40 and the reporter explain:

“This is one of the hazards of the business but we didn’t expect what we encountered here today,” said reporter John Lobertini.

Early this morning, a man who friends identify as 27-year-old Chester Jackson was shot and killed in a parking lot outside an IHOP in the 2900 block of Advantage Way. Sacramento Police say it started as a fight inside the restaurant.

Friends and family gathered at the scene Sunday and set up a memorial with candles and balloons.

When FOX40 reporter John Lobertini and photojournalist Rebecca Little approached around 4 p.m.  to see if anyone wanted to talk about what happened, they were attacked.

Several people pulled Little to the ground by her hair and kicked her in the face. “When I fell on the ground I was protecting myself, and then she kicked me and I was still kinda paralyzed, and I hear my reporter John say, ‘get up, get up,’” said Little.

Lobertini was also attacked. “I was punched on the side of my face,” said Lobertini, “but it was a situation where I was trying to fight off 6 or 7 or 8 people, I can’t even count them.”

Animals…pure and simple! Lets turn the tables here for a second. Two black reporters show up at a memorial for a white victim. The white victims turn on the black reporter and camera person. You mean for a minute that Al and Jesse wouldnt be there in a heartbeat? All the drive bys would be reporting how far we have yet to go in regards to race relationsl. I for one hope they press full charges seein how they have audio and video of the attack.

There is deffinetely a double standard in this country with regards to race. You here about the problems of violence in the black community, and they act as though it is the fault of white people. They need to take some personal respnsibility for their actions. Of course not all black people act or think that way.

Actually, being about as conservative politically, socially, and theologically as you can get, I use the “right/left“ distinction as often as ”conservative/liberal” terms. As far as I can tell, they serve about the same purpose and define the same groups. So, there are conservatives who refer to themselves as being the political right. On the other hand, I like Mark Levin’s identification of the left as “statists,” since old time liberals may be quite a bit different from current leftist/progressives.

Why are “They” so violent? “They” receive: Years of federally mandated handouts, always pushed to the front of the line without exception, receive tax payer funded housing, receive tax payer funded medical care, have thousands of people within academia (ivy league) speaking for “them” everyday, somehow have the ability to ban or outlaw words, receive tax payer funded higher education, receive tax payer funded farm payouts and “they” just get more and more violent.

Someone please explain this to me!

When you give people things that they don’t have to work for, this is the outcome.

This is what the government wants. This group of people all over the country are ripe for the picking for violent uprising. They are not smart enough to realize that they have allowed themselves and their children to be used. They have allowed themselves to be victims.

Abandonment of morality empowers a wicked heart. National financial crisis destroys peace and national security. Third world mentality accepts mob rule as an outlet for discontent. A godless national attitude destroys any hope of preserving life. A nation no longer “under God” is assuredly under God’s judgment. These are dangerous times.

What is going on with some of the women in the black community? Why are they so angry and intolerant? I am trying to understand but so far am unable. I guess I will just have to beware of where I am and who is close to me in my daily routine. We need to expect violence to occur at any time.

Because they will not admit it was a White person of good values who said in good intent many years ago that we need to help our brothers and sisters out of poverty. America was predominently white when I started out in the 60s/70s and even the 80s, somebody had the power to give, it wasn’t them, so why can’t this fact be recognized and celebrated even. I’ll tell you why! Because they would never buy it. They have been kept in a state of seething hatred of everything White in America. Affirmitive Action was not a product of the black/latino community it was a product of the mostly White American government. It took a white person in someones (minority) background to lend a helping hand up in this country. If you can‘t see that it’s because your looking for racism in my comments. I grew up on the East side of Cleveland. My parents said nothing to me when I was 4 years old and pulled my little red wagon up and down the street with a little black girl in it. Her siblings however did not like this and shooed me away. It stopped! Not because of me but because I learned that what I was doing was not making others happy.

Somecat, Are you serious? Are you excusing the violent behavior because a news crew was trying to get a story? I agree, they weren’t, as far as I could tell, angry because it was a FOX affiliate but I didn’t think that was the story here. It was a violent crime occurred and the people setting up a memorial attacked news people, violently, that were only their covering the story. We will never know if there was a racial component to it but I can see why some could see it that way – if the news crew was black, would they have been attacked? Can you honestly say yes?

One of the women said it “this is a public place”. The news crew had every right to be there too. If they wanted privacy..they should go home and grieve in private.
If they had asked nicely to leave them alone, there would have been no story. But the second they were seen, they were being yelled and and pushed…there this the story right there. If there is a story, they are there to cover it. these people made the story about themselves, not the dead guy.

These sidewalk serfs holding a “memorial” had an opportunity to speak to the public, perhaps about their fallen family member, and a plea to someone to come forward and help them find the perpetrator. To honor him point out what a senseless crime this was and what a great guy he was!!
But noooooooooo! Instead they solidify many preconceived notions about “banger” response. As for the BS that their grief was interrupted is just that, pure horsepucky If you insist on privacy, then take your grieving to the confines of your home. I agree (simply to protect themselves, possibly) the fox reporter might have avoided such an unprovoked attack by going ahead off camera to ask family if they would like to make a statement , but they surely didn’t “intrude” on anyone on a public sidewalk. I agree with a post up thread that they probably didn’t want their rival “bangers” to see who to target next.
I hope indictments are coming , after all “social justice” & legal justice should be colorblind, right?

You’re right….there’s been a lot of white against black in this country, not even going back to the 60′s and before….but black against white crime and threatening, aggression is commonplace now. Statistics show that the real violence against blacks…is from blacks, which has nothing to do with this attack…but is thought provoking.
Also….I applaud you for mentioning that you’re American and not African American, having never been to Africa. It’s ridiculous that this practice goes on. Shall I say I’m Irish American? Is my Chinese friend a Chinese American. No…we’re Americans…period! The only race, that is allowed to identify itself this way is blacks, illegal aliens or visitors to America. I am not certain where this term originated…but I think Jesse Jackson first used that term. It did start during his self appointed run as leader of the blacks.

Hello, Cosette. I think I’ll cause you “Cosi” for short. Have you ever heard the expression “Judge not yet ye be judged?” Perhaps not. Anyway, it seems applicable here as you seem to be judging without actually seeing what people are saying. All the liberals here just keep attacking and that is fine. It makes them look like idiots. Since you seem to be new head, I thought I’d try to help you out.

I presume your handle “Cosette” is a reference to “Les Miserables”? It seems ironic. I wonder if you have ever read Victor Hugo’s novel of are perhaps just a fan of the musical. Judging from your position of things, I am guessing you can relate to the parts of the books where students revolt for social change. I am here to tell you there is a lot more to the classic than they show on stage. There is much more about God and redemption which gets glossed over in the play. The lesson you should learn from the novel is that GOD brings redemption and attempting to change the human condition through government and rebellion is ever doomed to fail.

Unfortunatly, the reporter handled himself poorly at the aproach. Should have aske for an interview before bringing cameras. And should not have responded that the sidewalk was “public” when the lady got upset.

The reporter should have asked for permission to video or even conduct an interview when dealing with grieving people especially a violent crime. I am a Grief Recovery Specialist and grievers react to a loss in many ways. I also do not justify the crowds violent reaction, but I‘m not sure I wouldn’t pop the reporter in the mouth if he didn’t comply to my wishes to grieve in peace and kept roling with the camera. Technically he has a right on public property to conduct the interview and I have a right to kick his ass for doing so. He gets a black eye and I get assault charges. Free speech has consequences and should be protected.

If you want to have the memorial in public then you are opening yourself to the scrutiny of the public in general, not saying they shouldn’t have had it there just be prepared to have public scrutiny. Maybe the reporter and camerawoman weren’t exactly tactful in the situation, they should have showed more sympathy but they didn’t deserve a beating and nothing that they did should have triggered that kind of reaction. I don‘t care if you are grief stricken or not you don’t have a right to assault someone else that is just ridiculous. If you can’t control your emotions anymore than that you need to have your butt sitting at the house until you are under some sort of control.

GoldNugget: “This country will never stop paying the price for slavery.”

It‘s not the historical context of slavery that’s the problem for black Americans. It’s the Progressive agenda to teach minorities that they are victims to their white oppressors. Only then can they continue to justify entitlement programs that keep minorities tied to their party; it is simply enabling. It is in fact a new plantation: Uncle Sam’s Plantation. Where minorities, and those white folk who want a free ride, are still slaves.

This is sadly all too typical of blacks, and their reaction to grief. When I was enlisted and living on base, a black guy was hurt very badly on his motorcycle. Being a naive white boy fresh from the farm, I offered my sincere condolence to a couple of black guys who were sitting on the sidewalk, grieving. Well, rather than acknowledging my kindness, or just ignoring it, one of them jumps up and comes after me…shouting racial slurs. I think the only reason we didn’t go round is that several of his friends stopped his advance…likely only because I was senior in rank.

Back then I had no thoughts one way or another on race relations, because I was born and raised in a place that was not at all ‘diverse’, and it just wasn’t an issue. I chalked it up to grief and let it go. If it happened today I would have him charged, because I see it for what it is….pure racism. This would have never happened if the reporters were black.

If they wanted to grieve in private, all they needed to do was simply state that and nothing more. As a matter of fact, why would they even place a grieving area in a public place and then, perceive it to be their own? Yes, IHop should be held liable for any inflictions of injury upon the camera woman and the reporter she was working for, because whether those people like it or not, it IS a public area and IHop is only attracting those who do not know how to act in public. If they cannot control their anger, then the people should not be there, but rather at home, to deal with their anger, until they can control their unruly selves. Grief is not an excuse for infliction of brutality on another person.

Mr. Logan, people can only form opinions and judgements based on their own experience and research. My experience tells me that “this is typical of blacks”, because I’ve experienced it personally and seen it several times. I wish I was wrong. But I also watch the news every night, and see who is perpetrating the majority of the crime even though they are a minority of the population. I see and hear the gang bangers driving by with their loud music and icy stares. I research the statistics on who is commiting the crimes in vast numbers beyond what their percentage of the population should predict. I see the videos of convenience store beatings, almost invariably black perps. I see well over 90% of blacks voting for the black man (does this mean if this was a black country no white would ever be elected president?) And I see examples such as this story happening almost every d’mn day. I tell you what, let’s go tit for tat….you give me an example of a group of whites beating up blacks, and I’ll give you an example of blacks beating on whites. Who do you think will have more examples?

Do you really expect a rational concerned person to just ignore all this? Would you prefer people stick their head in the sand and pretend all this isn’t true? Many people have been doing that for decades, with the media and hollywood’s help. Strange but it only seems to be getting worse. The only way through any societal problem is with truth and justice. So let’s admit the truth.

      ARX:
Very valid point about judging from your experience, but get real experience. Just curious, do you have blacks as friends? It is my belief that what you see in the news is biased. Basically, you can’t judge people based on race at all. I could take what I’ve learned over the course of my education about the oppression of blacks by whites and bitterly carry that on my shoulder in life, judging all white people based on the actions of a few. The people in this video acted stupidly, not “black.” There is no way to act a certain race. If you wanted to go back and forth with videos for examples you would win, because black on white violence or black crime is what sells. The news is still a business, they need viewership too. If we actually compared cases there are far more anti-black hate crimes. In 2009 there were 2,284 anti-black hate crimes. There were 545 against whites. I hate turning these things into a race issue, my point is that this isn‘t a race issue it’s people responding poorly to a reporter’s insensitive act.

      Mrlogan,
We wouldn’t know if your stats are correct, because two top DOJ prosecutors have testified before Congress that there is a bias in prosecuting black-on-white hate crimes. I, for one, believe them. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/42676.html

Also, when you give stats like that, they can be misleading. Please cite your source. I can’t tell if you are talking about white vs. black or every other race/ethnic group vs. black. To be accurate, you have to analyze the incidence proportionate to the population of a given race.

Aren’t you judging current behavioral trends among blacks by your own personal standards as well, MrLogan.

Mr. Logan. I’m not sure what you mean by your “get some real experience” condescension. Does two tours of duty in two branches of the armed service count? I‘ll guess you mean I wasn’t raised in the “hood” and so I’m not “down with the struggle”. Well, everyone has their struggle. Some decide on defeat and entitlement, and worse, some are taught that. As for myself, I come from a very poor background. I enlisted, excelled, and received an NROTC scholarship to go to school. I went to college, and paid for it with years in the USMC. Now I’m succesful in private practice. I had no support from ANYONE except God and what I did my myself. And I’ve done nothing that any young black kid could not do if he tried.

To answer your question, yes I do have black friends, and blacks friends were at my wedding. It is a shame that you apparently believe anyone who states certain hard truth must be a racist. Maybe you need to widen your mind, or gain some ‘real’ experience yourself.

Your comment about a ‘biased’ media is only too typical and ridiculous. So the media just refused to report when a white boy is arrested? Do you honestly believe that? I suppose you also believe that all the statistics, such as those complied in “The Color of Crime”, are false.

No doubt slavery and years afterwards in this country were unfair to blacks. But when are blacks going to get over it and quit seeing themselves as “black” before anything else? Did you endure slavery? Did I enslave you? I will tell you who is now being systematically oppressed. It is whites through affirmative action in college acceptance, preferential contract treatments, promotions for the sake of diversity. Not to mention a justice department that refuses to prosecute those of darker skin color.

And as far as the 2284 to 545…I have to wonder about these numbers. Even if true, I wonder if what just happened to these reporters will be on the list next year? We both know the answer…no, it will not be, because black on white is rarely considered a hate crime in today’s political climate.

I will agree that you can’t judge an individual on race. Any fair person will form their opinions on individuals for who they are. That does nothing to diminish the facts previously discussed.

Hahaha, no, not “the hood” and not “the struggle.” I mean urban blacks, suburban blacks, just blacks in various settings. The statistics are all races against the specifically named race. I’m not saying everyone who states the truth is racist, I’m saying that calling this typical behavior is not the truth. I thank you for your service to America and I appreciate your patriotism. I myself am against affirmative action, it diminishes my accomplishments. I was the only student in my graduating class accepted to an ivy league school because I had very good test scores, but my friend’s father is convinced it was due to affirmative action. I did it with skill, I should be judged based on my character. And apart from skin coloration, a factor out of my control, I have NOTHING in common with these people. There’s the denouncement for everybody who wanted it.

My question is, when is someone going to do a story on “Black Agression?“ It seems every ”fighting”, “violence” video I see is almost always black on someone else.
      Just an observation.

Mr. Morgan. It sounds like we have something in common…hard work to get where we are. That is one thing I never had to deal with…not being given credit where it was due. That must be hard to deal with. Another reason I too would like everyone to be judged by their accomplishments and character, as the good Dr. dreamed.

I know waht Obama’s reaction would be:
“Well, I don’t know all the facts, but it’s obvious that the reporters were acting STUPIDLY.”

I bet these people are telling all their buddies, ” I’m on t.v., yeah that’s me beating a whitie” They should be ashamed but that’s another story. Anybody that get’s involved in any violence except defending themselves is wrong.

it was interesting watching the other station footage…a few of the women are trying to ASK Rebecca Little to walk away….after Rebecca made a comment you couldn’t hear about being hit and kicked and somebody going to jail… the woman in green nearly runs back at her punching her hand and being totally idiotic….they scream at her to go away….one woman starts pledging with Rebecca not to have her friends arrested and bursts into tears….
also if you watch the video…three fat guys….one in blue, first to run over and start the problems, another in green that brings up the rear…and then a third in red immediately come over and attempt to start fights…
nobody on any footage simply says…please leave us alone…we don’t want to talk right now… they just start yelling…pushing…punching…getting in people’s faces….it is like watching a bunch of teenagers having a ******* contest which usually ends up with someone throwing a punch and then suspension from school or arrest.

everyone the pushed, punched, or kicked either report should be brought up on charges of assault and sentenced to the maximum allowable simply to tell people from any background that this type of behavior is unacceptable.

It seems we are headed towards violence. The left versus the right. The minorites versus the majorities. If we‘re not careful we’re going to destroy ourselves…. much to the joy of our common enemies.

OK, let’s set a few things straight:

TV news crews routinely inject themselves into tense and inappropriate situations. Reprehensible as it may seem at times, it is their job. FOX does it, CBS does it. ABC does it…. they all do it. Get over it already.
The behavior that mob displayed was disgusting, inexcusable and illegal. Period. If you disagree, you need to have your head examined. The assualt the reporters experienced was directly the result of people that have no self restraint and/or control of their emotions, let alone an understanding of what it means to be part of a peaceful society. They (the mob) are very much part of the “it‘s always someone else’s fault“ or ”woe is me” segment of society that is growing in leaps and bounds, thanks to liberal/progressive forces.
Are there racial undertones here? Probably, but to label the incident as racial does nothing except proliferate racial tensions. Let’s just call it what it was – people behaving badly.

What a disgrace to that family. The saddest thing about this incident is what the reporter, John, says in his piece. They are there to put a name and face to the young man who was killed, to let his loved ones talk about him so he’s not just another statistic. Instead, his loved ones totally dishonored him by behaving like thugs. I watched all 3 of the videos and don’t know his name, what he looks like, or why he was killed. I do know to stay away from that IHop in Sacramento. Those people have no clue how to behave in public in a civil society. There is no privacy in a parking lot. They‘ll get plenty of privacy after this when the news won’t go into their neighborhood. The camera crew showed far more understanding and compassion than his “mourners” did.

WHY do reporters feel the need to be “where the action is”? I would be just as happy to hear their reports from an office instead of watching them tempt fate.
