Shocking Vid Shows 35-Year-Old Dad Violently Beating Teen

Florida Father Gary Johnson Beats Young Teen in Street Brawl In what seems like a scene from “Fight Club,” a disturbing video shows a 35-year-old Florida man violently beating a teenager. The shocking footage was apparently taken after the man, Gary Johnson, allegedly setup a fight between his son and another teen.

But rather than simply allowing the young men to duke it out (not that this should be encouraged, anyway), Johnson purportedly jumped in to defend his son, repeatedly kicking and punching a 16-year-old boy.

Some sources claim that Johnson, who did not have a prior legal history, initially told the two boys that he would be willing to monitor a fight between them. But that doesn’t seem to be how the incident unfolded, and Johnson‘s violent attack didn’t end until his son — who apparently quit the fight before his father joined in — pulled Johnson off of the victim. A woman can be heard (and briefly seen) yelling in horror.

The USA Today’s Andrew Knapp has more regarding the legal fallout from the incident:

…Johnson…has been charged with felony counts of aggravated battery and child abuse, as well as misdemeanor counts of filing a false report, affray and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Soon after the Aug. 19 incident Johnson posted a $35,000 bond and was released from jail.

I am pretty sure I heard the kid say “I would like to see that” so I guess he got what he wanted. Why did the kid hug and shake hands with the adult after he got pummeled? Dad clearly has some issues but this whole thing seems pretty weird to me.

  It doesn’t matter what the kid said. He is a kid, that is what you are missing. And it is against the law to put your paws on someone else’s child. But judging by the way you post and your out landish screen name, I am certain you would have done the same. But the thing is the kid probably would have kicked your ass good.

  Don’t you people watch the video???? That was his Son he hugged and shook hands with after the victim walked out the gate. The father was taunting the kid saying, “That’s right run away” and the kid leaves, then the Jerk turns around and shakes hands with HIS SON.

  It wasn’t his child; it was the other one that he beat. 16-year olds don’t always make good decisions like they think they do…….going to someone else’s back yard, where nobody could see, to fight another kid at the request of that dad…..I’m sure he learned his lesson not to trust anyone, especially fellow males of his own race.

  @ JZS. Where did you get religion from this article? Please enlighten me as the articale did not mention anything about religion in it whatsoever. I‘m sure atheists and liberals do a better job raising children when they teach them there’s no higher authority to answer to for their actions and civil disobedience is OK when you don’t agree with the authorities.

  We had an a-h-o -L-e like that working for our company and he regularly would beat on his step son like that. One night the kid came home with his friends from school and put the guy in the hospital for a few weeks. I was disappointed that he pulled through but very happy for his step son.

  The scenario aside (fight set up), I think the beat down was warranted. The kid stood in the older mans face as though he wanted to fight. So the older guy knocked him on his butt. If my son has the gal to stand up to an older, bigger man – then he will get beat down like a man.

  I agree with puritandude. I’m a woman but if I saw a guy beating a kid like, husband or stranger, I would be on his back scratching his eyes out to make him stop. In what reality would any moron think it‘s a good idea to set up which a fight between one’s own kid and another? Who the heck is the adult here? That guy belongs in jail and his kids should be taken away from him.

Had a kid for the next street over whom used to bully my stepson, one day he started a fight and my neighbor and I broke it up, the bully went home and told his dad that I was beating him, NO such thing. The dad decided he was going to come over and teach me a lesson, well the 6 foot 2 inch dad thought he could beat my butt, well this 5 foot 6 inch, took the dad off his feet and tied him up until the police arrived, whom then arrested him. The bully a few years later overdosed on drugs and that ended him for good.

Any father of a teenage boy knows that there will come a day when the young man will want to test the waters so to speak. This happens to many animals. You must establish who the dominant male is. As a father you can’t let it go. I would never beat my son like that nor would I kick him, but I would establish my dominance in my house. These teenage boys are ready and want to be men, but they just don’t know how yet. Sitting down and explaining whats going on in their head is the way to approach it. let them know that it is ok what they are feeling and then offer up a way to vent the fustration.

  …sorry the kick to the face is what did it for me….i am all for putting a punk kid in his place but that was over the line…there is no honor in that…….oh and when the kid was on the ground and getting the continued punches to the head…instead of punching he could have been holding him down talking some sense into his head, something along the lines of….was that a smart thing for you to do?….

  Actually not true. The video was edited so that the end of the two kids‘ fight was put after the father’s beating of him. It’s clear that the father congratualted the kid for winning the fight then when the kid said something else things got heated and the father decided to beat the kid down for mothing off. Unacceptable.
