One local went over the edge in New York City Friday during the unbearable 104 degree heat. The New York Daily News reports and has exclusive video of 42-year-old Richard Arrocho trying to hijack a MTA Train in the Bronx with a screwdriver:
From the video you can see Arrocho forcing himself into a motorman’s cab while exclaiming that someone wanted to kill him. The mad man is accused of entering the front-car cab by climbing through an open side window from a wall aside the tracks.
“‘I was shocked,’ George said. ‘I couldn’t believe it – he was inside my cab.’
‘He said, ‘Move the train or I’m going to f—–g kill you,” George added. ‘He wouldn’t let me open the door. He pulled a screwdriver and tried to stab me.’”
Motoman Darryl George later thanked God for the brave passengers that helped him ward off the screwdriver-weilding lunatic.
“There are still good people in New York City.”
The Daily News reports that court records show Arrocho claimed someone was trying to kill him in retaliation for a previous robbery.
“The source said Arrocho has a history of mental illness and spent time in a psych ward. He was charged with felony attempted assault, menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon – a pointy Phillips-head screwdriver. He was being held on $2,500 bail.
He has been arrested at least 40 times since 1985 on charges ranging from robbery to petty larceny, records show.”
There are crazies out there, but an even greater number of good people to keep them in check.

Posted on July 26, 2011 at 2:34pmLock him up for everyone’s safety including his own. He‘s lucky he hasn’t been killed yet by someone defending themselves. I couldn’t blame them. Sometime you just can’t ask questions before someone does something bad to you.
If he freaks someone out and they have a heart attack, frankly, he should be the one to die (sad though it is) instead of the frightened person.
