Shooting Update: Video Captures Frenzied Evacuation of Arizona Mall

As shots erupted at the Chandler Mall in an exchange between wanted fugitive Daniel Perez and undercover police, alarms rang out inside the Arizona mall, warning shoppers to evacuate the premises.

Footage submitted to CNN captured the moments of panic at the scene as eyewitness Scott Cahill describes what happened:

    Yea, doesn’t look frenzied to me. Looks like a rational exit.

    Though the comment that ‘it didn’t look like anyone was shooting because people weren‘t running’ is kind of silly. Look at the shooting at the school board meeting a few weeks ago. Everybody sat calmly in denial of what they were seeing as a guy spray painted a big V on the wall and THEN drew a gun. If people didn‘t lock up and pretend it wasn’t happening, they could have taken him down before he even got the gun out.

    Moral of the story? Treat crazies like crazies.

    I have a CCW Permit and I don’t carry in Federal Buildings or any Courthouse. Other Gun Free Zones don‘t exist as far as I’m concerned. I have taken numerous courses in the use of deadly force in the course of obtaining and renewing my Permit. I’ve been shooting for 60+ years and am a Vietnam Veteran. I know how to use firearms safely and legally. For me not to carry in a ripe terrorist target like a shopping mall would be worse than irresponsible.

    My brother-in-law was the officer who traded gunfire with this scumbag. Since he’s an undercover officer, he wasn’t wearing his vest at the time. We‘re just glad he’s safe tonight…

    After the shooting in a mall just 40 miles from where I live I’m always a little on edge when I go into a mall these days. They had extra security in the malls shortly after the incident however it didn‘t make me feel any safer because often you’d see security eating at the food court.

    My husband and I took a firemarms class this past fall. I’ve always hated guns, but I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. I hope all patriots take one like it. We have a certificate to get a license to carry a concealed weapon. We haven’t purchased the licenses yet, but plan to do so soon. I doubt if we ever carry a gun, but in case we decide to do so, we’ll be “legit.” Stay safe, patriots, and if you haven’t taken a gun class, please do so.

      I too have done the same thing. Believe it or not, they don’t care as they think theres going to be someone else walking in behind you. That’s fine with me. If you don’t care about your customers safety by disarming them, you DON’T need my money!!!

    They just passed a law in Arizona last year where you don’t even need a permit or classes to have a concealed gun. I‘m surprised a regular citizen didn’t blast this Mexican.

    I wish Glenn would cover more of the problems with illegal immigrants. It‘s an issue that’s totally ignore or spun by the mainstream media. In the last year, I’ve been robbed by illegal immigrants and had them fill up an American flag with trash and throw it on my property. The media won’t report on any story that portrays illegals as anyone other than nice people who are just coming here for work and opportunity. Completely ignored is the fact that 2/3‘s of the Mexican people don’t even acknowledge the United States’ right to exist.

    Glenn, if you want to lead, you need to step up your focus on the problem of illegal immigration. IT‘S A BIGGER THREAT TO AMERICA’S FUTURE THAN PROGRESSIVES OR THE DEBT!!!

      The left? I think the right has certainly devalued plenty of human lives in Iraq (x2) and Afghanistan. Not to mention, of course, that all of those valueless public school progeny have access to virtually any firearm of their choosing…just short of an M-60. Yeah…..it’s the lefties.       As to public schools, yep the left has certainly devalued our education with revisionist history, and the plan is to dumb down our society, so we become more dependent on our dear benevolent leaders. Just read and do research on the beginnings of the Dept of Education and the Rockerfeller’s, Carneage’s, it’s all documented for you to see, if you so choose! Hell, why do you think a bunch of our teens wear Che Guavera T-shirts, because the liberal communist left promotes them in class, and people in the White House, “…”look to Chairman Mao and Mother Theresa for inspiration..”, I kinda want to vomit now, excuse me.

      Of course it wasn’t frenzied…all of us here have firearms and know how to use them. We no longer need a permit to carry concealed either…

      This was nothing more than a spin being put on this story by CNN. The suspect is in custody and no one was hurt.

      The only problem is MOST malls have a NO FIREARMS policy! That’s why they call them “killing zones” in LEO circles. Ever notice where MOST shootings take place? Schools, Malls, and Post Offices are known “Firearm Free” zones where someone who is actually legally LICENSED to carry a firearm, can’t!! I carry everywhere I go as me and my family are NOT going to be a victims. Until we change the laws, the bad guys will no where to go to kill the maximum amount of victims!

      NE Cowboy, you’re right. Firearm free zones are a menace to peaceable folks (think Ft. Hood shooting) and the bad guys take advantage of this. That’s why I like the phrase: where one is not allowed to be armed, is is best to be armed. ;-)

      I agreetoo am in Az. and my Glock has a new motto stolen from American Express, “Never Leave Home Without IT!!” I ALWAYS recommends that ANYONE who thinks they want to carry MUST take the training class.. If nothing else for your own protection on what the laws will allow. And yes the little sign at the door is a personal establishment policy (and can be enforced if they want) and I believe it is more for Lawsuites than anything. If you are a civil person and do not flash it around how do they know you are carring or not? I NEVER give my hold card away. Most people would never guess and I will not tell them.
