Shootings Skyrocket in NYC…and Cops Blame Occupy Wall Street

While the Occupiers hit bongo drums and have sing-alongs about crashing the American economic system, the rest of New York City is becoming a more dangerous place to live.Shootings Skyrocket in NYC While the Occupiers Chant on Wall Street

The crime statistics are in, and they are disturbing. In one week this month, there was an over 150% spike in New Yorkers shot, a jump from 22 to 56 over the same period last year. Overall, the number of New Yorkers hit by bullets was up almost 30 percent in the last month as compared to last year, according to the New York Post.

The recent surge has pushed gun violence beyond last year’s tally as of October 16th. And the cops aren’t shy about identifying a major part of the problem: Occupy Wall Street.

To babysit the Zuccotti Park protestors, police have diverted important resources from the most crime-ridden areas of the city. One high-ranking NYPD officer told the Post:

“Normally, the task force is used in high-crime neighborhoods where you have a lot of shootings and robberies. They are always used when there are spikes in crime as a quick fix. But instead of being sent to Jamaica, Brownsville and the South Bronx, they are in Wall Street.”

Shootings Skyrocket in NYC While the Occupiers Chant on Wall StreetAnd while crimes are up, certain specialized units have been making fewer arrests. The Organized Crime Control Bureau, for one, has seen arrests drop 19% this year.

In this environment of rising crime, it should concern New Yorkers and all Americans that the NYPD is also receiving heavy criticism and defamation from Occupy Wall Street and its allies. Crime is on the rise, and our police are embattled by leftists and a sympathetic media.

If the NYPD is having a hard time keeping New Yorkers safe while watching the Occupiers, other cities undergoing Occupation could see their security deteriorate much faster, with even more violence.

Just imagine if NYC were able to practice their 2nd amendment right as intend in the Constitution, there wouldn’t be this problem, but unfortunately, this is a prime example of the only the criminals having the gun and law abiding citizens being left at the mercy of the government for their own protection. Ahhh, the lib utopia.

Did you hear that the protesters are floating the idea of printing their own money. ( http://www.americanparchment.com/video/2011/oct/ows_print_money.html ) If you want to talk about something against the law, printing your own money would be the first thing to get you into jail.

I guess that is what you call, ‘Survival of the Fittest’… send all the violent and law breakers to jail. Teach them something they will never forget. THERE IS A RULE OF LAW…

If the people were allowed to fully exercise their 2nd amendment rights; the crime rate would drop and while there may be a brief climb in the new attendees heading for boot hill, soon enough most would either be weeded out or heading for greener pasteur.

In AZ thankfully we do not have many repeat offenders with firearms, the idiots get weeded out on the first time around.

I “agreed” with an anti-2nd amend. person not to long ago and said, sure I could consider giving up my guns, since there is “so much gun violence” (really?), BUT you have to guarantee me that criminals will not have guns too…can you guarantee me that?….and of course she couldn’t, and actually said “hmmmm”. Of course she never thought through how she would actually remove ALL guns, it just sounded so good, but alas, real life got in the way.

      @Rajabear1

In the mind of a modern liberal. I had a scary conversation with one of my super modern liberal (socialist) little sisters a few weeks ago. The subject was conceal carry. We are, in my opinion, lucky to live in a state that allows it. We also enjoy a relatively low crime rate, go figure eh? But that’s another story.

The scary part about our conversation was that her whole argument was based on how she ‘feels’ uncomfortable not knowing if someone around her has a concealed firearm. My response, after wiping the confused look off my face, was to say are you serious? “You’re uncomfortable by the people who abide by the law, obtain a handgun permit, then take the special conceal carry training, go through the background checks and are under heavier scrutiny by law enforcement for any firearm related injuries they cause with their weapon? I think you should be more worried about the dope that buys one on the street, who has never fired one in their entire lives outside of a video game and thinks it’s a toy or gangsta symbol of power.”

Needless to say… the conversation went downhill from there. I‘d disown her if she wasn’t my sister. Maybe someday she’ll come around. :o)

Again I say: People always seem to emphasize the wrong part of the Second Amendment, IMO.

A well regulated Militia, BEING NECESSARY TO THE SECURITY OF A FREE STATE, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Necessary to the security of a free state. This article shows that point well, me thinks.

But sometimes, they can’t be EVERYWHERE…(wink wink) so we need random checkpoints all over the place, mobile guard towers, touchy feely patdowns, 1 million face scanning/infrared/milimeter wave/microwave/bomb sniffing/ cameras pointed at everything, and yea.

If I am doing drugs on your front lawn you are OK with that?

The police would not have to stand around if the Protesters acted like adults – and yes they have been breaking the law frequently and have been arrested daily. Your either a hack for them or completely blind to why a heavy police force is necessary for the little children camping out.

If the owner of the park that the kids are camping in doesn’t care to ask the police to throw them out, then the vast majority of the protesters aren’t doing anything illegal or wrong, and they’re not responsible for the money the city spends to have cops stand around doing nothing.

I just read a bunch of posts by you and outside of the ‘what the heck are you getting at’ thoughts that run through my head, I’ve come to the conclusion that your issue is deeper than wealth distribution. In nearly everyone post, spanning several articles, you are pretty anti-Sematic aren’t you?

That aside I have a couple of questions for you. What happens if we take all the money away from the large companies, domestic and international, and give it all back to the people? Economic bliss? What are the people going to do with the money when companies start to collapse and go out of business because we just took all the company money away? They need operating expenses and money to invest in new products… and, heaven forbid, pay their employees. What kind of signal does that send to people who wish to start their own business in the future? And finally, we need international companies. As much as I promote ‘buy American’ the hard facts are that we live in a consumption based society where the lowest price sells the product, you want your sneakers from China or your bed comforter from India at low low prices don’t you?

But I stray from the topic at hand here. Point is, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. I highly suspect that if you had large sums of money or a business to run you wouldn’t be so pi$$ed off at our imperfect but wonderful capitalist system.

Capitalism promotes competition, better products and higher quality of labor. Marxist, communists and socialists will never understand this, all systems but capitalism have failed and destroyed the ambition of the people to succeed. If big government were the answer it would have worked in Europe or Asia by now any success they have had has come from moving more to a capitalist system.

This is all smoke, mirrors and bs. The pigs are union, jack-booted, thugs and on the take, just as much as the ows flakes. Both are pawns on the same side of the chessboard. This is all in place to create a false emergency to get stricter controls on guns, more pigs and more money for pig pensions. “Never let a crisis go to waste”. Especially when you can manufacture one. Pure Hegelian thought.

Arguing pigs vs ows is mind-numbingly, brain-washed. If you claim you want to restore the Republic; can you tell me where pigs are authorized? As I see it, they are a permanent standing army which is forbidden by the constitution. ELECTED Sheriffs and well-armed citizenry is all we need –not freaking tax sucking “jobs” to employ those that treat a shot pig with more urgency than the average citizen. This is a gang. A “brotherhood” of right tramplers.(particularly the 4th)

Before you bash me, you need to begin with the authorization under the constitution. If you don’t have that your argument is moot. Don’t come at me claiming to be some patriot or conservative while you act like a cop sycophant for no other reason than you bought the lie that it is leftist to not support cops. Cops are illegal.

But the trouble is that your sins have cut you off from God. Because of sin He has turned His face away….For your hands are those of murderers…You lie and grumble and oppose the good. This is what commies do, overwhelm the system to the breaking point. If people die, so be it, it is in the best interest of the movement. Fox Piven and Van Jones could tell us all about it.

Some of the toughest gun control in the nation and big surprise, it doesn’t work.

You can bet that Bloomberg says it isn’t tough enough.

I don’t think bullets are illegal. So you hold the shell with a pair of pliers and strike the primer with enough force to cause the bullet to launch. This is what must be happening since they can’t have guns.

The shootings have to be from Police Officers. No one else in NYC has a gun, just ask Bloomberg.

Excellent idea. You should run for Mayor of NY. Then use the funds to clean the park when these open handers leave. Better yet, charge them rental fees for their tent/apartment. Rates should be equal to a one bedroom in a park setting.

Absolutely. It is definitely a diffusely organized and well executed plan for Marxist takeover the the US via Top Down, Bottom Up. Now the president is making good on his commands to his advisers to subvert the elected officials of the Republic. This looks very much like the tactics used by Chavez… Obama’s Marxist buddy. Impeach first, vote out second. If those don’t work, it will be time for the remaining Free states of the West and the South to secede to form a Republic again.

As expected, the mercenaries have escalated their demonstration to violent confrontation. http://commonsense21c.com/
Expect the media to try to elicit sympathy for these pathetic dupes of the Wannabe Tyrants. Remember, the purpose of these demonstrations is to produce the chaos to justify the declaration of martial law, suspension of the Constitution and final consolidation of the Tyrant’s power.

Any declaration of sympathy for these mercenaries will only escalate the violence and enhance the Wannabe Tyrant’s objective.

There can be no compromise with these mercenaries. The only compromise, they will accept are those that increase their power and escalate the violence. Do not forget that chaos and violence is the objective of these mercenaries’ leaders.

The chaos justifying the declaration of martial law and suspension of the Constitution requires considerable violence. Sufficient force must be brought to bear on these mercenaries to end this civil disobedience before the American Revolution ends in a dictatorship. It is much later than you think!

Mr. Obama’s declaration of martial law will certainly precipitate armed revolution. The important question is not if Mr. Obama will succeed in becoming a Dictator or be replaced by the leader of the revolution. The question is if successful in deposing Mr. Obama, will the leader of that revolution refuse the crown and reinstate the Constitution or will he, like Castro assume dictatorial powers. Whe

In light of the fact that the minds behind OWS want a collapse of the system to formet civil unrest….then why should the stinky OWSers care? This is exactly what they want. And Bloomberg in his zeal to cater to the left would rather see shootings escalate than than remove the health hazard and fiscal burden that is “Fecesstock” at Zucotti Park.

No, it’s their unprofessionalism that caused it to escalate out of obscurity. Does anyone remember the first week of this thing? There were like a couple of hundred people, and no press coverage other than snarky mocking of how small and ineffectual it was. That didn’t start to change until the first time the NYPD overreacted.

And yeah, when you have a traffic problem, you send traffic cops, not the riot squad.
