Shoplifter Uses Hatchet to Chop Off Security Guard’s Ear

LONGVIEW, Wash. (The Blaze/AP) — Police in Washington state say a shoplifter with a hatchet sliced off most of a store security guard’s ear.
Longview police Sgt. Doug Kazensky tells The Daily News that the shoplifter pulled a small hatchet out of his waistband Monday afternoon and swung, chopping off nearly the entire ear.
The guard was taken to a Portland hospital for emergency plastic surgery in an attempt to reattach the ear.
The attacker remained at large.
The assault took place just outside the garden center entrance of a Fred Meyer supermarket. Kazensky says two security officers were trying to apprehend the man, who was suspected of taking CDs, bike chains and other small items.
KGW-TV reports:
33-year old David Morrison was trying to contact a shoplifting suspect when the attack happened, according to Sgt. John Reeves with the Longview Police Department.
Police say the assault happened after the man left the store, outside the entrance to the garden center. They say the man had several items in a cart he had taken from the store.
The man apparently brought the hatchet to the store with him.
“It’s crazy that anything can be that important to cut off an employee’s ear. Whether you were shoplifting or whether you weren’t,” customer Kyle Powers told KGW.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 4:53pmI have worked at that store and its FM policy NOT to engage shop lifters. Only store security is authorized to do so. I‘ll bet they’ll can him over this. :( FM used to be a great place to work, but bean counters made it a nightmare.
Also Longview is CRACK central for Cowlitz and Clark county. Sorry to say that, but crack heads rule Longview like Obama does DC.

They use the the garden center because it’s has an escape route in the summer. This world is out of control and I pity anyone in L.P. or A.P. these days because they make a measly 40K a year and suffer this and other threats. That unlike the liberal minded, who in terror/criminal cases pretend to be completely oblivious to race, you do not cowardly and unintelligently discount who is more than not the usual suspects. That being said we can no longer put statements out there saying, “I am betting this was a black guy.” It is an unfortunate fact that the majority of violent crimes that are committed in this country is by black males. With that being said, while writing or speaking in the public domain, keep in mind that this statistic is not a result of the color of a person’s skin. It is a result of an economic situation coupled with the breakdown of the nuclear family (overbearingly so in the black community), loss of cultural values (including the violence and hate that has become the norm in media outlets: music, movies, games), and many years of real and percieved economic persecution … This does not excuse behavior.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 12:54pmAlso, and this is very minor to what I have said above. The man with the hatchet was a white man. Please think about the cause and keep your emotions in check when putting things out there for public to see. We are at the most important time in history.
I am 25 years old and am watching my children’s rights go away every day with economic hardships/possible global war on the horizon. It is clear that our government knows what is coming and is poising itself to take control of a population.
1. Right to keep any “SUSPECTED terrorist” without trial for any period of time.
2. Right to shutdown any internet site because of the “CLAIM of intellectual property law violations.”
3. A government chip in every phone for a “text message early warning system.”
These three things were in the news just yesterday. JUST YESTERDAY !
Historic moment people. Do everything you can to support a conservative for every office. Do not let the media, including “conservative hosts,” say this guy is unelectable. The only reason one may be considered unelctable is because the media spreads that verbage about someone.
Vote in your local elections.
Call you local officals, congresspeople, and senators.
For your not yet converted friends and family: Put the facts out there for them and let them come to the only logical conclusion.
Stand strong together and get involved.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 11:17amI’m unfamiliar with the carry laws of Washington State but in Florida, it’s not a violation of State law to carry concealed on quasi public property such as shopping centers and stores. Had a citizen who was lawfully armed confronted Mr. Hatchet man and had to engage him to protect his or the clerks life, the headline would have mentioned the word “hero” and the words “no one was injured but the hatchet man”….. or similar words to that effect. However, the caveat to this is employer enforced “No Gun Zones”. Anyone can regulate who carries on their property. I do not advocate civilians doing the job of the police but if one takes the time to train themselves and learn when and how to employ force, crime rates will fall against civilians. It is a fact most of my friends carry concealed firearms because a cop is too heavy. I believe we need to change the thinking and the culture of our society. We need to stop thinking guns are bad and put the contempt and anger towards the animals who seek out and victimize those who are just going about their daily lives. We need to just start enforcing the laws already on the books. As a Law Enforcement Officer with 29+ years on the job, I have no fear of lawfully armed citizens. In fact, in almost three decades, I have never been assaulted or shot at by a lawfully armed citizen. However, I could fill a book of the times I have been attacked, assaulted and shot at by the criminal element in this world.

The reason, when they do catch this jackwagon he will be charged with something big for potentially delivering a fatal blow but it will be knocked down to the equivalent of a school yard fist fight by the P.A. and the guy will be back on the prowl buy the end of January. Once his name is released I will stake some serious coin he has a lengthy criminal history likely including violent crime at some level.
I ask the same question, why isn’t this guy leaking critical body fluids I am confident somebody armed appropriately was close, but since he was outside already I suspect it went down fast.

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 9:34amthis is why in many states they are no longer called guards but officers.seurity officers(i have been one for over 25 years) are considered law enforcement because they like all law officers have to risk their lives. we don’t get to carry(many of the times) any typye of weapon to defend ourselves. as well as we get paid only a small portion of what peace officers recieve, with no benes. alot of security is trained officer style i myself am trained in baton, handcuff, got certified with a overall score of 88 both on a .357, and a 408k police assault rifle(yep that’s right you have a 12% chance of living against me in a gun fight. :D) as well as a 2nd degree brown belt in karate. i have been shot twice, and stabbed once.
