Man Shot Dead Near Occupy Oakland Camp

One man has been shot dead near the Occupy Oakland encampment at Frank Ogawa Plaza.

The shooting took place just before 5 p.m. local time near the BART station and multiple other shots were fired.

KTVU reports:

A KTVU cameraman witnessed the man collapse in front of the Tully’s Coffee Shop at 14th Street and Broadway shortly before 5 p.m. KTVU reporter Janine de La Vega was in the area preparing to go live on the air when she said she heard several shots.

Emergency responders tried to resuscitate the victim, who was described as a black male, as he was being lifted into an ambulance.

The victim died shortly after, authorities said.

According to KTVU word has spread that members of the media may also be injured in an incident unrelated to the shooting.

Occupy Oakland protesters told the media that the shooting had nothing to do with the encampment and didn’t involve any activists. Proteers surrounded the scene of the shooting and made  a human chain to keep photographers from filming the victim.

Barucha Peller, who is part of the Occupy Oakland encampment, said some of the first people to help the victim were medics from the camp.

She said the shooting happened next to the camp, not in it. “The only direct Occupy Oakland involvement was in order to provide emergency first-aid services,” she said.

The BART station reopened roughly half an hour after the shooting.

Please check back for updates.

This could have been drug related or just another scewed up protester , but it is something that most of us are expecting to start happening by design. There is nothing the organizers won’t do to advance their agenda. A little history here during world war 1 communists joined the Czar’s military not to fight Germany but to organize defeat, the point is they will do anything even kill one of their own and use it against the establishment the ends justifies the means.

An couple hours or so ago the Mayor was being interviewed before this news broke and did not even know that the city council had ordered that the lights and water in the park area be shut off. While I was out running errands the local news were saying that it was pitch black out there when the shooting took place. I am sure that it will be blamed somehow on the City regardless if it was a protestor or other malicious activity. The encampments need to be shut down NOW.

Oakland has one of the highest crime rates in the United States. Since this is your 24/7 anti-OWS station, of course they’ll try to link any crime committed “near” OWS protesters to the movement, just as they did with New York (a city many readers seemed to assume was normally crime free before OWS).

Fortunately readers can rest easy that, regardless of the causes of violent crime in the past, they are now free to assume that all crime in Oakland, or New York, was caused by OWS protesters. Perhaps all the crime in the United States is now caused by the OWS movement.

Fortunately most of the protesters are non-violent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U7mOscsmos

I think it’s about time we started using our brains. All the Occupy encampments around the country should have a strudy but temporary fence/wall built around the Camps to keep the OWS crowd in. Then we just sit back and let them eat each other into oblivion! Problem solved!

What should we do with the protesters that “are violent”? Treat them the same as the non-violent protesters? Treat them as criminals? Put them in jail? Let them run free? Give them McD’s Happy Meals for free? Buy tents and sleeping bags for them? Cancel their expensive college loans that the colleges set the rate at? Punish the banks for lending them the money to attend over-priced colleges? You do know that the only way to get a loan for college now is through the Federal Government? Banks CAN NOT gives loans for college any more. Obama signed an Executive Order on that one. Did you know that a$$ wipe? Poor JZS doesn’t know a thing. Just spews cr@p and gets off on it.

From KATU.com: “Recent incidents at the Occupy Portland camps include attacks on media crews in the park, a rising crime rate, litter, drug use and issues with sewage and other sanitary conditions.”

But, since Oakland is already rife with crime, there’s no way a similar situation can…what?

If a graph shows an apparent 0.8 degree average increase in global temps over the past 100 years,
it’s an emergency — we have to do something drastic, immediately; but if numerous cameras expose violence, vile behavior, crime and disease at these camps, it’s either described as a normal consequence of having such a large gathering (like any given Lutheran picnic), rationalized as an “understandable” reaction, downplayed as an aberration, or the work of “fringe elements.”

Regarding the Berkeley incident, if a bunch of students try to mass against a group of police who are attempting to dismantle tents that are on private property, i.e. belonging to the Regents of the University of California, the young academics should be intelligent enough to expect that they may be subject to being prodded with something other than soft cushions.

So Monk, I say to you this. If as you ponder, as you meditate, as you seek out the ultimate truth, as you receive the spiritual guidance of those gifts upon Earth that enhance emotional experience while sharpening the mind; if you can let go the anger, the insults, references to people I’ve never heard of, and give a response befitting your stature as a monk, then I shall respond to any argument you deign to present to me. The one thing i want to ask some of the protesters (especially the young, clueless ones) is it worth it? Are the rapes, od’s, drug use, TB (now reported at one occupy), shootings, destruction of businesse and livelihoods and property—are they worth it? Do you still want to stay and promote your “cause” even though you can’t say exactly what that cause is? Is your student loan debt, that YOU chose to take, worth someone losing their life for? Wrong questions. Most at OWS are unaware of the true facts of life. They know only what they are spoon-fed. Your logic does not match theirs.

The difference between OWS and the other organized revolutions in very recent history is the US protesters have much ‘stuff’. Either they’re rich kids, endowment kids, or are on significant gov dole. They feign hardship, but few of them are really destitute. Some have too much to loose if things get dicey; others are too weenie-like because of their life style. If push came to shove, many tails would move between the legs. We have not seen any opposition from the leftist mayors, yet. However, great theater.

First Burlington, now Oakland; is this the beginning of a pre planned series of events, designed to ratchet up the pressure initiated by Van Jones, the Unions and the administration?

One event could be truly random, two possible; if a third one happens, then expect the admin to use this as one more attempt and opportunity to blame the tea party, and conservatives as well; along with some kind of emergency response to “aid the peaceful protesters” while setting up the next move of the game.

The “useful idiots” time of sacrifice on behalf of the administration may be at hand.

This was inevitable and planned, and should come as no surprise to anyone. The violence is escalating, 2 shootings today alone. As long as the local governments choose to remain complicit in the blatant breaking of the law, it will get worse and worse. Bottom up. Local governments will then ask for Federal help as it gets too far out of hand. Top down.

      Inside/Out.

Anyone who has been paying attention, doing their homework, listening to Glenn and doing their own research should not even be remotely surprised by this.

Anyone who thinks this is spontaneous and not planned is in a dreamland. Get all these aimless partying kids together 24/7 with no monitoring and the far left guiding them and it is step by step Cloward and Pivin in action.

This weekends Veterans Day activities ,How many will be occupied…?
I’m sure the OWS people would love to highjack a Parade .
I dont know what would happen if that would take place…?
The cold weather will stop them from getting to crazy in the northern states.
But places like Oakland,I would bet they will go all winter,

Marnin — the thing I am concerned greatly about is that since the admin has not been able to provoke the tea party, conservatives and most other citizens into causing a violent scene they can exploit, this and other shootings I expect to soon occur, have been arranged to “make an event happen.”

Given the history of Obama, his goals and the utter disregard he has for anything save his own agenda to destroy the nation, nothing can be put past him or his allies.

And I agree totally with SNOWLEOPARD. Obama is capable of doing anything. Especially if he believes he will lose the election.

The Media will pin this on Sarah Palin and the tea party.Just like we were told how we were terrible bigots for burning down the Mosque in Georgia that was burnt down by a Muslim.

Snowleopard, you are right. The administration was and is hoping that the TEA Party and other patriots will get involved and fight back. Then they can call the National Guard and invoke marshal law. However, if that does not happen, then just the violence that OWS invokes upon itself will have to be enough. It will probably happen, either way.

Martial will be declared sometime before summer, then Barry will suspend the elections.
