According to legislation introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives, 9/11 families should get a piece of the OBL bounty pie.
CNN:
Any unclaimed bounty money from the death of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden should go to the first responders, victims’ families and survivors of the 9/11 terror attacks, a pair of New York congressmen said Sunday.
Reps. Anthony Weiner and Jerrold Nadler have introduced legislation that would award up to $50 million of the bounty approved by Congress to help fund organizations that provide health care, psychological care and other resources to those most directly affected in the September 11, 2001, attacks.
“These programs are ones that desperately need funding that are still everyday dealing with the ramifications of September 11,” Weiner said at a news conference from ground zero.
“Hopefully they will now benefit from this reward money.”
The bounty is part of the Rewards for Justice program run by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security. Since its creation in 1984, it has paid out over $100 million to more than 60 people.

Posted on May 12, 2011 at 3:53amAbsolutely not. Congress robs everyone automatically. That bounty was promised to the people who got bin Ladin. If anyone deserves a piece of it, it is the ones who helped them get essential info needed to do the job and the team that did the DIRECT heavy lifting for it, and if anyone else deserves for Congress to give them OTHER MONEY besides the Bounty – NOT FROM THE BOUNTY – give it to the Military men who have paid the price to make this happen.
I‘m beyond fed up with Congress’ THIEVING ways! I want Names who who votes HOW!

Posted on May 11, 2011 at 2:48pmNo they should not. The 9-11 victims families have been compensated many times over – first by large insurance policies many of these wealthy, well connected New Yorkers carried then by the compensation fund. Trying to lay their hands on award money that should go to the Navy Seal Team that got Bin Laden if it goes to anyone is disgusting.

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 9:37pmNo way. It should go to the Military heroes. There are so many in the military who are on food stamps. That’s what should be fixed. The heroes should get the money.

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 1:02pmI do know the victims who were exposed to all the pollution such as firefighters, police and people in the area when the buildings collapsed went through hell getting the compensation and went through a lot of hell. Some could not work, let alone breath and their healthcare was eliminated when they could no longer work anymore from respiratory issues. A lot of the firefighters and etc. died from agony of not breathing and on respirators and for years were still waiting on money that good ole New York dragged their feet on. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 10:27amAbsolutely not…the relatives already received millions of dollars. The government does not owe anyone, anything for a terrorist attack. Now, everyone expects some sort of compensation if their relatives are killed. Pay down the debt.

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 8:51amHow about we just don’t spend it. We are over 14 trillion in the hole! We don’t have the luxury of donating 50 million bucks of Chinas money to any group no matter how deserving!

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 3:39amNot to take anything away from those that actually lost friends and family, my heart goes out to you, we are all and may forever be victims of 9-11. Perhaps the money should be given to Wounded Warriors. We owe so much to those who have given life and limb for our freedom.

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 12:59amThere are millions of victims of crimes in this world. Many do not get any money for being a victim. I feel these people were given a fair amount of money. Why should they get millions more when others have to suck it up and move on.

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 1:45amAbsolutely not. The 9/11 victims, responders, etc. already have received funds from various sources. If anyone should get this money, it should be our military and their families.
The Weiner and Nadler are trying to figure out some way to get their meat hooks into it. There’s nothing like a pot of money to get these two off their duffs.

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 2:21amI agree. Everyone is a victim of something to a degree and more often than not you don’t get anything for your pain and suffering. If anything, the bounty should go to military families who have had their loved ones gone for all this time, some not coming back.

Posted on May 10, 2011 at 7:45amI feel extremely sorrowful for all of those who lost someone on 9/11, however, they had been fairly and justly compensated since then including the final justice of having Bin Laden taken out. I do not think the “bounty” on Bin Laden was thought of to be used for compensation to the victims of 9/11, therefore the money should be used for the Wounded Warrior program or something of that nature for all of the wounded heroes who have been instrumental in fighting the war on terror.
