Singer Kelly Clarkson Sees 192% Increase in Album Sales After Tweeting Support of Ron Paul

Pop singer Kelly Clarkson, the first contestant to win “American Idol,” took a lot of heat this week after she sent a message on Twitter saying she supported Ron Paul and would vote for him if he got the GOP nomination. She was skewered for those remarks. But now she may have the last laugh as one site reports sales of one her albums are skyrocketing since the endorsement.

First, a little background from HuffPo:

“I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance,” Kelly Clarkson wrote on Twitter and WhoSay on Wednesday. “If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.”

[...]

Addressing the criticism, Clarkson later tweeted:

“I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women’s rights, men’s rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he’s my favorite.”

Clarkson later told an angry Twitter follower that “I have never heard that he’s a racist? I definitely don’t agree with racism, that’s ignorant.” She told another that, “I love all people and could care less if you like men or women. I have never heard that Ron Paul is a racist or homophobe?”

The pop star continued her defense, saying: “Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight. If y‘all ever disagree with something I say please don’t feel the need to attack me. I will listen to what you say and any articles or viewpoints you have when you say it with respect. Being hateful is not a healthy way to get people to see or hear you. I was raised to respect people and their decisions and beliefs and I hope you will grant me the same decency. If you don’t agree with me simply unfollow me. It’s really that easy. I hope you don‘t because I would love the chance to hear what you have to say but if you’re so blinded by hate you can’t seek peace and progress then that is your unfortunate prerogative.”

Despite her detractors, it seems many more are supportive of Clarkson than disapprove. The website Gossip Cop reports that sales of her album “Stronger” are up a whopping 192% on Amazon.com:

Sales of Clarkson’s album “Stronger” have soared on Amazon ever since the singer tweeted,  “I love Ron Paul,” and “He’s got my vote.”

In the past 24 hours, Clarkson’s record was up 192% on the online retail site.

A day before the former “American Idol” winner explained why she’s a Paul supporter, “Stronger” was ranked #41 on Amazon’s “Movers & Shakers in Music” list.

Today, the album is up to #14.

A snapshot of the Amazon.com “Movers & Shakers” web page confirms the jump:

Stronger, indeed.

Why to you try to distort things?

Ron Paul’s speech in Iowa last week was interrupted with Occupiers chanting against him ending the EPA (the organization pushing the global agenda and interfering so much with business, zoning, etc.)

There are many of us who are simply sick and tired of the Republicans constantly sending us candidates that govern to the left of what they ran on. Fool me once…shame on you. Fool me twice…shame on me.

There is a very large percentage of the Republican party that leans Libertarian and we have been taken for granted for years. We held our noses and voted for the lesser of two evils time after time, and look where that got us.

Now that our own party has gone so far as to pass legislation that allows the Army to come to your door and arrest you with no evidence, no jury, no charges, and no release date…many have finally figured out that voting for people capable of passing these kinds of laws is simply insane.

For those like myself who are offered the choice between Mao and Mussolini, the choice will simply be none of the above!

Now listen you Neo-Cons, many of us will simply write in Ron Paul if he does not win the nomination, because voting for the lesser of two evils only brought us more evil.

They think America bullies them around, uses force. The man in charge right now is the one against Israel. Netanyahoo clearly stated he does not need our help and if they do.. they will ask. Every country around Israel has a Nuke.. whats your point? We created many enemies, Paul would make friends. Stop posting lies that we are against God when God is the one showing me the light.

I believe in Jesus Christ. I have always studied my Bible. I support Paul’s candidacy. I will support any candidate that advocates for private property, limited Government, equal Justice, personal liberties, individual responsibility, national independence, free markets, and my God given right to defend myself. I desire to restore our Constitutional Republic, and to preserve and guard our heritage and institutions. Paul’s record is the most consistent to the Law of the Land (the US Constitution) and the intent of the founding fathers. He does not hate Israel, respects her sovereignty and independence. He puts America first, and no other Nation above his Constitutional oath. If anyone has allegiance to another Nation on this earth, I suggest they move there. As for me, I have God and his Word. I’m an American patriot, I’ll stay here, and we will always govern ourselves.

Israel doesn’t want our military or Government interfering with their National or international affairs. They only wants us to diplomatically support them, to accept their independence, to acknowledge their sovereignty, and to get out of their way. You’re not “holier” than us because we don’t want to worship the State of Israel and put Israel above our own Nation. I work in a Jewish restaurant and have Jewish coworkers who have dual citizenship with the US and Israel, were soldiers in Israel’s army, and have actually fought alongside Israel as citizens of Israel. They’re the real Israeli patriots. They always tell me they can take care of themselves, with us or without us. In fact, they take pride in their Nation’s independence. That last thing they want is for another Nation to tell them what to do, and how to do it.

America is not the Ruler and Judge of the world. And we’re not the God of Israel. God alone will protect and defend Israel. I trust God to save Israel, as he has proclaimed.

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. THEN SHALL THE LORD GO FORTH, AND FIGHT AGAINST THOSE NATIONS, AS WHEN HE FOUGHT IN THE DAY OF BATTLE. AND HIS FEET SHALL STAND IN THAT DAY upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison: Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth. Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna: Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession. O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: That men may know that THOU, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, ART THE MOST HIGH OVER ALL THE EARTH. Psalm 83

      @TXJB,

You sir are the radical “religious right” (aka, neocon) that has been pushing us towards war and violence for at least a century now. It is the religious kooks in this nation that force upon us federal welfare programs and are easily provoked into wars of aggression. Why do you think that the catholic church and the vatican are pushing for a one world gov’t and monetary system? Do you really think that people like you can accept or let everyone else in this world live in as free a way as they possibly can while still protecting everyone’s rights with the force of law? I don’t think you can. I think people like you are as bad as the terrorists. And that isn’t a joke or exaggeration on how I feel. The past is littered with accounts of war and murder committed in the name of your God by people not unlike yourself and of other groups with their own deity.

I happen to believe in God. I cannot help but think that some divine power is at work when I realize that from atomic elements comes self replicating and sentient life. That is a miracle for sure. But you crazy bible thumpers have to go and ruin the idea of God by turning everything into a powder keg of violence.

I love what Paul has to say, but he reminds me of the very same dope smokers I used to hang with and be one of. He is just the flip side of the same, a dreamer, and an introverted one at that. His failure to truly assess the disposition of our nation and our position in the world would cause us to fall into utter despair. Before any of his ideas could actually bare fruit, rebels would rise and a dictator would take over. Then, it would be you Paulians crying the same old song and dance you do now, if only we could have it the way you see fit. Just as the groupies following Lennon. calling for world peace. Sorry folks, it is the truth. Just as communism would work great if the conditions were perfect and were only robots and nobody was lazy or over zealous. Just the flip side of that is what you want. It can’t work, especially , at this point in time. Sorry, that is reality.
We need to keep our nation as powerful and economically viable as possible. The world is falling apart at the seams right now, yes, bring many of our boys home, but this problem with the Feds isn’t one that is unique to the United States, this is one of the entire world economy. If you think for one second, that the US taking the stand that Paul is speaking of won’t result in us being severely raped and looted by all the envious nations of the world, then you are gravely mistaken and underestimating the wickedness of man. Romney has no motive, he has served 28 years in various positions without pay

      Re: drugs, porn, prostitution
The Republican National Committee pulled a dirty trick on Paul. According to the Times, Paul was running for Congress against fellow Republican Greg Laughlin, whom he eventually defeated in a runoff. During the campaign, an Austin marketing company called people and asked respondents who favored Paul if they would still support him knowing that he was in favor of legalizing drugs, pornography and prostitution. The real truth, the Times noted, was this: “Dr. Paul said he only favored repeal of Federal laws on drugs, pornography and prostitution, leaving states to prohibit them.”

      @Rational Man,

“Funny you should say that since common sense is the one thing that Paul lacks the most. I can give him credit for some other good qualities, (like economics), but never common sense.”

Funny YOU should say THAT, since the economics you credit him for is not Math- or Science-based, but rather Philosophy-based. That is, the laws of logic are applied to axioms of trade (people own their own body; people own what they produce; people trade something they value less than that which is offered to them in trade, etc.), and what is ultimately inferred is what we see in Austrian Economics.

This man has a sound epistemology, which is the REASON he understands economics.

… As opposed to Keynesians, of course.

      See here.

Keynesian Predictions vs. American History | Thomas E. Woods, Jr.
      http ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XbG6aIUlog

So, he has plenty of common sense.

“His foreign policy proves that by itself.”

His foreign policy is that of our Founders, as well as of the Old Republican Party.

      See here.

So, the Constitution has no common sense. Hmmm you know, you really CAN substitute ‘Ron Paul” with Constitution. After all, that’s what he is TRYING to get us BACK to. EVERYTHING he says is sound Constitutionally. Someone that says his policies are ‘crazy’ show me where in the Constitution it’s allowed or forbidden. It (the Constitution) is the rules that our government must go by. They have subverted and usurped more power than we the people ever granted them. So if Ron Paul is crazy then the Constitution is crazy.

Paul has been a Republican for like 50 years. How many years does it take for you to consider him a Republican? Paul is a libertarian-conservative, which is what Barry Goldwater was. It was Goldwater’s platform that Reagan ran on.

Whether you agree with Paul on everything or not, to me the question is whether we want to move towards less government or continue by voting in the same ‘ol status quo, which has been growing government steadily for many years.

Paul isn‘t going to be able to get government back down to where he’d like it to be; a limited government constitutional republic. But, he darn sure can move us in that direction. That sounds good to me. Everyone else will have to decide for themselves which they choose. Less government or more government.

One must believe, at least in large part, in the platform of a party before actually being called a member of it. Just because he‘s attempting to deceive Republicans into supporting him doesn’t make him a Republican. This guy doesn’t believe most of the platform and should be running against Gary Johnson for the Libertarian Party endorsement. That would be the honest thing for him to do.

@Luv and Colt: I posted about this example in a different thread about Romney’s son. I don’t think Mitt is a racist because of comments his son may have made that are considered “birther”. These emotional false arguments only serve to draw the focus from the real issues that highlight the vast differences in candidates. Arguments of guilt by association only work if there is a pattern of evidence to support them. The repetition of truther, birther, racist, anti-Semite, or homophobe are the accusations of the weak-minded and the intellectually bankrupt. These practices are the basis of “the big lie” manipulation used by the National Socialists in Germany.

For you to claim he did not write it is absolutely clueless. Here is a link to an interview in which he finally fesses up to the fact that he wrote some of the articles: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/paul-admits-to-writing-a-certain-portion-of-controversial-newsletters-after-challenged-by-radio-caller/.

@Colt1860 – You are correct, in that Dr. Paul said he only wrote portions of the newsletters. Of course he did not admit to the controversial portions. That would be political suicide. Remember, he is a politician. Politicians are notorious for bending the truth in order to appeal to certain segments of the voter population. Do you honestly think he would admit writing articles that were inflammatory towards blacks and homosexuals? Especially as a presidential candidate? Again I ask, if Ron Paul, as the publisher of the newsletters, published content that was racially prejudiced, he is responsible for the content whether or not he actually wrote the articles. By default, if he published it, he agreed with it. Either that or he was incompetent and had no idea what he published.
Sorry, I am not able to provide you any further accounting of Dr. Paul’s comments towards blacks and/or gays. However, just because nothing else was written or stated after the newsletters has absolutely no bearing on whether or not he published and/or wrote the articles in question. I would be pleased to find out that no other prejudicial comments were made from him or published by him. Perhaps that would indicate he realized his wrongs, and turned over a new leaf. My beef is that people like yourself are perfectly willing to overlook and excuse the possibility of his participation in publishing racial and homophobic material when the evidence certainly points to the fact that he did so.

To me a vote for Obama, Gingrich, Romney, et al is just a wasted vote. I want my vote to count for something. I want it to count for my belief in this country and it’s Constitution. The only one that believes our country is great because of it’s Constitution and strict adherence to it is Ron Paul. I’m not voting for Ron Paul because I agree with his personal opinion 100% of the time. I vote for Ron Paul because he recognizes the devine providence and brilliance of our Constitution and the wisdom of the people who wrote it. Ron Paul substitutes the Constitutions wisdom for our country instead of his own. It’s really that simple.

I only care about two things: Will they honor the Constitution 100% and do they have a record we can see of honoring the Constitution over a very long time period? Ron Paul is the only one running in the last 20 years that I can say 100% yes.

They have to earn our votes, our votes do not belong to the GOP by default, so clearly we cannot be “split”, since we don’t belong in the first place *by default*. The entire point of the Tea Party was NOT to be a shill group for the GOP (or Dems) and instead be the embodyment of the freedom loving spirit of America. Want our votes? Then earn them. So what happens if Ron doesn’t get the Republican nomination (even though he really isn’t a republican) and all the Ron supporters write his name in . . .

(I cut your quote off, since you assume too much)

Ron Paul gets elected as a Write-In.

@JL and QP: For the sake of argument let’s say Dr. Paul receives the nomination. Since that would mean the Republican party has been hijacked by the Paulieitbotastiniansts, and is no longer in agreement with your values, would you vote third party for Trump or Palin, or write them in? Are your core convictions for a person, a party or your principles and the future?

Anything that throws a monkey wrench into the machine with regards to the republican nomination process, is stupendous news in my opinion. Trouble makers are most welcome. Simply laying down early and allowing the RINO’s to commandeer the ship, while probably inevitable, isn’t the best option. Well, maybe the best option is absolutely a non-RINO nominee, but taking the fight to the establishment comes in a distant second in this process.

Write Sarah Palin in in Iowa. then let New Hampshire vote Mitt
South Carolina votes Newt. Florida votes Sarah again .Nevada goes
Newt or Mitt. Virginia goes Ron Paul since only 2 on the ballot.
Super Tuesday spread between them NO CLEAR FRONT RUNNER.

We go to the Convention with no one having enough votes on 1st ballot
We go to a Brokered Convention. an come out with a team.

      Sarah Palin President
      Mitt Romney Vice President
Newt Ginrich Sec. of State ( or my 1st choice John Bolton )
      Ron Paul Sec of Treasury
      Allen West Sec of Defense
Donald Trump Sec of the 5 depts. Ron Paul wants to get rid of YOU’RE FIRED
      Then Sec of Commerce
Rick Perry goes back to being Gov. of Texas (GOD bless Texas )
Rick Santorum Cab. Post not sure which
Michele Bachman Speaker of the House with a much larger TEA Majority
      No more cry babies.

Let’s See Obama Run against that team !

But it would definitely throw a monkey wrench in the
      Washington DC Republican Establishment Machine.

      @Gunner

I recall hearing that from the 1970′s. “Sure, this guy sucks, but the other guy suckers harder, vote for the guy that sucks to keep the suckier guy out, then we can go from there”.

And boy brother, have we ever gone from. From frying pan right into the fire.

The trap being set needs to be avoided. Electing a progressive with an R in front of his name means voting for Obama, even if not in name. That simple.

Offer somebody worth voting for, or the GOP doesn’t get the vote. They don’t own us or our votes.

      Ming,
Why did Paul switch from the Libertarian ticket to the Republican ticket in ’96 (I voted for him in ’88 as a libertarian)? He realized like it or not, we have a two party system.
IF you believe that there is no difference between Obama and the others, then so be it, but the difference is as big as Left wing anti-imperialism and right-wing anti-imperialism. I will set aside my personal preferences and like Paul switching to the Republican ticket learn to work with the system and the materials I have availible to me.

No corporation forced these people to buy Clarkson’s album, geez.

We are not a democracy, but Clarkson just banked some money due to an entirely democratic process.

Besides, isn’t a boycott the inverse application of this principle? Ron Paul looks like Obama because of a perceived incentive to prosper off of political views, but the Occupy Movement DOESN’T look like Obama when they DISincentivize support for their causes?

That is clearly a double standard.

If Ms. Clarkson had indorsed [your candidate of choice] would you then not support them because fame has been added to the equation?

The problem is that the Republican and Democratic Parties have moved so far out of mainstream America they don’t know what it looks like anymore. They are trying to get everyone to think like their party instead of the party representing how the people think. Ron Paul is the only candidate that is real and has integrity.
If Ron Paul wins in the primary and is not nominated, the Republican Party is worthless and will fade away. Ron Paul will get votes for president even if other Republicans want to deny it and fight it. Ron Paul deniers will be the ones who hand the election to Obama again.
Ron Paul is right. Our government needs to quit telling people here at home and around the world how to live. If we keep poking a stick in the eye, people get pissed off. I am an army infantryman and I know what its like on the ground in the Middle East. I don‘t like my freedom and liberty trampled on here at home and I sure as hell wouldn’t like it if another country started telling us what to do or not to do. Of course they are going to get pissed off. When Obama and DHS put out the so called report that returning combat vets were the greatest home-grown terrorist threat, that made many of us made as hell. Its designed to piss off the adversary and get them to do something provocative so you have an excuse to retaliate. Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” at work on the home front and the international venue.
Ron Paul is not an isolationist, he is a noninterventionist. We don’t need

In case someone doesn’t know what Det is talking about:
      http://www.constitution.org/abus/le/miac-strategic-report.pdf

This is the real deal. People here on the Blaze should realize the truth about any government or it’s agencies. If not held in check it will grow out of control and when it attains sufficient power it’s focus turns from service to self preservation. It becomes addicted to it‘s own power and as it grows in size it must continually justify it’s existence by creating new programs and new enemies.

The link above lists returning vets, “survivalists” and Ron Paul supporters as potential threats. Who will be next? Maybe Glenn Beck listeners, Sarah Palin supporters, people who drive pick-up trucks with a camper shell, or Sam’s Club shoppers. When your only tool is a hammer all problems become nails.
