Gregg “Opie” Hughes (one half of the popular radio team of Opie & Anthony) visited the Occupy Wall Street protest in lower Manhattan earlier this week and expected to find something he could support, instead he was driven out of the area by a gang of protesters using the classic tactics of Saul Alinsky.

An an exclusive interview with The Blaze, Opie makes no bones about being slightly more liberal than his outspoken, conservative, radio partner Anthony Cumia. On Tuesday, he spent almost three hours in Zucotti Park, shooting videos for his “Opie’s Eye” YouTube channel. He stated to us and repeated it several times on the radio that he believed he would find common ground with the protesters. However, he left the park calling them “filthy hippies.”

The Sirius XM host regularly posts videos of the unusual people he sees in New York City, and the park filled with protesters appeared to be ripe with possibilities. The video posted below features a few of the colorful characters Opie encountered: (Content warning – strong language)

At the very end of the clip you may have noticed two women reacting to being recorded. Opie told us that he stopped recording at that moment, but the confrontation continued and, in fact, escalated.

Here is how that clash was described on the Opie and Anthony radio show the next morning: (Again – strong content warning – this is uncensored audio from satellite radio)

As you heard, Opie was confronted and surrounded by more than two dozen of the protesters, chanting “Pervert, pervert, pervert!“ This is classic ”Alinsky” – In fact, it is right out of  Alinsky’s book “Rules for Radicals” – he taught his followers to:

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

Once the target is identified, you freeze it with an accusation so heinous that it must be defended or refuted before anything else can be addressed. The quickest way to run off a nosy photographer is to accuse him of being a pervert. If two dozen or more people start chanting it, the mob mentality can easily take over and trump the truth. Classic Alinsky.

This is just another piece of evidence pointing to the fact that the “Occupy” protests are not spontaneous (as is constantly being trumpeted by supporters on the Left), but rather a manufactured, planned action with paid, trained leaders embedded inside.

Last weekend The Blaze reported on a connection between the White House and organizers from a far Left political group, the Working Families Party, as well as WFP’s recruitment, training and paying of the protesters. Chicago’s protesters have recently been joined in their marches by Congressional Rep Jan Schakowsky and SEIU’s Stephen Lerner. And more legitimizing of the action came this week as former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore have made separate, public declarations of support for the Occupy Wall Street movement.

With embedded leaders now in place inside the group, and public support coming from a former President who has a higher approval rating than the current one, it would be wise for everyone who did not take this movement seriously to give it another look.

What was pitched to the country as a spontaneous protest against Wall Street and the financial system, one that would spread across the country, has been shown here on The Blaze to be a well-planned action with trained and paid organizers inside the group. Occupy Wall Street ties to groups like the Working Families Party, Code Pink, unions like SEIU, and of course the deep pockets of George Soros have also been exposed. And now we see the tried-and-true tactics of Saul Alinsky being used to drive away anyone who might be deemed unsupportive of the mission.

    Once again, the vulnerable are the tools of the likes of George Soros, Van Jones, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. Poor dumb tools. They should be working – even if it’s just pulling weeds or picking up trash somewhere. At least it would be constructive. And they hate the Tea Party.       Hilarious, saying that a pervert accusation is an attempt to “freeze” the Opie threat is laughable. Please stop trying to interject this type of conspiracy mongering. Just because they became hostile to a dude with a camera doesn’t mean that the protest is the marionnette of some vast liberal conspiracy.

      Also, I don’t think Opie would be welcomed much more at a Tea Party rally.

      In the last 150+ years we have learned to fly, put a man on the moon, discovered and decoded our DNA, split the atom, invented the car, the airplane, radio, TV, telephone, the computer and the internet, to name just a few.

      But in that time, since the publication of the “The Communist Manifesto” in 1848, we have been unable to figure out how to make Marxist Socialism work for “the masses”. Just take a look at Russia, Poland, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, the National Socialist in Germany, better known as the Nazis or China.

      But, that does not stop the really, really smart people from trying to impose it on us. There is a never ending supply of the intelligentsia who know exactly how we should live and how the world should be ordered. The only reason that Marxist Socialism failed elsewhere is because they were not in charge. This time, when they are making the decisions, it will be perfect. As soon as we quiet and re-educate the dissenters, monitor the media, confiscate and redistribute the wealth, jail the bankers and make all necessities free. Of course none of the new rules apply to the intelligentsia because they are the intelligentsia and they now have all the guns.

    Reminds me of the 60′s…where other than sex, drugs, rock n’ roll, the movement did very little other than to create a baby boom which is stifling our resources these days. They all think they changed the course of the world, but in truth, nothing happened that would not have happened anyway.

    I take that back, I think some things did change because of them. But it was more of a “let’s throw them a bone here and there to get them to go away.”

    Other than that, all the movement did was to create corruption and evil in our country. Kent State, Black Panthers, assassinations, spying on US citizens, infiltration & entrapment by goverment agencies…these all came about to stop, control, manipulate the “hippies”…and would not have existed otherwise. I’m glad to see that (in most cases) they are being simply ignored this time. Of course, them having zero clues as to why they are there and zero realistic ideas on how to correct the problems they perceive is a big help.

    I can’t afford satellite radio so, I don’t know who these people are. It is funny though. Who would think that a protester had an original thought. They may have a complaint but it appears it is backfiring on them. This is not the 60s and most of us demonstrated back then against the war.     The OWS protesters do not have a coherent message, but it seems that they want to destroy capitalism. Well, the 9/11 terrorists tried to do the same thing by slamming passenger planes full of innocent people into the world trade center. They managed to destroy the world trade center and killed thousands of innocent lives. This propelled us into 2 very expensive wars. Capitalism not only survived this but it thrived. Our economy grew and Capitalism thrived under 7 of 8 years that George W. Bush was in office. Russia and China have risen from the dark ages of communism since they embraced Capitalism. Look at South Korea compared to North Korea. You cannot destroy Capitalism with protests, acts of war, legislation or any other means because Capitalism is Freedom. Freedom to succeed, freedom to fail, freedom to work as hard or as little as you want. It is Freedom to use your imagination. It is the freedom to work for others or start your own business. You cannot end Freedom.

A socialist/capitalisthbybrid state is the most equitable,just and beneficial to the citizens. No one wants a soviet style economy. But having to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a higher education is obsence. So is not having a job or guaranteed income. So is telling people they should increase the years they work.So is throwing people out of their homes especially when banks got bailed out. Life should get easier not harder in a technologicaly advanced society.

      Capitalism works because of human nature, we all want better products and services for less money. Under the Obama, Pelosi ideology Politicians decide which companies should be in business (Solyndra, GM etc) regardless of whether or not they are providing products and services the public wants. That is the difference, in a Free Market economy WE THE PEOPLE decide which companies stay in business by choosing to buy or not buy their products and services. Under Socialism POLITICIANS decide which products and services will be made available. Under Socialism POLITICIANS decide how YOUR money is spent. Under Capitalism THE PEOPLE decide how their money is spent. Do you want to be truly FREE (as in a FREE MARKET ECONOMY) to decide or do you want the Government to decide for you? This is the fundamental question. Capitalism works because it is based on FREEDOM of CHOICE. I thought Liberals were pro “CHOICE” ?????

    Beck recommended that you don’t respond to or confront those using the Alinsky method on his radio program. THAT IS WRONG! What are you suppose to do? Run away? That is why they do it. You don’t respond to the false charge, but rather hurl your own false charge (or truth depending on the situation).

    You then shout that response in a chant. It neutralizes their accusation, while at the same time, deters the premise and disrupts their continuity. Yes, these troglodytes will might assault you, however, self defense is legal. And it is not like she is going to hurt anyone. The reason Alinsky (who used Hitler’s blueprint) has been so effective is because people usually cower in fear and perpetuate the method of destruction. This is actually in the book, “The RISE and Fall of the Third Reich”, and was a common tactic of the nazi party.

    I guess I was taught of Alynsky tactics in college and didn’t know it, only it was presented as wrong. I was taught in Mass Communications, that people will do things in a mob that they wouldn’t do normally. They get caught up in the “moment.” The example I remember (mind you this was in 1982) was a rock concert that turns violent.

      Opie and Anthony are shock humor radio jocks. I have never listened to them as they aren’t to my tatse but I imagine that they could be somewhat analogous to South Park or Howard Stern.

      Why is this important? The cultural leaders for many in our culture lie within the entertainment and comedy world. If a movement starts to be mocked in these quarters it can have a huge impact on the less informed (who still vote). If Opie opens his eyes to the reality of these fools it may encourage other leftish comedians to mock them as well. If it becomes a running gag then it could seriously undermine the image of OWS, which is nothing without its propaganda power.

      O and A are shock jocks, but over the years have mellowed out ala Stern,etc. Anthony is a gun collector and hard core conservative and Opie is more of a lefty, but argues both sides. They are anything, but political commentators!! Jim Norton (comedian) is the third leg of their show. They say extremely offensive things, but some are funny if you can get by the language.
