Six-Hour Gun Battle: Taliban Attack on British Council in Kabul Leaves Nine Dead

At least eight Afghan police and one foreigner are believed to have been killed after the Taliban marked the anniversary of Afghanistan‘s independence from Britain with an elaborate, multi-phased attack on the British Council building in Kabul.
The assault on the compound in the west of the city began when a suicide car bomber detonated a vehicle at the front gate of the compound.
Witnesses in nearby shops said several heavily armed insurgents then rushed out of a side street shouting, firing in the air and racing towards to the open gate. Afghan officials believed the number of attackers was between two and four.
All British nationals affected by the attack on the British Council in Kabul are now safe, said the Foreign Office minister Alistair Burt.

Everytime they question them it is all about deceit and lies and betrayal. Anyway the Rangers are out everynight running them down and bringing them to justice. It upsets me that they have to be there but no one can tell us why. Pray for our Warriors, they are doing their job the best they can.

Heavily armed? What does that mean,? machine guns,RPG’s. . Were they hiding these weapons under their frocks? Under their tablecloths?
No police or military patrolling around foreign council buildings in Afghanistan,especially in Kabul?
Especially the Brits? One would think there would be some Brit troops on patrol around these kinds of buildings 25/8.

There are more radical Moslems willing/wanting to get/ killed (72 Celestial nympho virgins ya know) trying to kill Nato’s troops.officials than all of the Nato’s countries citizens combined.

Posted on August 19, 2011 at 7:37amAs a member of America’s military, and a 3 time Afghan deployment vet, I’d say “let ‘em duke it out themselves”! those people have been fighting for thousands of years and wear are just the latest excuse to hurt eachother. They hate each other for many different reasons and that hate means they are always willing to take any percieved offense into the battle ground. I’ve spent almost 31/2 years away from my family trying to help those people and they don’t want my help and never really did past the effort need to get them in a position of dominace over their opponent. I say leave now on the redeye flight back to the US!
