Six-Year-Old Girl Discovers Dead Parents’ Bodies in Possible Double Murder-Suicide

A neighbor says a 6-year-old girl found the bodies of her parents and live-in baby sitter dead in their home when she returned from school.

The three were discovered Thursday in the Twin Cities suburb of Oakdale. Police say the deaths are being investigated as a double murder-suicide. The couple’s pastor told 5 Eyewitness News that he had been counseling the parents as recently as Tuesday:

Teenage neighbor Brady Hartman tells the Star Tribune the girl came home from school and found the bodies. He says she ran out of her house sobbing and screaming, “Mommy, daddy dead! Mommy, daddy dead!”

Hartman’s mother consoled the girl and called 911.

Police haven’t confirmed the child found the bodies but said the discovery was made by a relative.

They’ve identified the victims as 32-year-old Jaime Velasquez and 28-year-old Cintia Guadalupe Ornelas Bustos and their 43-year-old baby sitter Angela Uscanga Gonzalez.

The Associated Press contributed to this article.

To STEEV: you wrote: I feel sympathy for her plight, but i also realize that death is important a part of life as life itself is and if she approaches this with that in mind she’ll be better off in the long run.

For the love of almighty God, are you out of your cotton pickin’ mind???? This is a six year old child you are talking about…..are you saying she needs to adopt a “suck it up, buttercup” attitude?

    Get a grip!

Live in babysitter, and the kid comes home by herself? At the tender age of six?? Something is terribly wrong here. My prayers are with the little one.

Perhaps the babysitter did not pick her up because she was dead?

They are Hispanic…she wanted to leave…he said “if I can’t have her, noone can”….he shot her, then the babysitter who came to her defense, then himself. This is a very common occurrence where I live in south Tx. Always very sad.

Frequently i am a bit on the cold side, it’s not due to a lack of compassion – it’s because pragmatism often demands an impartiality. I feel for her – i feel sympathy for her plight, but i also realize that death is important a part of life as life itself is and if she approaches this with that in mind she’ll be better off in the long run. I admit though, i can’t figure why they took the babysitter with them unless there was a crime of passion involved in this !

I know a child who walked in and found her mother dead (of natural causes). She’s now grown and still has continual emotional issues, even though she has had the best help available. So sad.

How horrible for the children. Why would the man feel he would have to kill the babysitter too, I wonder? Now she has 3 children that won’t have a Mother.

Lord have mercy on all these children.

Allegorically, the Inferno represents the Christian soul seeing sin for what it really is, and the three beasts represent three types of sin: the self-indulgent, the violent, and the malicious.

War in the Middle east is also violence .
