Skier’s Incredible Mountain Fall Caught on Helmet Cam

Stefan Ager is an Austrian skier who likes the rush of back-mountain skiing. It seems only appropriate, then, that he would be the one to capture his own shocking, out-of-control tumble down one such mountain during a recent ski trip. The footage is incredible. Even more so? Ager is alright (the slip comes at about 0:50):

The Daily Mail explains:

The 15-second fall, down the almost vertical, rocky incline, was all captured on his helmet cam.

When he eventually landed , he let out an audible gasp of pain before looking up at the route he had just fallen down.

Incredibly, despite spinning out of control for much of his fall, he somehow managed to avoid being dashed on any of the larger rocky outposts – and landed safely in a snowdrift at the bottom of the mountain.

Mr Ager has become a global internet hit following his astonishing escape and he said he is thankful he is still in one piece.

He said: ‘I am sooooo lucky!’

or, Why did god not stop him from falling.
If god is watching why does he not stop all the wars , hunger , murders , and priest from raping.

While I undertand adventure, adrenaline, a sense of “I did it FIRST.” (truth be told few people do it FIRST they just repeat what someone else already did) – some of these adventures seem more like a death wish by people who don’t have priorities in order as opposed to expolorers looking for food or a way to safety . Living versus trying to prove you‘re invulnerable when you aren’t….maybe some of their brains aren’t grown up yet or are wired a different way. The rush! oooo, eeee, wooooowhoo. Some loved ones may forgive them for dying – others won’t. Some will be furious that THEIR loved ones have to risk THEIR lives rescuing others. And once the Rush is experienced the person will never be able to top it and will keep trying until his/her luck runs out.

Ah, well. It is what it is.

Just a fyi for the author/reader: it’s “back-country” skiing, as apposed to “back-mountain.” I’ve witnessed a similar fall, where my friend just as Stefan here appeared to ‘float’ over all the right places ie. exposed rock and land only on sporadic snow. EPIC shot, glad he’s alright

I’ve done a lot of back country skiing, this was not a good choice of a starting point. Too much of a risk, clearly. I’ve seen many people chose to start in very stupid places where one wrong move could mean disaster. Its just not worth the risk to start in places like this. We all can chose our own risk, but in my opinion, this was reckless and stupid.

he had no business attempting to put his skis on while standing on that type of incline of almost 90 %

If God had a hand in his survival, would it not also be true that God would be responsible had he died? Did God push him off the cliff so he could be saved? If God was watching out for him, why did he not keep him from falling to start with. People survive and die in accidents everyday. Is God making arbitrary choices? Is God playing with lives? Are some lives worth more than others? I think it not so simple as it claimed. There is a greater understanding.

If God watches over fools and drunks, then He may have been watching. Then again, “stupid” is preent in almost every walk of life, and “stupid” may be leaning in a more demnic direction. Passing on those genes to a new generation of stupid is likely why we are in the position we are in at the present time. Just read all of the lead articles on the Blaze and it becomes that “Stupid Rules” throughout the land – from banning ten rules of behavior in Virginia schools to all the other “stuff” being reported only on this site.
