Slain Border Agent’s Family Gives Napolitano a Tongue Lashing: ‘Empty Words’

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano may have spoke at the funeral of slain border patrol agent Brian Terry, but her family is far from happy, honored, or impressed. According to news reports, some family members exchanged words with Napolitano over the administration’s position on border security.

“‘I said you gotta wake your man up in the White House,’” Brian’s father Kent Terry told Arizona’s KGUN-TV. “And she said, ‘He’s done more in the last two years than any other president.’”

That wasn’t good enough for Kent and other members of the family. “She spoke with us and they were empty words today when she spoke,” said step-mom Carolyn Terry.

When the reporter asked “Why?” the family let loose:

“They had no meaning to them.”

“She’ll have Christmas.”

“She’ll forget about it tomorrow.”

KGUN and reporter Joel Waldman confronted Napolitano about the family’s accusations. She responded by characterizing them as the media trying pick a fight:

“They said the words you said to them yesterday in their opinion were hollow words…. What can you do to ensure that the border will be more secure?”

Napolitano answered, “Listen , I don’t know who you spoke with –”

Waldman clarified: “I spoke with the mother and the stepmother and the father.”

Napolitano continued, “Listen, we are here today, the commissioner is here and the chief and this is not a time for the media to pick a fight. It’s time to remember a fallen agent.”

    We spend millions on a military to be in places where they are no longer needed (like Germany). They can be set up along the whole border for 1/10 the cost of keeping them over there.
    Janet No-Plan-to-go-to was at this man’s funeral so she would look good politically and because she was told to be there, nothing more. For her the funeral was a minor inconvenience.

      Maybe when we stop believing the government owes us handouts or entitlements?
      Maybe when we educate ourselves on the founding principles, and live by them?
      Maybe when we decide to make a personal commitment to self-reliance?
      Maybe when we start parenting instead of relying on Liberal teacher unions to indoctrinate our children?
      Maybe when we find the courage to take a stand on principle rather than self-interest.
      Maybe when we humble ourselves and get on our knees for God?

      Look, we are all preaching to the choir on this page. Do you think the unions , minorities, left/right coast libs, University professors or the elite/democrat/socialists ‘waste their time’ reading this blog? Short of Revolution, we have one option…vote Conservative and make sure all your friends do also ! The mid-term got the ball rolling, but judging by the Lame Duck session, there are a lot of politicians in both parties who still don’t get it. Start taking names! It’s our job to retire those individuals in 2012. Never vote for a Socialist/Democrat or a Republican/RINO. An educated and principled electorate is the answer. I am ashamed that Napolitano was Governor of my State, but found it fitting somehow when she was invited to join this administration. Let’s all take a moment to say a prayer for Brian Terry and his family.

    It is time for action.

    No agent should have fallen, because BOTH democrats and republicans have failed to deliver on their promises.

    Where is the fence? Where is the support for these border agents?

    We have areas in the US that are “off limits” to Americans because they are controlled by Mexican drug lords.

    We have groups providing support and sanctuary to these law breakers…because to them, a “better life” for mexicans is more important than the American lives it costs. How many people would be alive today just over the past 10 years who died because of a drunk illegal immigration?

    The number should be ZERO!

    I am a legal immigrant. I came to this great nation and respect it. I follow its laws. I paid the cost to become American, and I weep at the life of every lost American who died because of an illegal, be it from DUI, violence, or any other aspect.

    Drop a few military bases on the border. Start defending this great nation. Or collectively, have my name as a write in for the next election and I will bring change you CAN believe in…not the empty promises of the current guy in office.

      I think it would be a great idea to get willing hunters together and arrange mass “guided hunting tours” where hunters are broken down into squad-sized units with radios and a local experienced guide (perhaps ex-military) and regular “tours” (patrols) are organized along the border.

      They might *just happen* to come across illegal border jumpers and drug smugglers. Good thing they’d have their “hunting” guns and radios handy.

      Why wait for a government to protect you when it‘s been made clear the government isn’t interested in protecting you & your families? A large portion of the problematic border areas are on private land, so as long as the “hunters” had the landowner’s permission to be on his private land, what can the government do? Outlaw guns & hunting in border states? Like to see ‘em try that in Texas! LOL! That would be WW3 with the government seriously out-fire-powered. The Texas NG units would likely side with the people in such an event.

      That would likely be the only reason the government would send troops to the border. Unfortunately, those troops would likely be ordered to attack the US citizens that had the nerve to protect themselves, not the violent gun-toting illegals/drug smugglers killing US citizens. The Spice…err, I mean the drugs, slave labor, illegal (D) voters, & money…must flow!**

      They have no intention of securing our borders because it means more voters for the democrats. It even goes deeper than that by having the border exposed it causes chaos and that is what they want as part of their agenda to destroy our country. By filling the welfare rolls, and emergency rooms, and over crowding of our prisons with these illegals it gives government excuses to spend money in other ways using these problems as cover for money they are funneling elsewhere, it is very deceitful and treasonous what they are doing. I feel really bad for those border agents who are killed trying to do their jobs because it is almost in vain when their Government will not back them up and do what it takes to make their jobs safer and easier.

      Agreed ‘cousin Nancy’ doesnt care nor does the boy king about this poor guy & his family. Its a photo and PR op if anything for them. She needs to be removed from power along with Stedman. If the border issue was such an important issue with this radical admin it would be locked down. They are feeling us up in airports and borderline/ on the verge of strip searches to get on a plane yet leave the border wide open that a bunch of illegals on mules could drag the USS R. Reagan through!

They are already targeting border state gun dealers etc claiming that the semi auto rifles sold in the US go to Mexico and miraculously become full auto used in the Mexican drug war!!!!

Their self created image of a powerful loving father like administration is full of crap, and holes. That family is right in their views on what the administration really thinks. If they did care they would shut down the border and help the states that understand the problems going on instead of suing them and dragging good Governors and police chiefs names through the mud.

      My Christmas wish…

      First, we complete building the damn fence along the ENTIRE southern border. And for those of you that will counter with “where’s the money going to come from?”, I have an easy answer.
      Close all the military bases aorund the world with a just a few exceptions, and bring home our military from Afghanistan. Use some of the savings to build 10 small bases stretched out along the southern border, and allow the military to patrol the border.

      What a double tragedy for this family to have this unemotional hag use their son’s funeral as a political soapbox, and then have the nerve to tell this grieving family that the “US is doing everything they can to make the borders safer”. Does that mean the Feds will be putting up more signs warning American citizens that the borders are dangerous and to stay away.
