Slideshow: Blaze Writers Show You Their Pictures From Today’s Occupy March
Early Thursday morning, Buck Sexton and I traveled to different points in lower Manhattan where we followed the efforts of the Occupy Wall Street protesters to block the opening of the New York Stock Exchange. The plan was not a secret and the NYPD was on the scene in substantial numbers.
Early reports say that 50 protesters were arrested and taken away in the flexible, plastic handcuffs carried by every officer.
In the moments when the group was not chanting “We Are The 99%“ or ”Wall Street Is Our Street“ I was given some specific instructions on what to do if I found myself arrested and hauled off to One Police Plaza and locked up in ”the tombs.” A man sporting the neon green hat from the free legal aid group told me the average detention lasts 15-20 hours and suggested that I avoid the milk and bologna being served in the holding tank at all costs. However, the peanut butter or cheese sandwiches should be suitable replacements. Good to know.
Here’s what we saw down at the march:
We will be monitoring this afternoon’s anticipated attempt to shut down the subway system as well.
Stay tuned.
All photos from Buck Sexton and Mike Opelka.

Further more the people who could afford homes wouldn’t have upgraded from the previous homes and now be in upside down mortgages. The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT created the problem. Even less noticeable is the lack of people asking why exactly did the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT bail out these institution so quickly. The answer was to keep the big mortgage firms from using their influences and capital to show AMERICANS THE LEGISLATION THAT CREATED THIS DISASTER thus informing everyone on whose responsible.

Posted on November 17, 2011 at 7:15pm@mitchemm – Most of us believe that the banks should not have been bailed out – BY THE GOVERNMENT and that the housing market shouldn’t have been manipulated to force loans to unqualified individuals – BY THE GOVERNMENT. However, where we apparently completely disagree is that the OWS movement really has anything to do with either of these issues. I don’t think anyone paying attention to the OWS movement really thinks that they are there protesting the failure of GOVERNMENT. All I keep hearing from them is tired old Socialist and Communist rhetoric about the evil rich and a call for more GOVERNMENT. The very GOVERNMENT allowed both of these situations to exist and affect us all so negatively. If you look back through the history of this Country most of the economic woes stem directly from the action of inaction of GOVERNMENT.
To ignore this and call for more GOVERNMENT is not only ignorant, it is very dangerous. If you want to actually increase freedom in this Country then stop calling for an end to economic freedom(capitalism) and start calling for a return to a limited government. Tear down what the Social Progressive have built over the last 100+ years and return to our Founders ideals of the Individual.

I took out student loans and am paying them back like any responsible person would. I do not expect nor want handouts. With all of the loan consolidation programs, there is no reason someone can’t pay them back it just ridiculous. I am so sick and tired of hearing about these people blaming banks when they were the ones that took out risky loans and defaulted! Posted on November 17, 2011 at 7:28pmYes, the solution is LESS Government. The more Government you have the more corruption there will be and the more repressed the people will become. America is hardly ungovernable – What America is is irrepressible. We won’t buy the Socialist and Communist rhetoric of those who would rule us like Soros. He couldn’t defeat us with his Nazi buddies in battle so now he spends Billions to try and buy the minds of our children and still he fails as he finds our just how irrepressible a Representative Republic the reveres the Individual, loves God, and rejects the ideals of SLOTH enshrined in the Socialist/Communist dogma.
Go home Bolsheviks and Progressive Socialists – you are free to protest peacefully, when you start to disrupt lawful commerce you are breaking the law. You may own most of the press in this Country but saying you are the 99% when you don’t even reach into the tweens is just sad, sad propaganda.

These people should be protesting the University system that has indoctrinated them into believing that they “HAVE” to go to college. Then those same universities raise tuition costs every year. Logic will tell you in every culture, you need “Ditch Diggers” and trade school grads. Sending every child to college has forced increased debt on millions of kids and parents, and what ends up happening to most kids after they have $100,000 debt for school loans?

It’s not a contradiction, in fact it’s the last phase of communism as outline by Karl Marx. The ‘in between’ phase of the “dictatorship of the proletariat” is where it always grinds to a halt in the real world of course, as we’re all aware. In theory, the dictatorship is supposed to be benign (ha!) and to, among other things, help mold the “moral” type communist man who thinks only of the community and never of his own needs. Once that happens the necessity of a government becomes nil, so the government dissolves, having nothing left to do. Keep in mind I’m not endorsing it, just passing information along. And yes, it is silly. Karl Marx’s grasp of human nature is only slightly worse than his grasp on micro and macro economics, which is to say, he was a clueless moron who is celebrated today by people who despise having to provide for themselves (much as he himself despised such things). :)
