Even drug smugglers know how to innovate.
Five people have been charged in an odd case involving children’s coloring book pictures and liquid narcotics. According to authorities in Cape May County, NJ, two inmates at a correctional center, a state prison inmate, and two others figured out how to turn Suboxone, a prescription drug designed to treat opioid addiction, into a paste. That orange paste was then “drawn” on coloring book pages and sent through inmate mail.
“In my 38 years of law enforcement, I’ve never seen anything like this,” Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer told the Press of Atlantic City. Authorities apparently found out when another inmate snitched.
Police are still looking for another suspect from outside the jail system.
Meanwhile, drug smugglers in Mexico are also trying to evolve their transportation methods. Now, they’re targeting American teens to transfer drugs across the border:
Foxnews.com reports:
American teenagers are being recruited by Mexican drug cartels to carry drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border, Texas law enforcement officials say.
Over the past 10 years, 476 juveniles have been caught with drugs at a port of entry in El Paso County and 302 of them were U.S. citizens, according to the El Paso County attorney’s office.
It’s a scary trend authorities are trying to stop.
“They’re being presented with this in the high schools now as a viable option for making money, ” said Border Patrol Agent David Zapp.
Authorities say cartel members, who are blamed for thousands of deaths in Mexico, will pay American teens several hundred dollars to carry a backpack full of marijuana across the border.
“They’ll tell them, ‘look you’re a juvenile, you’re not going to jail, nothing’s going to happen to you,’ ” said El Paso County Sheriff Deputy Manny Marquez.
But Marquez warns most teens don’t understand the reality and risks of helping the ruthless cartels.
“They can suffer, anywhere — from just getting beat, to death, ” Marquez said.

Posted on March 30, 2011 at 8:33pmWhat’s wrong with this ? It’s to kill withdrawal symptoms and cravings. The Prison should be doing this. I want the incarcerated to be given the opportunity to get straight and rehabilitated. Give a guy a chance already!

Posted on March 30, 2011 at 7:39pmI am a Corrections Officer (prison guard) and I work in the package room at our facility. The state allows many food and non-food items into the facility to give the inmates some feeling of normality. With that being said there is almost NO WAY to stop the introduction of drugs into the jail. Inmates get fresh fruits and vegetables in packages. What would it take to shoot some liquid into a grape or some other product like that. We do a fairly good job detouring the inmates however if you think that drawing is odd there are other things that they don’t want you to see that will blow your mind. 3/4 of the problem is inmate advocacy groups that want to make jail home away form home.

Posted on March 30, 2011 at 6:37pmCheck out this site http://www.blogdelnarco.com and use the language translation tool if you need it. I do. Go through several pages. I don’t know why anyone, an American teen, would want to get involved with that. Does anyone remember the good old days when a serial killer was shocking. Now you’ve got a groups of people who will go shoot up another group, go collect another group and cut them up (literally butcher), live, go kill police cheifs, mayors, families. Maybe they are all compteting against each other. I know I don’t want to be around anyone who decapitates other people even if it is against competing cartel members. Even though we know awful things are happening there it is a little eye opening to SEE it. They had a video on there. I don’t know if it is still there anymore. A group of men had another man naked, hanging upside down (drawn as is drawn and quartered) by his hands and feet. They castrated him alive, cut his throat and then his head off, made jokes I guess, and then dismembered him. Perhaps I shouldn’t watch such a thing but I do to smack myself in the face and tell myself there as people amongst us capable of that and probably just about anything. Mostly there are just stories of police, mayors, a group of bodies found, a gun fight. Sometimes there are stories about heads and body parts found, pictures also. The saddest thing in all of this is to realize that 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 years ago the victims and perpetrators were probably innocent little kids. Was this the future that patiently waited for them? Little boy, one day you will own a business. Little girl you will work in a factory. Little boy in 25 years you will be the victim. Ramble, ramble, Post.

Posted on March 30, 2011 at 3:57pmIt’s dangerous bro, but some people need the money. My little cousin made $2K per week for making three trips per week across this border with small loads. He mostly used the money to feed and pay medical bills for a family of 12. He got caught once on our side of the border and was arrested in Brownsville, TX. He eventually made bail, but the Cartel‘s people didn’t believe his story and thought he had just ripped them off. In fear for his life, he went into hiding. His entire family was shot execution style and their house was burned to the ground. No one has heard from the cousin now for over 2 years.

Posted on March 30, 2011 at 2:24pmWhy should anyone care if some guys in jail use drugs, at least it keeps them both off the streets. I’d let anyone who wants to bring those in jails illegal drugs openly bring them in. Of course I’d watch them later to see where they are getting them from and eventually round up as many as possible and charge them
