“With respect to science, the assumption behind CONSENSUS is that science is a source of authority. Rather, (science) is a particularly effective approach to inquiry and analysis. Skepticism is ESSENTIAL to science; consensus is FOREIGN. When in 1988 Newsweek announced that that all scientists agreed about global warming, this should have been a red flag of warning. Among other things, global warming is such a multifaceted issue that agreement on all or many aspects would be unreasonable.”

Science does not prove that polution will be devastating to the planet. God gave us the oil, coal and other resources to use to help us. We do need to use them wisely, but we are to use them. We need to use good stewardship. By studing how to do this we have cut down on polution. As time goes by we will do a better job. We don’t need the government telling us what we need to use.

He has definite selfesteem issues that he grapples with. He really should have no argument with believers, for after all, he is intelligent enough to understand that his unbelief is in itself a “belief.” It is God that he has a problem with. Posted on March 12, 2011 at 1:54pmI knew global warming was a hoax right when the liars started babblin about it in the mid 90′s.In tenth grade I did a school report on the Vikings. The Vikings founded Greenland and named it Greenland because it was green. It was an extremely warm period in Europe around 800-1200 A.D.The French wine economy was devastated because, due to the warm climate many countries were able to grow their own grapes. The northern most areas of England were growing their own grapes. The vikings lived on Greenland for 300 years. Then the “climate changed” and they began to die out due to excessive cold temperatures. The natives of the island “Inuits” were able to survive. The Vikings settlements either fled or died. The first time I saw Al Gore hold up a chart of the earths temperatures the last 2000 years about 10 years ago I new this “climate science” was a hoax.On his graph he showed the earths temperature basically flatlining until the 1700′s.Then the line spiked as evidence of man made global warming due to industrialization. He showed absolutely no jump in temperature during “the great warm between 800-1200 A.D.He did not show it because he would have had to explain why temps.were much higher then they are now.

So, as many of you say, the Progressives are the ones who are condescending. If I disagree with you folks, then I’m being elitist of condescending. And then, in the grandest of hypocrasies, you folks turn around and say that somehow the voters in Massachusetts don‘t know what’s good for themselves… that they are ignorant for voting for Markey with such consistency, and you have to teach them what they should be doing.
So Progressives are the condescending ones, yet it is you folks that are insisting the 63% of voters in Massachusetts’ 7th district are somehow not patriotic, not American enough, because they voted how they wanted to vote. People on these boards wave around the “we the people” phrase all the time–and that’s what I was mocking, because of how shallow the respect for people’s actual choice there is.

If CO2 was so harmful then why is it released by humans and plants use it to make a breathable habitat for the rest of the world. CO2 is released by Volcanoes and forest fires started by lightning, does he have a cork big enough to stop that and a shield to protect grasslands in Africa and elsewhere around the world. It is amazing that when you oppose their reality with an equal and opposite reality they fain hearing and ridicule your points, so why can‘t opposition to their points which could be proven to be held by a lot more of the scientific community since they are based on reality and not on theory’s that have no weight in the physical world. Remember that Global Warming/Climate Change is based on theoretical computer models of what could happen in the future.
All you have to do is go back to the ‘70’s and ‘80’s these same scientists were predicting Global Cooling so bad that it would equal another Ice Age at least in the Northern Hemisphere. And when you point that out to them they have an ah ah aha h ha moment of trepidation trying to explain that away. Congress did not pass laws making it illegal to pollute then.
Maybe all the laws on the books about removing pollution are what is causing Global Warming, since the SMOG is now removed the sun can warm the surface easier so temperatures are rising. But it is my opinion that the Earth is going through a 26,000 year phase of Axis re-alignment and scientists are not sure of the consequences since they have not spent time studying that fact, but it is just beneath their feet in the ground if they can find the dirt levels in time. Our magnetic poles will be moving as they are now but will it continue to move the same direction when that day or era comes. You see if you believe that the Mayan Calendar resets or ends in the Winter Solstice of 2012 then we don’t have a lot of time to find a solution.

“And I got just the kind of responses to my last comment I expected!”
“And then, in the grandest of hypocrasies,”
In English why must we never start a sentence with AND or BUT? Because using these words would be related to the previous sentence and therefore should be in the previous sentence.
“So Progressives are the condescending ones, yet it is you folks that are insisting the 63% of voters in Massachusetts’ 7th district are somehow not patriotic, not American enough, because they voted how they wanted to vote.” Run on sentence here. It should read, “So Progressives are the condescending ones (rhetorical question understood to be answered in the affirmative)? Yet Conservatives insist 63%……………
“People on these boards wave around the “we the people” phrase”
This sentence should read, “People on this board wave around the phrase, “we the people…….”
“because of how shallow the respect for people’s actual choice there is.”
This sentence should read, “………for people’s actual is in reality.”
“and that’s what I was mocking,”

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 5:22pmI‘m sorry did my opposition to your use of the English language offend you because of my condescension in the context of my avoidance of other people’s poor English?
This is why this “politician” is a an arrogant blowhard. Not because he has an opposing view, but because he is arrogant and assuming in his expression of it. Therefore, it elicits an emotional response from those with the opposing view. Case in point…….your response to me. That is what people are responding to with contempt. I would never really call people out on their writing skills and use of English. That would be to ignore my many errors in the same area. So mine was an exercise to demonstrate that in stating your opposing view is fine, but when you do so with arrogance and condescension, as is the case with this politician and my grammar correction, you really weaken your own position in the eyes of reason and close the door or real discussion. I hope I didn’t offend your English sensitivities. But it did demonstrate my point in a proficient manner. No hard feelings and thanks for helping out.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 5:24pmAnd not for nothing (there I go again!), but most of your “edits” are simply stylistic nitpicking. Contrary to what you remember from elementary school, it is not necessarily incorrect to begin a sentence with “and” or “but.” What you assumed was a rhetorical questions was not–I’m sorry that my complicated “so…, yet….” construction was confusing. Coordinating conjunctions are hard!
““and that’s what I was mocking,”
Just a suggestion here. Maybe the next time you choose to criticize people for condescension you might try to avoid admitting that you are using mockery as a tool.”
Just a suggestion here. Maybe when criticizing someone’s grammar, you should write in complete sentences. Also, sound logic would help. It is not hypocritical to mock someone for being condescending. Call me condescening all you want, as long as you recognize the “pot calling rhe kettle” scenario.

It is obvious from your retort that I touched on some nerves there and that is understandable given the way I so smugly corrected you even though I did not use absolutely “proper” English in doing so. See why it is so hard to receive something from someone who is arrogant in their presentation and thinks they know more than they really do ???? Such is the case with this politician and the comments you criticized. Unfortunately you have attended hypocrisy 101 in the college of life. Posted on March 12, 2011 at 5:53pm@ PPMAN………I think we can both agree as reasonable people that people from both sides of any issue sometimes, especially when feeling offended or demeaned as in this case, will respond in an emotional way, heck I am sure we have both done the same thing plenty of times. However, I think when a politician makes a public and national statement in a way that castigates the opposing view as idiots or imbeciles when the topic being discussed is, at the VERY LEAST, an unsettled science is why this approach is so divisive. Therefore, I can understand people voicing their displeasure with this man’s arrogance. I would certainly give a pass to liberals on the other side of the aisle if it went the other way and the counter argument was presented in the same tone and manner. I would not mind if they made comments about their feelings on a blog or website. However, I would hope that if they engaged someone of the opposing view they would be able to do so with a mutual respect for dignity, unless the other person as lost that respect.

What really makes this so entertaining is your high opinion of your own skills. Of course there are no hard feelings–it is difficult to convey through type the fact that I am not taking this quite so seriously as you may be lead to believe by my posts. I do find it odd that you seem to think I was defending Rep. Markey’s snark–I don’t doubt it was excessive and perhaps even counter-productive (which is the point that you made). Posted on March 12, 2011 at 6:27pm@ PPMAN………….Apparently not a thing since you are agreeing with me………I just thought your post chastising others here on the blaze for their ire was not exactly appropriate given the story and the politicians attitude. I didn‘t really know whether you supported or condemned his actions because you aimed at commentators here and didn’t really say in your comment that you didn’t condone how he handled himself. That’s what I found a little interesting. And I would surely hope by now after all our interactions that you wouldn’t think that I see myself in a high and mighty way or as you put it, “high opinion of your own skills.” I think I have demonstrated to you over our discussions that when I am wrong I will acknowledge it. And I have apologized to you when assuming wrongly of you, I have yet to receive one from you. I have been accused of not being intelligent, of being a college freshman, etc. by you and yet you feel I am high minded? I do my absolute best to remain consistent and apply the same standards to everyone and because I commented on some of your posts and you assumed I meant one thing when I really was just demonstrating to you the position of people here on the blaze by placing you in a similar position I am high minded of myself? Believe me i am quite aware of my limitations and weaknesses as a person. The question isn‘t whether we do or don’t think to highly of ourselves, but rather do we acknowledge that it is our nature to always do so? He who says he has no pride has the most. C.S. Lewis

So the voters of MA were not the issue rather the arrogance of the politician was which you agreed with. So why not denounce that type of attitude? But because you have an ideological axe to grind you held posters here to a standard that you did not maintain yourself when you felt demeaned by me, which was the point of what I did. I did it to point out that your attitude is no different from the ones you criticized. With regard to the divisiveness of the politician we agree, apparently on nothing else though.
