Sneak Peek: Sunday’s Best Super Bowl Commercials…Before They Air!

Although the Super Bowl isn’t until this weekend, some companies have already “leaked” their top dollar ads online.

Based on these “leaked” ads, here’s what viewers can expect to see this year: Sketcher’s replacement of Kim Kardashian with a French Bulldog (i.e. an upgrade), Matthew Broderick reprising his role as Ferris Bueller, Volkswagen revisiting its Star Wars theme, and, of course, those rather unpleasant Go Daddy ads (to this day, we’re still not entirely sure what they’re peddling; something to do with NASCAR drivers and lingerie).

And instead of having to wait until Super Bowl Sunday to catch some of these incredibly expensive adsBusiness Insider has gone ahead and rounded them up for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.

The Ferris Bueller-themed Honda ad:

[Author’s note: When we first saw the 10-second teaser for this trailer, we thought that it was an ad for a “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” sequel. Luckily, we were proven wrong and our faith in humanity was restored.]

Volkswagen’s “The Bark Side”:

[Author’s note: Given the overwhelming popularity of Volkswagen’s previous Star Wars-themed ad, it only makes sense that the German auto maker would stick with its winning formula.]

Audi’s Vampire Party:

[Author’s note: Although we don't care for Audi, we care even less for the moody, sullen-faced, glittery GAP models responsible for destroying what Bela Lugosi and Max Schreck created. We hope that next year's Audi ad will avenge Lon Chaney, Jr. and Warren Zevon.]

Chevy Graduation Gift:

[Author’s note: Say what you want about Chevy and its ties to government bailouts, but this commercial is pretty funny.]

I am sorry people..these made me laugh and isn’t that what it is all about. BIG fan of Feris Bueller and so I loved that one naturally. Sometimes you gotta let go of the political stuff and just enjoy it for what it is..come on. Only one I didn’t get was the Apollo one. I have seen better with him. The don’t show the Seinfeild one here and that one if funny too. I don’t watch football so I appreciate that they offer these up before hand.

Nothing down on you but Ferris Bueller made me laugh when I first saw it, a little the second time I saw it but the countless times that movie‘s been shown since it’s as old as Godzilla.

Yep, they made me laugh too.
No, that is not what it’s all about. At all.

As a long-time marketing genius myself, I would ditch the CMO or Marketing VP or whoever approved the creative, the production budgets, and the ad spend on these. (Possible exception being the Chevy spot, but that would take some ‘splainin Lucy.)
Caveat: the Century 21 ad did NOT make me laugh. That fish stinks from head-to-tail.

That Broderick commercial is so typical of so called ‘creative’ people of today in Hollywood and the likes. They bank on people‘s stupidity of the past to remake things that were great the first time that they butcher by updating them with today’s useless drunken drug addicts that litter the landscape of US entertainment. (IE remake of Karate Kid to keep Will Smith happy inserting his little rugrat into the starring role).

SO they can‘t think of anything new and creative so they remake the old which then takes the better old product inserting today’s ‘stars’ who most can’t stand. I don‘t mind Broderick but I didn’t find that thing in the least bit entertaining and YOU KNOW he got paid millions for doing it. They just pass the cost of renting these people down to us./

I prefer car commercials that focus on the damn car, even during the Stupor Bowl. And that’s not a typo.

I would say that these are the worst Super Bowl commercial I seen in a long time – the Dogs were good – other that that – they leave little to desire.

Note to author – I happen to love Audis….and the song too. It’s “The Killing Moon” by Echo and the Bunnymen. I like that some of the great 80s songs are making a comeback. VW came out with a good commercial using “Just Like Honey” by The Jesus and Mary Chain.

The average football game has only about 16 minutes maximum of “live” play. The average is about 12 to 15 minutes.
Each team plays 16 games per season, not counting playoffs and the Super Bowl.
That means, at 16 minutes each game, the defense playing 8 minutes and the offence the same, at 8 minutes times 16 games, the maximum a player can ply for one season is 128 minutes or about 2 hours for the entire season.
Don’t believe me? Get out a stop watch and time the “live” playtime when the ball is “in play”.
2 hours max per season and they make how much? Makes Romney look like one of Obama’s food stamp queens.

Sorry…. the average “Super Bowl” game has about 16 minutes of play time. The average “regular” game has about 12 to 15 minutes.

You’ll also see that the 1st quarter has the longest amount of play time and the 4th quarter the least.
Try it. I‘ve been timing Super Bowl games since the Redskins played in about the early 1980’s.

I’m not the one with the name antisocial.
And it’s still only 8 minutes a game max! Time it yourself. I played Rugby for 2 years. Football players are like weak girlie girls compared to Rugby players.

      @antisocial21
Our Rugby games had an A team and a B team. I played both. A team played 40 minutes 1st half non-stop, then a 10 minute break, finishing up with another 40 minute non-stop 2nd half. Then a 20 minute break and the SECOND GAME started. I played both games. In Rugby the ball is never “dead. If a player goes down, you can’t replace him and you play 14 against 15. If another player goes down you play 13 against 15…. and no pads or helmets. I played more in one Rugby game than professional football player’s play in an entire season….. and without any gear!

Poor baby football player! What 18 games too much for 10 million dollars? Pads, Helmets, 6 days off in between games. Give me a break! How many games are played in the NHL, 82? Football is a pansy sport in comparison. Hockey is far more physical to the human body than football. So please think before you speak, hypocrite!

Ugh…the only reason why Matthew Broderick ever made it as an actor was that he played the most boring person in the world. That man has absolutely no personality at all. Perfect example: The Music Man remake. AWFUL!! No wonder they had him play Inspector Gadget – he’s a robot just like him.
