SNL: Mick Jagger Performs Presidential Election-Themed Blues Song

Mick Jagger SNL Presidential Election Blues Song | Jeff Beck

NBC

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger hosted the season finale of Saturday Night Live, which unsurprisingly featured no shortage of rock and roll.

One such musical number was a blues song Jagger wrote about the presidential election, accompanied by legendary guitarist Jeff Beck.

It featured a small jab at GOP candidate Mitt Romney — “don’t ever let him cut your hair” — but otherwise didn’t offer any prediction about who will win in November.

The song contained one swearword, “sh-t,” which the Los Angeles Times reported led to some NBC affiliates cutting away early for commercials.

Mick is getting to long in the tooth, to be performing like a young Rock Star. Time to start writing songs, and, leaving the stage to others. Those stones stopped rolling long ago!

Watched SNL with my grown kids, it was so enjoyable to see their reactions to Mick Jagger…

Am I the only who realized they did not put Romney down at all that evening, while they poked good fun at Sharpton and other DemonRats!

This strange little “blues” song seemed to my family to be leaning to Romney (if not exactly anti-Obama). But, as my oldest remarked, “the guy’s not American, so who cares?”

We need to be vigilant when someone like Rupert Murdock renounces his birth citizenship just to take control of American radio and TV stations, and then become embroiled in political mischief. Should we trust any expatriate who tells us what we need to be thinking? Just Saying!

      Hello, FED, off topic question?

I am just curious where you were located during the war. Did you serve overseas? Or were you an MP in an administrative role in the states? Also, could it be a stateside MP would probably be more likely to be involved with military problem makers and the anti patriot fringe elements?

      THANK YOU for your service.

And the Steel Weelchair Tour keeps rolling along. He should’ve written a rap song. It takes about the same amount of talent. Just take any nursery rhyme, put a beat behind it, throw in a few cuss words and references to B*tches and Ho’s and wa la, you have a #1 single that’s suitable for any progressive audience or drive-by shooting.
Same with the blues. Just learn how to play the same 3 chords over and over again, write some lyrics about, a cheating woman, shooting someone or a presidential election, get an over the hill has been singer to sing it along with a great guitar player to play some killer lead and your progressive audience will scream with delight.
(You‘d think that after all these years Jagger could’ve at least payed someone enough money to teach him how to dance so he doesn‘t keep looking like he’s got something stuck up his a$$.)

“wa la”? Are you trying to say “voila”? I know ow we don’t like the French on this site, but when we steal a word let’s at least spell it right. Or at least phonetically close.

      Saranda…
No, I wrote exactly what I intended to write. If I wanted to use french words I would have used them but since I don’t live in France I chose to use words that some magicians use when they pull a rabbit out of a hat.
Maybe you could practice reading what is actually written instead of injecting your own interpretations as to what someone “really” means and then getting all bent out of shape when your overactive imagination informs you that a word was typed incorrectly We don’t get points on here for pretending to be the spelling police.
(By the way. The word “How” is spelled H-O-W not O-W.)

I, for instance, like using viola! instead of voila!, due to my affinity to musical instruments and practically no affinity to French. I also tend to shift the context so it contains inferences to both meanings of voila! and playing more than a little violin, hence my use is entirely appropriate. The use of wa-la (wa la) has it’s place too, as the context dictates.

The objections are, Saranda, pardon my Italian, bologna.

Journey’s, Neal Schon, lead guitar & vocals is not too shabby either.
This evening May 20th reminds me of Journey’s song: The wheel in the sky keeps on turning. I don’t know where I will be tomorrow. Once a week do my home exercise program to the Journey’s Greatest Hits DVD..1978-1997. Randy Jackson on the programs of “Girl Can’t Help It” (poke-a-dot-guitar) a hoot..Be Good To Yourself & I’ll Be All Right. Randy sure rocked out with his vocals & guitar playing. To me, one of the greatest love songs written & vocal by Steve Perry (greatest vocals & pretty darn cute).. Open Arms. Great band..and great songs. Mitt & his band is ok with some songs but I am amazed he is still around & still rocking out.
      Be of good cheer!

Guitar styles are hard to quantify for objective comparison, so let’s apply equality-minded solutions.

Let’s see… Jimi Hendrix was 1/4 Cherokee, and also black. Beck is a known descendant of English blood, making his minority status null. Knowingly or not, Beck was constantly repressing Hendrix. And as Hendrix’s fellow Native American Elizabeth Warren points out, Beck moved his guitar playing goods to market on roads the rest of us paid for. Advantage: Hendrix.

And then there’s healthcare. In 1969 Beck fractured his skull in a car wreck. Nearly a year later Hendrix had a sip of beer. Hendrix died in the ambulance… Beck lives today. If this isn’t an indictment of our capitalist healthcare system, then what is? Advantage: Beck. But for all the wrong reasons.

I think we need to have hearings in Congress to really get at the truth here. We can’t wait any longer.

mmm….uh….. Welllll……Mick Jagger is a British citizen so whatever he or “lemon mouth” Piers Morgan say about US politics is meaningless. Even if Mick did just get through Jammin with the current Pres. Lame lyrics. Have no idea what they mean and the melody is ripped off……but it sort of made me sad. All my concert memories of the Rollin’ Stones just were instantly fossilized. Some greats know when to quit.

The liberals have always tried to pass Mick off as a far left but he’s not…my guess is Mick (who attended London School of economics) Has a very conservative side. He knows Mitt could handle this country better and he knows Obama is a fool.

If Mick wanted to sing about the Obama Administration, he should have stuck with the old songs:

“Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name
What’s confusing you is the nature of my game
Every cop is a criminal, all the sinners are saints
Heads is tails, just call me Lucifer, I’m in need of some restraint.”
