SNL Reworks O‘Reilly’s Super Bowl Interview With Obama

I have a wide toleration for attempts a humor (a difficult enterprise) and try to grade for effort even when the material falls short. So the opening the most recent Saturday Night Live puts my comedic tolerance to the test. Clearly The Blaze is not shy about posting SNL segments that are not so favorable to conservatives and/or Glenn. So the fact of their attempting to tweak Bill O’Reilly is not the issue. It’s trying to find the exact point where it comes off the rails. I’m gonna say early. The first half of the sketch is precedented on the idea that O’Reilly is often wildly wrong on simple facts. Liberals can certainly disagree with his opinions, but it is really hard to say that O’Reilly comes to interviews unprepared. So the suspension of disbelief process fails.
(via Mediaite)
So the jabs at some O’Reilly mannerisms are fair game but the overall impersonation falls way flat. And two years into the Obama era, the Fred Armisen version of the President is still “uneven” to many. All the more a mystery since one SNL cast member, Jay Pharoah, does a much better Obama:

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 10:27amHave you ever listened to one of Obama’s new conferences? By the time he has answered the question either I have forgotten what the question was or no longer care. SNL should make a joke about that, I would find that funny. They were close this time but their attitude about Fox showed through.

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 8:48amI believe that most of you are missing an important point here. Yes, Bill interrupts people and knocks them back in line as a judge should/would do. ” That was a yes or no question. ” Not an essay question!
Report Post »But that is not my point here.
In this it shows that in times of trouble or when things are not going his way the president is a bumbling, rambling, frightened child.
Deer in the headlights.

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 5:30amThe hollywood freaks run around and talk about no more bullying but yet on a daily basis they bully others yes this type of comedic crap is called bullying? NBC and other liberal channels show this crap day in and day out it promotes hate and making fun of others. I don‘t watch it I don’t like it and I don’t think its good for the morals or morale of America. What they think is funny is trash and it promotes hate. George Carlin used to get his point across by making fun of situations not on the back of other people. IF your so desperate to get a laugh from poking fun at others its no wonder other countries want to take us out we have no class or morals. IF you thought that was funny I feel sorry for you. Its pathetic. What is even more pathetic is the news will play this crap all week over and over again?? They don‘t seem to understand if they don’t give this attention it will go away. Stop making jokes off other people go back and find out what real comedy was like George Burns and REd Skeleton. Can America sink any lower.

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 4:32amThe fact that they are still using the horrible Fred impression is not because Jay can’t do it- it’s because they are trying to protect Obama from negative criticism no matter the quality impression.
Jay does the impression with a “black” intonation. They don‘t want to attribute that quality to Obama so they don’t use it because they think that Americans are so dumb and racist that they will realize Obama is a black man.
So they’d rather have a white guy in darkened make up (tell me how that is not racist) play the role because he comes off (in voice) as a white guy and it plays better to represent Obama in their view.
Liberals are sick in the head in that they’d rather play away from the actual race of the guy so that [in their view] they don’t demean him. Why else would they use such a bad impersonator?

Would love to see the first lady look alike and I mean a real comedy routine not politically correct. They dont do her because they are liberal and they did not have a real funny skit with this oreilly. The guy was good but the writing was stupid. Cant wait until oreilly has it on his show. Perhaps it would have been funnier with oreilly and the body language woman trying to make sense of the interview. It prepares them for their next week of talking points while providing them with all they need to know about the right-wing . SNL supplements their daily ‘ 2 minutes’ of educational pieces and makes them feel that by ranting on PuffyHo combined with watching Jon Stewart and ingesting every word on their local chapter ‘communist org’s website, they can keep Obama in office for ever
