SNL: Shepard Smith Interviews the Romney Family

SNL: Shepard Smith Interviews the Romney Family

NBC

Saturday Night Live opened with an eerie Fox News’ “Shepard Smith” interviewing the Romney family about the campaign’s recent primary victories.

In between speaking to his wasted-away skeleton “mother” in the corner of the studio, Smith, played by Bill Hader, asked Romney about his continuing inability to come off as a regular American.

“I’m focusing on the victories, and as we say in the Romney house, I’m happier than a poor man eating a can of beans from a dumpster,” Romney said.

“Wo-ow,” Smith drawled. “Your shoes must be made out of chocolate because you keep putting your foot in your mouth.”

“My shoes aren’t made out of chocolate, Shepard,” Romney said. “They’re made of fine Italian leather and they were $1,200 a piece. They cost more than most Americans make in a month.”

Turning to the five Romney sons, Smith delighted in commenting about how frightening he found the indistinguishable men.

“I like creepy things, so I lo-ove you boys,” Smith said. “I’d like to book you a three-night stay in my nightmares.” And later: “Our thanks to Stephen King for creating those boys.

Was this skit intended to be funny? If so it failed. You can bet money on the SNL lineup. The opening skit has to do with Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, or any other Republican. Their faux news always includes mocking Republicans and inserted in between crass and vulgar skits inevitably there will be one or two more skits mocking republicans. I turn on SNL at 11:30P every Saturday night. 99.9% of the time I turn it off at 11:35P.

I’m no Romney fan and believe he deserves a spanking.
But I could not find anything humorous here. It was bashing on an opposing news agencies creditabilty and force feeding the class warfare message. Just really annoyed me too much.

I’m glad some of you got a laugh from it. Maybe the clip wasn’t a total waste. =)

This pegged Shepard Smith for me. Creepy and full of his own left-wing opinions foisted on whomever is being interviewed. When they cut to the “Psycho Mom” in the rocker, I damn near lost it! Hilarious, just from the Shepard Smith aspect. The Romney aspect? *shrug* Completely predictable and tired.

I don’t know if it was a repeat last night or a new show, but I did catch the first 10 minutes or so of the Real Housewives of Disney. I didn’t laugh very much, Liberals just aren’t funny, but it did peak my interest on how they decided to trash all the Disney characters by making them ho’s, alcoholics, racist or other characters. Disgusting.

Glenn‘s has more humor in his monologues than any of these yahoo’s. I laugh all the time when Glenn get’s into character. Why? because he is imitating the TRUTH!

This is the best SNL can do at this point – noughting going on in the WH that could even be considered funny! Obama has a free pass to keep on:

      Playing Golf
      Taking Extravagant Vacations
      Saluting to Michelle
      Sucking up to Soros
      Hire Criminals in his Administration
      Rolling Israel under the Bus
      Organizing with Van Jones
Give more Guns to Mexican Drug Lords
      Blame Bush
and apologizing to Muslim Extremest about how horrible America is.

Nope nothing here for SNL that would be as funny as Shepard Smith and Romney Son.

Brilliant work SNL – you have the Libs in your pocket and you don’t even have to work hard – to get your radiance to laugh and hate America.

But I would love to see just one skit on Debbie Wassermann Schulz – probably to difficult to find someone who can play her that is that ugly!

I actually get the point of the joke. Sheppard Smith does have a creepy aura to him. Lately he’s been getting even thinner and emaciated looking and this just adds to it.

But yes, I wish SNL would have the balls (or the fairness) to portray Obama as an out of touch elitist snob whose economic policies are all giant failures. There is a wealth of material there to lampoon and it speaks volumes that nobody on TV will go near it.

Sheppard Smith is very creepy. Maybe its his wide set eyes that gives me a feeling of Arab swarthyness, like he should be reporting on Al Jazira instead of FNC. Creepy. That coupled with his creepy southeast democratic party leanings, and now this Fox News emaciated anorexic look where all the bones start becoming prominent under the skin, eeeek creepy. Then as he is standing there talking to someone on The Big Board, he will do a weird turn where the camera stays close in on his face and you get this leering stinkeye Sheppard pivoting over to the Lawyer Table where pop bottle glasses guy is, etc, etc, its just weird. all the way around.

If ever there was a fake, it‘s the man who’s served 30 years in the House and has crammed thousands pork projects into bills he knows will pass, then votes against them, so he can say he doesn’t vote for earmarks. SNL only makes outrageous skits when making fun of Republicans – usually personal – this is just a hit piece against Romney.

Obama is calling a college student that is basically saying women who go to expensive elite colleges can’t afford birth control because religious institutions won’t give it to them free. That freedom to have sex is a right that the government must pay for (STDs not withstanding as pills are not a protection against STDs). He is thanking her for bringing this to light – that is comedy.

During the gulf oil crisis Obama ignores it for the first two weeks, then he blames BP (not his administration that was about to give BP an award) and puts them in charge of stopping the mess as he has elaborate parties, plays golf and goes on expensive vacations NOT to the gulf region as he tells everyone else to do – that is fodder for a skit – you know Roman burning while Nero fiddles.

Obama’s first two years of his presidency he has a solid majority in the house and senate yet blames not getting things done on Republicans – he demonizes his opponents and them laments lack of bi-partisanship – he continues to blame Bush but gives Bush no credit when it was his policies that cause things to go well such as touting more drilling being done under his administration in the last ten years when it was Bush that gave the permits while his administration holds them up. SNL, can you satirize that for a change?

Good point. What a funny skit that would make, with Obama calling a sex-crazed coed on the phone as she’s getting laid and has a line of guys standing outside her dorm-room door — and she claims she can’t afford birth control as these guys unfurl rolls of 20 dollar bills as they stand in line.

Oh wait, she looks like Paula Poundstone — never mind.

Has SNL done any skits making fun of the Obama girls? This isn’t humor, it’s a vicious partisan attack pretending to be a comedy skit. I haven’t watched this show in over 10 years. I don’t find personal attacks on people funny. The left pretends to be so compassionate, but if you look at what they find amusing, it’s always personal attacks. Nothing creative about them.

That would be policy at NBC, that’s what they do as they play to their liberal base. They use politics in all their programming. One might say that speaks of their sponsors as well. Everything they do must be sanctioned by their sponsors or they wouldn’t do it. So if you don’t like it, send a message to their sponsors. Otherwise they think it’s cool.

It‘s sickening to think that people are voting for Romney just because the media’s told them he’s going to win. (Tells you a lot about how easy it is to influence human nature, doesn’t it?) Could it be that people have decided Mitt Romney is the best one out there? Do you think you are the only one that is not influenced by the media?
