I could be wrong but SNL not only isn’t funny it is irellevant and has been for some time. Which one of these guys is the replacement for John Belushi, Eddie Murphy,or Chevvy Chase or which of the wemen represents the Gilda Radner or Jane Curtan replacement? I know, I know that was a long long time ago but to me that was when it was both relevant and funny.

As far as the Blaze relevence pointing out the cultural failures of the media, either news, entertainment or in this case non-comedy is very relevent.

AWAKENOW You know what is funny, the fact that if it were not for Glenn B and Sara P to make fun of, they would not have any ratings at all. Thats funny. You know what else is hilarious, all the things that the democrats did like healthcare, cap and trade, all the bailouts and the stimulus, they cannot talk about or campaign on, but the republicans can, now thats funny.

The point many seem to be missing here and which in fact GB has explained quite succinctly is that without Morals you cannot have a Constitutional Republic. Religion and morals go together like sliced bread :)

I don’t watch TV at all (closest exceptions are Beck’s programs from Internet recordings and a few on-line clips recommended by reputable sources).

Obsessive reporting on Johnson, Johnston, Sullivan, Stewart, et alia does not happen at reputable sources.

I wish The Blaze would make arrangements with the AssofSpazzHQ for them to add SNL to make a third item they report on, and drop it here. Maybe they will have time for a fourth and you can get them to cover Jon Stewart as well.

I get tired of the obsessive reporting on stuff that is of no value whatever.

I agree. It did seem out of place. The sketch even closes on an entirely different note, so: yep -entirely forced insertion there.

But I did find it funny because it mirrors me and my daughter. Me the GB fan, and her the one who rolls her eyes at me being a fan. I could totally relate to this.

It was mildly funny. The part that disturbs me a little is the atheism reference. Seems to be a growing epidemic among young people. When did this start?

@Eternal Lucy- it all started when our schools began teaching the kids that we came from nothing.. if we were evolved from nothing what is the reason to follow ANY morals? or believe in God? if it is all just survival of the fittest then why SHOULD anyone believe in God? That big lie has not only led to disbelief of God, but is also the roots of racism.

I have noticed so much leftist propaganda on TV, movies, magazines, so-called news channels, even the History Channel, I can no longer watch a show through to the end, I almost always change the channel due the insults heaped upon conservatives. I still try again to find a show to watch, but inevitably must change the channel.

It is a good thing I have a good selection of home videos and at times must watch the “Dirty Harry” series because Inspector Callahan did not buy into the PC scene from the very beginning. Like myself and other conservatives, he knew better. On the back of my Sudden Impact video tape, Clint Eastwood says it best, “People are a little edgy about the rights of criminals taking precedence over the rights of victims. I think the public is interested in justice, and that’s what Harry stands for. He’s unique because he stood for the same principles from the beginning, when it wasn’t terribly fashionable.” Sudden Impact was released in 1983 and those sentiments still hold true today.

That cideo is a bit outthere. But, the 2012 prophecies are not made up. They have been confirmed by astologers to correspond with the natural cycles our solar sytem and our galaxy go through. Geologist have confirmed great upheavals that occured on regular interval and those intervals correspond with the calendars transitions. I have done a lot of research on the subject and have been very skeptical about the prophecies. The more research i do the more i find a basis in fact to imply that the prophecies point to one of these transitional times. To put into simpler terms it is as natural as the changing of the seasons. The calendar only marks the comming of these transitions. The 2012 event will be chaotic and wrought with terrible castastrophies. These events are not the rath of a GOD they are the natural cycles on a universal scale. Yes, they will have dramatic results on our planet.

Some stuff is for the short term and other is for the long term. Political stuff is short term and very important. Finding our way back to what we lost is long term. You don’t have to get it as long as you let those of us who do do our stuff. Glad you are still listening even if you shut down on some of the stuff.

It’s kinda like I used to tell my students. Much of what I say won’t even crack through the concrete of you skulls today, but some day it will come back to you and you’ll think…”oh! that’s what she was talking about!.” Years later, many have reached out to me to say just I was right and that they finally grew to understand and have thanked me for planting the seeds way back when. I hope it will be like that for you folks sometime. In the meantime, keep listening, let the stuff that doesn’t seem important drift in one ear, but don’t be surprised if someday it all makes perfect sense. When that happens, just let it.

I agree about Glen claiming god is our only hope type thing. Glen does say doesn’t have to be the christian god, and even atheist are okay, but unless you whatch everyday it is easy to miss that point. Part of the problem is the word “God” and what image that brings up in our minds. God = a single being, looking like the popular portrayal of Jesus. Someone says god and the image is God = an powerful man or individual, micro managing the world. That is the image i think the average person has, as that is the imagery we are given growing up in the USA. I have to make a real effort to remember “God” is a higher power, and can mean many differant things to the religions of the world. Anyway, i don’t know where im going with this really.

One thing though that annoys me, the arrogance of former drunks that find god think everyone else’s life must be screwed.

Texan, that‘s a great quote that unfortunately doesn’t apply to conservatives and especially Glenn Beck. By the way, who says Mormons cannot be holy rollers? They proselytize and are always imposing their values on others (e.g., Prop 8 in CA). If the shoe fits… There I go again, being annoyed by the uninformed who believe they’re informed.

ABC: Historically, the slur “Holy Rollers” refers to Pentecostals. This slur was created because of the way that Pentecostals sometimes fall on the floor and speak in tongues when they experience what they call “The Baptism of the Holy Ghost.”

I know this, because I used to attend this type of church, and was thus labeled a “Holy Roller.” Thus my being informed on the subject.

By your (incorrect) definition, anyone who proselytizes would be a “Holy Roller.” This would logically include faiths including (but not limited to) Hare Krishna, or Islam. You can see, if you are intellectually honest (and I would not be surprised if you are not) that the slur “Holy Roller” does not apply to anyone, or any faith, who proselytizes.

Steve Smith, your comment is HILARIOUS. Glenn Beck has been averaging about 1.3M viewers according to the weekly Nielsen ratings, while the SNL episode you cite, which isn’t even close to being the highest rated SNL show this year, yielded more than 3.5M viewers. Beck’s ratings have been falling for some time, prompting stock market analysts and others following Fox to speculate on how the network will respond. Meanwhile, the SNL episode you cite beat out all other night shows that week by a large margin. Funny how you assert your opinion as if it had any authority, when the reality is that your views on SNL are OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM and the numbers bear this out. Just like the most of the rest of the views of Beck’s loyal followers. Too bad for Beck that group is actually shrinking. All while SNL keeps growing its media share…. But go on and throw up more unsupported claims that are TOTALLY CONTRADICTED by the reality and the numbers. It is all the right-wing extremists can do. I blog here frequently and have yet to find a conservative who can marshall a shred of evidence, much less a preponderance of it, to spar with me. I’m the one-eyed amongst the blind. I feel bad for you guys…’til I remember that ignorance is bliss and child-like fantasies are comforting. So keep up the Santa Claus and Tooth Fairy stuff like SNL being not funny. Just don’t take a peak at the mainstream, much less the real world. You want to keep up that blissful state of ignorance…

ABC: A couple of points here, regarding your long winded response to Steve Smith.

      1. Mr. Smith only gave the reasons he personally doesn’t watch SNL, and in no way impugned those who still watch.

      2. Glenn Beck’s show is:
      A. A news and opinion show.
      B. On Cable
      C. On in the late afternoon, (5 pm Eastern, 4 Central) at a time when many of his core demographic are still at work. (Conservatives work, in case you didn’t know.)

      3. SNL is:
      A. An entertainment show
      B. On a major network
      C. On at night on the weekend when most of its core demographic are at home.

So basically, in one bloviated comment you have shown that you:
      1. Are adept at comparing apples and oranges, and
      2. Aren’t so darn bright.

      1. Mr. Smith said he was surprised SNL is still on the air, as if 25+ years of killing it in the ratings weren’t enough to remind him that his personal opinion of the show should not serve as a proxy for what is mainstream–a common miscalculation of the far right.

      2. Glenn Beck’s show is:
      A. An entertainment show; calling it news shows you’ve no idea what that should look like.
      B. On Cable or Satellite, which has a combined penetration of 89% of the market; big shows migrate from cable to broadcast, but there is ample market to get big on cable directly
      C. On in the late afternoon, (5 pm Eastern, 4 Central) at a time when many of his core demographic are still at work. (So many conservatives apparently don’t work.)

      3. SNL is:
      A. An entertainment show with a 25+ year history that trounced the ratings of other late night comedy that week
      B. On a major network that gives it about a 15% natural ratings boost only
      C. On at night on the weekend when most of its core demographic are at home.

So basically, in one “bloviated” comment–to borrow your word (you love to speak like O’Reilly, apparently)–you have shown that you:
      1. Are tone deaf to people who assert their tiny, minority opinions as though they reflect what the vast majority of people in the mainstream believe, as quantifiable data clearly shows; and
      2. Aren’t so darn bright to have totally missed the point of my comment.

By the way, if Beck has so much pent up demand amongst would-be viewers who work for a living, then why does that media company, filled with bright executives, make you guys suffer through Greta when you are actually at home on your couch being brainwashed??

ABC: I was educated in the English language long before I ever heard of Bill O’Reilly, whose show I do not watch.

“News opinion.“ He gives his ”opinion“ about the ”news”. I’m sorry that you lack the reading ability to understand such a difficult concept. I understand, I was forced to attend a public school, also. It can be a difficult experience to rise above.

Given the demographics, time of play and and network factors, you might as well be comparing CSI: Wherever with South Park. You simply lack the intellectual honesty to admit it.

Your belief that the fire department should have put the fire out is akin to having your wrecked car towed to State Farm and forcing them to give you retroactive car insurance coverage. In the real world actions and inaction has consequences. If you would check your facts, the wife admitted that she was at fault. The problem with your logic is that everyone would wait until there is a fire then pay once the firemen arrive. This would lead to bankrupt fire departments. Oh I know, in your world they would get an Obama bailout. Wake up and smell the twenty-first century. We the people are tired of paying for your mistakes. Grow a set, man up and take the consequences for your own actions and we will do the same.

It is one thing to state the obvious about insurance. It is another to make fun of a guy who has lost everything. But attacking liberals so viciously it okay, since you’ve already dehumanized them. As for the observations on Beck’s health, I have only compassion for him, do not mock him, but do point out (as he did himself on his show on Thursday) that he is actually not cut out for the name-calling and attacking, which is not his personality, and that such harsh rhetoric is taking a toll on his health. Repeating his only claims is hardly “hating” on the man. But make up facts to suit your narrative. It’s what the conservative extremists do best.

Yes, 4JSchaeffer, let’s let people face consequences. What was former President Bush’s consequences for getting the Iraq War wrong? What was Cheney’s? What were the consequences faced by the Wall Street CEO’s that Bush and Cheney were ready to bail out before Obama was, and who the GOP took care to avoid hurting at all in the financial reforms? What are the consequences to the same old GOP leaders that voted for tax cuts that have increased the debt far more than any of Obama’s spending? What are the consequences to them for now putting forth a Pledge that promises more of the same irresponsible budget math even as they claim they’ve changed? Nice of you to demand facing consequences for the little guy, while CEOs, Wall Street millionaires and elite politicians get off scott free.

Also, you are aware that the US moved away from privatized fire departments in the beginning of the 20th century because of the many problems associated with the scheme. But we don’t even have that in this case. The FD in question still receives state subsidy, so it is not entirely privatized, so the analogy to fully private insurance is not even accurate. Also, I’m 100% certain if the burning house in question belonged to a CEO, Wall Street titan or well-connected politician (especially a Republican, given the state), then the house would not have burned down. When do you start calling for facing consequences to the groups that are best placed to handle such responsibilities from a resource standpoint but who seem to shirk them the most of any group in society? And where is your compassion to at least be quiet and ask others to be quiet, when such a devastating disaster strikes, even if the man is ultimately at fault? The lack of empathy is the right-wing’s greatest weakness…

If NBC weren’t trying so hard to get Cap & Tax passed so it can make billions from bogus global warming innitiatives, I would imagine bandwagon propoganda shows like SNL would have been cancelled a long time ago. Regardless, NBC, CNBC and MSNBC have been blocked from my DirecTV channel guide since 2008.

The snl sketch was mildly humorous. However, it was probably very offensive (perhaps blasphemous would be a better word) to those who think Glenn is some sort of modern-day messiah. Does the phrase, “the constitution is hanging by a thread” mean anything to you? Check it out…. apparently Glenn thinks the elders of the Mormon church are predestined to save our country. This dude has some weird beliefs.
