It looks like something out of the movie “Tremors.” A snowplow cleaning a parking lot in Georgia fell into a hole rear first after the ground literally opened up beneath it. The driver was not injured:

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 4:00pmSure what could possibly go wrong?
We had an incompetent County Administrator, Sends a 5 Ton Dump Truck loaded with 2 Tons of Gravel to plow the top floor of a parking garage that has a gaping hole in the concrete covered with snow that was inspected by incompetent Government inspectors who said it was structurally sound just last month.

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 3:51pmI knew there had to be more to this story. Government incompetence at it’s finest. “Someone clearly forgot to tell the driver of this snow plow about the gaping hole on the top floor of a multi-storey car park.
The truck, loaded with two tons of gravel, was clearing snow from the top deck of the car park in Calhoun, Georgia, when it suddenly disappeared down the hole.
Unbeknownst to the driver, the pile of accumulated snow was covering a sizeable gap in the concrete, causing the truck to fall on to its side before slipping backwards into the hole.
Gordon County Administrator Randy Dowling says the county last month received a report saying the deck, which was built in the mid-1980s, was structurally sound, and noted that the beams did not collapse during the incident.”

I never cease to be tickled at their ridiculous high taxes, idiotic laws, and mind numbing corruption. We’uns in Ten-oh-see pretty much just stick with our crooked sheriffs and politicians that take petty criminals, the senile, and ignorant non-citizens to the polls to make sure they win re-election on crooked electronic voting machines. From what I can see, public employee obligations and social programs here, eat up just about all of our tax dollar muscles and leave nothing behind but gnawed bones. We have a RR trestle over a bridge that is in a hundred yard dash to see which one will collapse first. Could our priorities be a tad out of whack?

My grandpa was a marine and a farmer, landscaper and portrait painter among many things; he loved to hunt and fish as much as me. Only difference was I hunted boar, deer and javalinas especially, with the bow and arrow. Figured it would give them a fighting chance at closer range, and made it more of a challenge for myself on foot.
Besides, I love fishing.

Hi Dale it looks like it‘s a concrete structure here’s a report :
A maintenance truck in Calhoun, Ga., loaded with two tons of gravel fell through a parking deck while clearing snow from its top level in northwest Georgia.
The driver was not injured and no one else was in the parking deck at the time.
Gordon County Administrator Randy Dowling says the county last month received a report saying the deck, which was built in the mid-1980s, was structurally sound, and noted that the beams did not collapse during the incident.

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 4:04pmLike TECOMAN says Union job, the person that was suppose to ensure safety of that part of the parking lot was sick that day and no one is allowed to do his job, so it was never done. but we all know it was the tea party they came in at night and dug a sink hole and covered it with snow, they were under the supervision and direction of Palin and Beck.

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 4:51pmYou know what’s not funny about this…when I was a little kid, my best friend was swallowed up in a hole like that that occurred on a major parkway…it had rained and rained and rained…but then, it always rained in Ohio a lot…problem was that somehow the roadway wasn’t reinforced, it gave way and when the roadway caved in under the weight of the car, the car fell in, front first…The sewer main below the road (big enough in diameter to drive a car in), gave way with the weight of the car and the little girl was thrown out the back window and swept away in the underground sewage system…can’t say enough about safety and quality in road construction…huh? Her name was Claudia…she was riding in the car with a neighbor and their daughter on their way to dance lessons when it occurred…we were all devastated by the loss…she was the only daughter of an older couple…it ruined their lives…

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 5:58pmdale is right, funny but you dont use rebar with asphalt its about compaction and soils its even possible the retainer wall was failing and allowing soils to seep from its confines creating a sinkhole. what kind of drainage was used was it enough? were there cracks in the asphalt etc. etc. these things are almost always due to improper drainage and slopes to allow water to get to the drains.

Because of the poor quality of the comment system (notwithstanding the excellent topics! :) ), everybody wants to be the first post, because everyone else wants their replies to appear on the first page, so people will read them. They are more likely to get pushed to the second page, otherwise.
