‘So Grateful’: ‘Octomom’ Reportedly Off Welfare Thanks to Her New Career in Pornography

Nadya Suleman, better known as “Octomom,” upset many Americans with the announcement that she had decided to go on welfare back in April.

The mother of fourteen, eight of whom she gave birth to in 2009 through in-vitro fertilization, defended her decision at the time, saying: “I still am working as hard as I possibly can to support them.”

She added that she was reluctant to accept public assistance, but concluded: “[My] priority is my children, their health, their well-being, their safety…Who cares how I feel?  Who cares about me?  It’s 100 percent about my children.’’

She told Matt Lauer at the time that, despite posing topless for a British magazine, she drew the line at pornography.

“I won’t touch other human flesh. The only flesh I’m touching is my own,” she said.

She regrettably continued: “I have to be the ultimate positive role model [for my children].”

Well, congratulations to “Octomom” for getting off welfare, but unfortunately, it was her newly-launched pornographic career that seemingly made her enough money to be independent.

According to the Huffington Post, the 36-year-old single mother attempts to pose in a “sexy manner” while surrounded by baby clothes a number of the graphic photos. In others, she is depicted ironing, while still others show her covered in SpaghettiOs.

“I am so grateful for all the amazing opportunities that have come my way and I am finally in a stable situation,” Suleman told E! News. “I will keep working as much as I can to take care of my children.”

Gawker sarcastically adds in an article titled, “Hi Haters: Octomom’s Porn and Stripping Have Gotten Her Off Welfare”:

I guess this means we won’t be hearing for her for a while? Just kidding — Suleman is notoriously fame-hungry. Plus, now that she’s broke even, she might as well try to make a profit.

Suleman is now a stirring emblem of the American spirit and independence. Hear that, Obama? She doesn’t need your free handouts. So far, however, Mitt Romney has not asked her to join him on the campaign trail.

Let’s hope that never happens.

      If she were living in a Communist country she would not have been allowed to have this many children, they would have forced her to abort the majority of them and then sterilized her. In our society she does have the freedom to have all these children despite what you or I and most people here think. Now she is apparently using what she believes is her best assets to make a living. Again not a popular move on her part but she is off the public dole so they report. I can’t imagine raising that many kids I have two and I have a tough time, If this is her choice then she will ultimately have to explain this to her kids later and hope that they still respect her. They will be teased by this as the grow up and that will leave a mark on them.

      May I propose a reasonable middle ground. Everyone has a right to reproduce, but the medical community should refrain from assisting someone who already has as many children as she can realistically be expected to support and care for in continuing to reproduce, and perhaps they should refrain from helping anyone have eight babies at one time.

    I understand the moral minority in this country is against this woman’s choice. But I say “so what?”

    She’s not something I would be interested in, but her chosen profession in “posing for photos” is not a crime, it is not harmful to anybody, and is her right to do. Let the market decide if she sucedes or fails.

    As for the Bible-thumping, holier than thou… remember it was often the women of “ill reputation” that were fundemental in God’s work. But even that aside, I believe the very nature of what the “conservatives” fight for, liberty and the right to pursue her happiness, should be obvious here.

    Clean up your judgemental lives, remove the beams from your eyes, and then you can think about casting that stone.

      Amen to both Ben and Athynz. Obviously this is not the best way to go about supporting your kids, but at the same time I have to applaud her for doing something to take her life into her own hands as opposed to just sitting around and having you and I pay for her kids. As long as she’s not inflicting harm upon anyone else in the process (and sorry GENOPTIMUS, but all the hypothetical families that are supposedly being ripped apart don’t count), what’s it to me (or anyone else, for that matter)?

      Plus, if you truly believe in God, you know that her judgment will come eventually, so why is it that you feel the need to be the judge and jury? Are you somehow putting your own level of perception on par with his? Isn’t that just a little bit arrogant and assumptive on your part?

      Then again, you’ve probably already written me off as just another atheist liberal immoral porn hound hell bent on destroying our society (none of which is true), so I guess my opinion doesn’t really count.

      Windude… God out of schools, that began to change in 1919 John Dewey, atheist, formed the Association for the Advancement of Progressive Education (AAPE) as a pressure and lobbyist group to influence public education, public education has trended towards science and the removal of the Bible from public education. One of their first targets to get the Bible removed from the schools was George Washington. As father of our country his picture was in every class room, every public building and on the money everyone had, the one dollar bill. His reputation had to be tarnished and schools are the place to start.

      These are the people who softened performance grading by removing A, B, C, D, F and use S and U. These are the folks who promoted blue ribbons for everyone because they participated. These are the folks who sold the idea of standardized education, multiple choice questions, text books. Now we are wondering what happened to mortality and critical thinking. Imagine learning critical thinking from a single source. Imagine learning morality with no way of measuring it.

      We can improve anything to the degree we can measure it. How do you measure critical thinking or morality with a multiple choice test? Public education is failing because the public isn’t involved in education.

      It’s just that she has gone from a bad situation to worse. And now she is falling into that great moral abyss , that very few are able to return from, and will certainly lead to more suffering and tragedy. And it will all unfold right before our eyes.

      This women needs prayers, from others not anger and contempt. Even if she has made really bad choices in her life. But who do you know that hasn’t made bad choices in their lives ? It’s just that most are able to overcome and recover, and they forget it was once them in the bad situation, and there was no media covering their bad choices.

    This is interesting. As a conservative and someone who believes wholeheartedly in the free market…I applaud her. She got off of government assistance by inserting (no pun intended) into a market in which she is utilizing her talents and skills to make a living for herself and children. HOWEVER…I am also someone who believes in the sanctity of the family and I believe this is not a profession that will ever bring a sense of pride or accomplishment. It is morally questionable and something I do not condone. This is one of those times that I have to personally do some soul-searching. I would never want my daughter to do this but I also would do everything in my power to help her not take government assistance. I will not, however, demean this woman and call her names or belittle her (like many have done on here on you should be ashamed). I am trying my best to understand.

      @Threemonkeysmama Im conservative and i don’t hate her,she is a human being who has really made some mistakes.How many mothers would have just given up and handed over the kids to the state?Im really shocked at how brutal all of your comments have been about this woman.As far as im am concerned those who watch PORN are no better than those who perform it.You mention in one of your comments that she is the most hated person in America, huh, more than Our traitor in chief or say the Dark night movie killer?       everyone gets a ‘calling from God’ as you put it…it’s whether or not one chooses to answer. I certainly hope she does choose to respond to God–the only One who can save her from her own self. The only One who can save ANY of us from ourselves! I know He is good, just, full of grace and compassion, long suffering, loving, true, righteous…but at the end of the day, He is STILL God–and if we do NOT choose to answer Him–things will not go well for us. We only get two choices in life–choose to serve God, or choose to serve the devil. Most who serve the devil–are so blind they think they are only serving themselves…but truth is truth! Personally–I don‘t think it’s too hard a choice. What is more humiliating? Bowing your knee to serve the God of the universe–who loves you and adopts you as His own child? Or stripping in a club because you are so ‘proud’ you don’t need His help?? Sadly…a lot choose the latter–in so many different ways. There are many ways to humiliate and demean oneself as a human being.
