So How Close did the American ‘Osama bin Laden Hunter’ Get?

So How Close did the American Osama bin Laden Hunter Get? If you ask Gary Faulkner, the self-proclaimed Osama bin Laden Hunter from Greeley, CO who gave up everything to hunt down and kill the world’s number one terrorist, he deserves some credit for Osama bin Laden’s death.

“I had a major hand and play in this wonderful thing, getting him out of the mountains and down to the valleys… Someone had to get him out of there. That’s where I came in,” Faulkner told ABC News. “I scared the squirrel out of his hole, he popped his head up and he got capped.”

And while he’s proud of the U.S. military, he’s not ashamed to sing his own praises: “They were handed this opportunity on a platter from myself.”

Last June Faulkner, a construction worker, set out on his quest armed with a dagger, some biblical literature, a pistol, night-vision goggles, and a samurai sword. And as crazy as it sounds, CNN says he was relatively close to bin Laden’s compound the day the terrorist was killed. Key word, “relatively:”

How far off was Faulkner, whose across-the-world trek still remains shrouded in mystery?

Chitral to Abbottabad is roughly about 300 miles, according to Google Maps technology, indicating about a “7-hour” drive.  Yeah right. To put the distance in perspective, according to Google, the two places are about the same distance as Atlanta, Georgia, to the Florida Panhandle.

Of course, much of the Pakistan route is undriveable because of foothills and mountains. The area is also said to be inhabited by fiercely independent tribes.

Now that his journey is over, Faulkner not only wants a piece of the glory, but he also wants a piece of the $27 million reward placed on bin Laden’s head.

In an initial interview with ABC, he wasn’t convinced bin Laden was dead. But that seems to have changed now that he’s looking for compensation:

So How Close did the American Osama bin Laden Hunter Get?

“He hadn’t been living there for no damn six years,” Faulkner said. “I absolutely flushed him out.”

He added: “I’m on cloud nine. To know that I actually had a hand in this … . It was a good marriage of myself, the Pakistani government and our government and now the man has been brought to justice not even a year later.”

Oh give him little something for his effforts, his heart was in the right place. I agree with giving most to the Navy Seals and the children/relatives/wounded warriors/families of the NYFD & NYPD

What contributed most was the enhanced interrogation techniques. Please don’t erroneously call these techniques “torture.” They are not. When compared to torture, such as cutting ones head off, enhanced techniques leave no permanent damage.

I have a theory as to why UBL’s (dead) body was given religious consideration.. It was an order given by Obama upon giving agreement to ‘pull the trigger’, and is something Obama would have respect for.

Boston Corbett received his share of the reward money, amounting to $1,653.84 after shooting John Wilkes Booth in the neck. As did the other members of the military patrol. Will the Seal Team get to share the reward money? I REALLY, REALLY doubt it!

Members of the Military or Government do NOT qualify for any reward money. I seriously doubt that any of the Seal Team would even consider it. If they do, in fact, think they deserve some of the money, then I think they should pay back the investment we ALL made for them to accomplish the task. Those helos and weapons systems, along with the all the other resourses we spent on this project would then be deducted from the reward money. If that was the case, any military personnel receiving monetary compensation would actually owe us money. Like I said, our Seal Teams are in NO WAY in it for the money!!!

Even though Faulkner may have not done what he says he did do, there is some book material or even movie material with this guy. He did have the guts to do whatever and so my hat is off to the guy regardless whether or not his story is true. Personally I believe that Faulkner believes his own hype but I do not believe he flushed out OBL. I think they got OBL simply through torture of his comrades. Every man in this world has a breaking point and it’s as simple as that.

Probably does, the fact is though, if I recall correctly, citizens of America could not collect on these bounties at all. There was a question from one newscrew about that once, and I think that is how it was explained under the Bush administration.

Gary Faulkner, the self proclaimed Osama-bin-Laden hunter, from the State of Colorado claims he “flushed the squirrel” out of his hold and handed him to the US Navy Seal Team 6 on a silver platter,. Who then easily “capped” or shot and killed him. He claims he was close and closing in on the trail of Osama-bin-Laden when he was killed On May 2, 2011 by a US Special Operations Navy Seal Team. I suppose 300 miles is “close” if your Gary Faulkner.

Yea right, get real Gary. A one man mission of hunting and killing Osama-bin-Laden would have been as probable as me going to the moon riding on a left over 4th of July “Roman Candle”. This guy is something else. Not only does he want recognition for his part in the mission, but, also wants to claim part of the $27 million reward that had been offered for the capture or confirmed killing of Osama. If I was Gary, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting to collect my “reward”. I’m sure others will put in their claim also for the reward or at least part of it.

Why not split the $27 million reward among the families of the NYFD & NYPD members that lost their lives at the World Trade Center, military personel that died at the Pentagon and families of the passengers on flight#193 that crashed in Pennsylvania. I’m glad Osama-bin-Laden was killed instead of being captured. Dead the book on Osama can be closed, but captured, another book would have had to be opened. After 9 years and 8 months not one conspirator has been brought t

You’re absolutely right, B.Q.S.F.C.A. He is an AMERICAN hero! The guy may be off his rocker but that’s just the point, isn’t it? He saw something wrong in the world, put down the Doritos, set aside the remote, picked up his Samurai sword, :) got up out of that rocker and in true American fashion, did something about it!!! He may have more in common with Don Quixote than Rambo but at least he DID SOMETHING! They are trying to breed that out of us! That’s who we ARE! I salute the guy and I think he should get the reward, just because. An E for effort too!

And just to prove that he has the luck of the bold, the Pakistanis arrest him, Ninja sword and all, then let him go! They could have trumped up charges and let him rot in prison for 30 years. The guy’s heart is in the exact right place and I for one definitely honor him. *uck jealousy. *uck envy. *uck sour grapes. *uck small minded judgments. He’s what being an American is all about!
