So What Did Glenn Think About His NY Times Cover Story?

We‘re not sure if this will cause the earth’s axis to shift, but Glenn Beck is on the cover of The New York Times Magazine. In it, we learn who Glenn’s demeanor “conjures”:
Beck has a square, boyish face, an alternately plagued and twinkle-eyed demeanor that conjures (when Beck is wearing glasses) the comedian Drew Carey. He is 6-foot-2, which is slightly jarring when you first meet him, because he is all head and doughiness on television; I never thought of Beck as big or small, just as someone who was suddenly ubiquitous and who talked a lot and said some really astonishing things, to a point where it made you wonder — constantly — whether he was being serious.
Drew Carey? Maybe it’s the libertarian thing. The article is long and informative. You can read the complete story here.
When Glenn talked about it on the radio this morning, he had not yet had time to read the entire report. Here’s his early take:

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 6:34pmAt the risk of being lambasted for being an illiterate fool, this is the FIRST – VERY FIRST – NYT article I have ever read all the way through (I live in the Midwest and 99.9999% of what they write does not apply to my life or my way of thinking about issues, so I often skim or – usually – entirely ignore them.)
This article is one, I read. Every single word. I llearned quite a bit about Glenn and about some @ FOX who might be teetering on egomania where he is concerned. That disappoints me.
Glenn has opened my eyes and my heart and taught me more than I learned about history in all of my years in the classroom…….his passion is beyond reproach; his research team and his own research – understandably – give everyone pause. Thus, I feel, their sense of jealousy.
What it took this guy 18 pages to say is “He’s the real deal. Buck up, buttercup! And keep an eye on him, because what he says is not only passionate, it’s also TRUE!” Sounds like he‘s just another ’convert‘ to Glenn’s wisdom. Keep up the hard work, Glenn…….we‘re counting on you in ways you can’t imagine! God bless you, your family and the many sacrifices you are making to inform and embolden us.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 6:30pmNeed to print this out and read it on my discretionary time. Glenn is so transparent in what he does, that at times I think he just might turn into the country’s “invisible man” who is so blended within the context of those who make up the ‘majority’ of this nation.

Good job Mr. Beck, if you really are everything they say about you, then you’re doing a great job. I’ve watched you now, and actually believed in your ‘Figure it out for yourself” mantra, and guess what? You make lots of sense, and I appreciate the supporty you give to me, as an American. Posted on September 29, 2010 at 6:23pmRead entire article. Not most flattering, but seems fair. I’ve been listening to Beck on radio for years—funny guy—kept me smiling during a very long recuperation. I used to catch him occasionally on cnn, but was really happy to have him come to fox—seems to let him be himself more. NYT article surprisingly even handed. As to the illiterate & toad comments, I read as much as I can whenever I can…so please no generalizations jerk (oops-broke my own admonition—look it up)

Second, in my humble opinion, Mr Beck could be several things to America. First, a modern day, Paul Revere. (Waking up and warning the people)
Thirdly, a modern day Moses. Leading the people once awakened, toward the obvious conclusion of where this so called transformation is leading. Ty too, Glenn Beck. You and your family as well as the republic are in our prayers

Let me start out by saying as far as what God has planned ofr Glenn Beck AI am sure it will be interesting. I think Glenn himself will doubt that he is on the same level as the founders. Might he be? That is going to be left to history.
I am far more concerned that the message get out than to praise the messenger. As much as I admire the messenger here, the message is what is important.
So may I entreat us to:
Pray with our families and by ourselves
Speak the truth regardless of the consequences
Know what you believe and then let that guide your actions
Mean what you say and say what you mean
God has the answer and if we seek them from Him so will we.
God is not done with freedom, He never was and never will be.
If we are to restore this grand experiment , to which the patriots before us gave life, we must be willing to pledge our lives our fortunes and our sacred honor.
The buck stops with us, Glenn picked up the buck and now it is my turn, then your turn, then everybody else’s turn
Thanks for letting me have my say.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 5:54pmThe article was interesting, but I think the reporter was trying to manufacture a controversy regarding Beck’s colleagues at Fox. I’m a huge fan but do wonder what the man is — just as as Chris Wallace asked him after 8/28. To me he is a question mark wrapped in an enigma. I also want to know why he did the interview. Posted on September 29, 2010 at 5:35pmI read through it this morning. Not bad considering what usually is said about Beck. I liked this line, “There is no template for him {Beck} or for where he is headed.” The problem is the reporter is clueless about what makes Beck tick on a fundamental level and paints him as a flawed and fragile soul, minus the depth of character and conviction his audience has seen him demonstrate. The result is Beck is shown as “on the edge” — which is liberal speak for “he’s dangerous.”
