So What Do the Occupy D.C. Protestors Really Want?

The Occupy Wall Street protest movement has spread across the country and has supporters worldwide, but its rank-and-file still seem to have trouble answering a simple question: What do you want?

Occupy Wall Street and its satellite protests around the country have the same hand signals, slogans, and General Assembly procedures. We know they claim to represent the “99 percent” and they believe “Banks got bailed out we got sold out.” But after that, the details get hazy.

Some conservatives have taken the logical next step and asked the Occupiers what they want the American people and our government to do about their grievances.

To get a sense of what at least one Occupy protest group thinks, some right-wingers infiltrated Occupy DC. The result was humorous and enlightening, though it didn’t seem to build any bridges.

The Media Research Center took a somewhat more straightforward, journalistic approach. MRC asked the protestors a set list of questions, and let them do almost all the talking.

Questions posed included: Do you Support single payer?  Should government mandate a livable wage? Should we have an open borders immigration policy? Should there be a 50% cut in military spending?

The military question provoked at least one memorable response: “If we are only going to use our military for military reasons… I would ask for 100 percent cut”

      Nothing! They need to move their protests in front of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac then. They should also go to Barney Frank and Chris Dodds house. The corruption is not located on Wall Street for the most part, it is within the Democrat party and policies. Did you ever wonder how a career politician like Biden who makes under $200.000 a year can afford to live in a 3 Million dollar house? How does Chris Dodd afford a cottage in Ireland and Dodd owned a condominium with Downe in the 1980s, while Downe was carrying on his illegal stock scheme. You want to talk corruption, look at the liberals. We won‘t even discuss Obama’s real estate deal.

    I just watched some smooth dude sitting on his porch being interviewed about how he thinks he should be allowed to stay in “his” house without making payments. Ok, I’m about fed up with this nonsense. We’ve paid on “our” house for 30 years. Money that could have been used for other things, but we used it to pay “our” debt. And now we are being asked to watch as others that did not apply themselves, squandered their money and lived beyond their means get a pass ?? I don’t think so!! Reminds me of how the people that worked to get their U.S.citizenship feel about the Illegal Aliens. Time for a course correction.

    When the 60′s Hippy ideology took hold of the teenagers of that generation, (of which I am too young to be included ), it seemed to destroy an entire generation. These are the parents of the children you see protesting now.

    My parents were immigrants into this country, and so I was taught just how awful living under a Communist regime could be. What these children of hippies are doing is the same mind games/denial that many European countries were doing to their kids in the 30‘s and 40’s. If Hitler were able to become alive again today, he’d feel he had another chance at power. These protesting idiots would give it to him, if they had their way.

      These smelly hippies want anything prefaced by the word “free”….free money, free education, free housing, etc…..They are the product of decades of organized brainwashing by their progressive masters and believe that a handout is owed to them, and is always better than having to actually work and earn anything.       I think thay are just up there making $18-$20 an hr. aren’t they?. These people are just having a good time hanging out..getting on the news and getting paid for it..and since Acorn, Sieu, subsidiaries Obama and Soros are behind it…i would bet it is our tax dollars at work.     Wow this is amazing. I believe that this is a good sampling of the democratic voters in this country. NONE of them had a clue what the Dod-Frank “reform” was and yet they are out there protesting our financial system. 3 years ago while Osama Obama was running to be POTUS I saw then generally what kind of man he was and is and what he would do to this country and how little for it. I was shocked how we were divided in half over him and that saddens me because I knew and this re-confirms it that far to many people did not then and still are not now using their heads and are about to help finish the job that progressives started over 60 years ago of turning a nation of KINGS into SLAVES one small or massive piece of legislation at a time.

    these protesters just simply don’t have a clue. i have never seen such abject ignorance and just plain old stupidity, in my 62 yrs. these idiots seem to think that us working people owe them something. the only people that i am in favor of helping, are the physically and mentally disabled, and those unemployed, who can prove that they are actively seeking work. all the rest of these lazy, worthless, don’t want to work bums, can go suck eggs. this idea that those of us who work, should provide for them is pure b.s. if i had my way, they would be cut off from all gov’t. funds. if they want to riot and loot and destroy others peoples property, then they can reap the consequences. put them in tents like the arizona sherriff and leave them there for a good long time. if anyone dies as a result of their actions, then the execution needle would be appropriate. these idiots have to learn that they have to conform to the law just like the rest of us. sooner or later we are going to have to deal with these slackers. i just hope that it doesn’t turn violent and people die. but i am very afraid that it will. all we can do is be ready to defend our families and homes if it commes to that. we can also pray that the LORD will protect us and our country…………………………………………

    To me, it seems these are the same people who, in grade school (and now college), were very impressionable and willing follow anything and anyone who seemed “cool”. There are a lot of them, they may get out of control, and are those acting as leader of the pack that need to be revealed as such. Keep waking up, follow the current events, polls, debates, rallies even watch Bill Maher and Jon Stewart as it is educational. When you compare logical reasoning between the different outlets, you will figure out which is best. It’s not hard. Demonstrate common sense, it works. May God Bless

    They want the government to spend more money on government funded programs, but they want a 100% cut in military!?!? Also, I love how the man with the Che shirt says that Cuba has better medicine than the United States. Cracks me up. If they can’t make a contribution to society than the government is supposed to support them??? So if they don’t pay taxes than the government will pay them? “The problem with illegal immigration is that it is illegal” It’s quite humorous listening to these nimrods, but they must be taken serious.

      I do wish one just one reporter would ask that question of them….How do the wealthy hurt you? What does the top 10% in net worth earners do to impact you NEGATIVELY? I would like to see what they would say if that reporter would just pose the statement to them that if they were worth a million dollars a year income then they would have it. I get paid what I am worth and what I agree to. If the pay is to low then I will find a better paying job. I will say this … I have NEVER been offered a job from ANYONE in the welfare line.

    Don’t care what they want. But I do know what they need: a foot to their backsides and a bar of soap. The only thing we as Americans are entitled to, aside from the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of this country, is to get off our asses and make something of our lives on our own. Aside from, we don’t think like the Jacksons (Jesse and his equally stuck on stupid son). Entitled to a damn Ipod and Ipad? I wasn’t raised to think like that! I was raised to work for the things I want in life. If I have the desire to go to college, the only thing stopping me from do so is ME! Not the Government, Not the rich man down the street.
