So What Fox Story Was the Secret Service Monitoring?

The internet was ablaze this evening with the embarrassing story of the Secret Service accidentally tweeting an anti-Fox News message characterizing the outlet’s coverage as “blathering.” The tweet, which was meant to be sent out on an employee’s personal account, said that the Secret Service had to “monitor Fox for a story.” That raises the question: What story?

Fox has a pretty good idea.

In a post about the incident on a Fox News blog, the outlet conjectures the Secret Service was looking to see how Fox covered the story of Vito LaPinta, the 13-year-old Tacoma, WA boy questioned by the Secret Service for posting a Facebook message about Obama (read that story here). This is what Fox had to say:

Shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Secret Service’s account declared on the social media site: “Had to monitor Fox for a story. Can’t. Deal. With. The. Blathering.”

The posting was quickly removed, but within a half-hour dozens of other Twitter users had already begun re-posting — or “re-Tweeting” — the message.

[...]

Earlier in the day, Fox News had been covering the story of Vito LaPinta, the 13-year-old from Tacoma, Wash., who was recently visited by a Secret Service agent for posting a message on Facebook suggesting President Obama should watch out for terrorist attacks in the wake of Usama bin Laden’s killing. LaPinta’s mother was not present when the Secret Service interviewed her son, a move she decried as inappropriate.

For the record, LaPinta’s story did get some coverage on TV, but not an inordinate amount. It only garnered one post on Foxnews.com that actually linked out to a local news report.

As a side note, the Secret Service did not respond to the local Fox station‘s request for comment regarding its handling of the young boy’s case. But, within only hours of the errant tweet, it did issue a statement announcing the Twitter message was an accident.

The obvious question now is: Will the Secret Service assign someone on Thursday to monitor Fox’s coverage of the flubbed monitoring?

I have a guess.

Desperate. So…how much does this cost and why in the hell is our dear leader so unbelievably paranoid and militant towards certain…well, typical white people. I believe I have heard, “he who is all knowing, most revered among Kenyans and Hawaiians, as well as Indonesians” say the same thing regarding his grannie. wow, from the DOJ on down these drones are relentless. “From now on we will only prosecute whites in order to balance out the prison population, or release thousands of inmates on to the streets unless the debt ceiling is, you know, ah…extended, raised, lifted, make it possibe to further enslave the populace”. “And in order to meet those needs, amnesty for all to punsh our enemies, because the police acted stupidly and I grew up in SEIU and because Iam the movement”

There’s a reason why in many uprisings, the police and the military are on opposite sides. One is usually with the government, the other with the people. Our military will still be for the people, but I think you’re right, the police will be for the government, because their union bosses will force them to be. There is no code of honor, or ethics like the military. No sense of protection of freedom, only laying in wait to revoke freedom from anyone and everyone they deem guilty of something.

We owned a dry cleaning shop over the hill in eastern wash. back in the late 50′s and did all the police uniforms and a cop told me then (IF I ONLY KNEW WHAT WENT ON WITH THE COPS AT YOUR DOOR, WHEN U CALLED FOR HELP AFTER HOURS, U WOUD CRAWL UNDER UR BED AND STAY UNTILL DAWN.!! ) So this has been coming for a very long time. Yet I had to think today about it a bit, what if, in their view, the kid had overheard a real threat to the POTUS or other leadership, and inadvertantly passed it on…they would feel the need to check into it just on the off chance, however unlikely it would be, that there was a real threat in the shadows to be taken down before it got any farther.

I posted a few things on Facebook hoping we would not see retaliations from the OBL killing. I don‘t know that the 13 year old’s worries aren’t warranted. Seems like common sense to me.

I just find it interesting that we couldn’t refer to a WAR on terror for almost 2 years but now that Obama killed Osama, we are back to calling it a war again. Obama’s tenses 40 minutes of his life…… that sickens me knowing what our soldiers are risking every day over there. All Obama was worried about was political fallout if it falled. It wasn‘t his butt on the line or his life on the line in that altercation or the 100’s that our soldiers see every day. I think that comment from the President showed a great deal of immaturity and showed how disconnected he is from our military men and women.

I can understand the Secret Service doing their job to protect the POTUS and family, along with the other govt leaders – they need to take almost any threat seriously; yet here, from a thirteen year old child, that sounds going overboard until you look at one part from their perspecitve…what if by chance this kid had overheard someone making such a comment, and it could lead to the breaking up of a true threat…before it could be carried out.

I have to cut the Secret Service protection detail a little slack, just a little, when you attempt to see it through their eyes in that regard.

Yet the post on Twitter to put is simply meant there is one on their team that has a major problem with containing their reactions, they are the true pro’s…they need to act like it.

George W. Bush speech after capture of Saddam:

The success of yesterday’s mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq. The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the dictator’s footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force. Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and so do the risks. Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of our Armed Forces and I congratulate ‘em.

Barack Obama speech after killing of bin Laden:

And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network. Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan .

I don’t think you guys realize what a dangerous tool Fox News is. The Secret Service was just monitoring how far the right-wing fear machine would take this story. It was complete BS for the SS to confront this obvious non-threat but it’s naive of Fox to be surprised that this is happening.

Of course their job is to monitor how news is reported–read the story about the Boston Herald? Expect this and much more exponentially as 2012 arrives. The advantage this man has this time is the full force of the federal government at his fingertips to intimidate and silence anyone who might get in his way of being re-elected.

I have worked intimately with the Secret Service on numerous occaisons…talk about scary, that is the most politically motivated agency in the federal government. They really aren’t all that concerned with doing what is right, only doing what is right for their pathetic careers. Pay for the bosses greens fees…you advance up the chain…buy the bosses breakfast…move up the chain…maybe to protection details…don’t play the game? End up investigating counterfeit money scams in Newark, NJ for the rest of your career.

I garantee that the only reason that boy was questioned was because some loser wanted to pocket a few brownie points, and of course…the employee that made that tweet posting did too…that was no mistake.

@banjarmon-EXCELLENT illustration of the contrast of the two CICs.i hope all blazers were able to view the link by azdebi regarding how this mission went down and who was ACTUALLY in charge.if you haven’t,don’t worry,it‘s gathering steam and is making it’s way around the internet.it’s a major game changer, assuming someone with a fair amount of horsepower has the courage to run with it.
@cheesewiz-another AWESOME contrast of two CICs.it’s no secret how the troops feel about their new boss, especially the ones that have to gear up EVERYDAY to go out and get shot at.

Once they kill it all together, unless of course you agree with the government morons, then they will be monitoring us all in public as well as in our homes. Reminds me of China and Hitler’s Germany. The wind of change is coming, all that is wrong will be considered righrt, and all that is right will be considered wrong.

Well I have news for you folks. The Brown Shirt Brigade is in full swing.Between the secret service, CIA, and TSA – there you have it. The TSA is being “muscle” of the group. THink about it, how else could you get an army of people to grope and sexually molest little girls, feel the genitalia of women – all with impunity on a daily basis?

“For the record, LaPinta’s story did get some coverage on TV, but not an inordinate amount.”
Shows how squishy Fox really is (they HIDE behind opinion shows which is why some major stories are not taken seriously), and why Soros will win, and shut them down.

The obvious question now is: Will the Secret Service assign someone on Thursday to monitor Fox’s coverage of the flubbed monitoring?
Fox will probably leave it up to the opinion shows to get the message out.

It seems Obama forgot theres no i in team.
The comparison of the 2 speeches speaks volumes of the integrity of Bush vs Obama.
Bush with all his flaws was America’s president and represented honor and freedom.
Obama represents corruption and hatred for American values and our way of life.
America deserves better than Obama, the Progressive media and groups bent on revolution.
Hopefully the conservatives will put forth a candidate who has the courage and will to stop these traitors and restore values, honor and common sense.

Sounds like the movie “DAVE”. Mmmmmmm……NO ONE can look or sound like the little guy in the WH. NO ONE. I sort of feel sorry for that little guy because HISTORY will show how very SMALL-MINDED Obama is and was and how evil and nasty he was while putting on a smile for the world to see. I sure hope Obama gets right with God soon. I believe God is really upset with Obama big time for doing what he is doing to HIS PEOPLE, ISRAEL AND TRUE CHRISTIANS (NOT MAKE-BELIEVE CHRISTIANS). It is very clear to me BIG-TIME that Obama has not read the book of Revelation where Israel and the REAL CHRISTIANS win in the end…..I love it when a plan comes together ;-))))

It think it’s high time we cut the budget for the SS. Clearly, they have too much money being given to them if they can afford to assign agents to interview concerned children and watch FoxNews all day, let alone while they’re surfing the net and tweeting, bitching about having to watch something without liberal bias.

@Theloneus: Yeah, wow! Fox News’ right wing fear machine really went off the deep end with this story. What with the one mention of it on FoxNews.com which linked to a local news story about it. That was an incredible over-reaction by Fox News to a story about the Secret Service violating the rights of a minor without his parent being present, and for what? A facebook post that even an illiterate can see is entirely innocuous. Darn those guys and gals at Fox for making mention of this story. We should completely strip them of their First Amendment rights. Everyone knows that only CNN and MSNBC can report the “true” news. All the news that Obama wants you to hear and none that he doesn’t!

To be honest, I thought the same thing as the kid did. I wasn’t necessarily scared for our troops. If the terrorists wanted revenge, they’d target Obama, Bush or Clinton… as they were the ones involved with the hunt for Osama. Yea… I completely agree with the kid, Obama needs to be careful… as much as I dislike him, it’d be devastating to our country should a successful attack happen on him or any of his predecessors.
