Socialists Hijack Mubarak Resignation for Their Cause: ‘A Revolution From Below’

The socialists are celebrating.

One such group, ANSWER, issued a statement Friday in response to the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Not surprisingly, the organization’s statement gave Van Jones-style praise to the “revolution from below.”

See our previous report on ANSWER.

The statement, which includes three parts, decried American “imperialism,“ praised the ”youth-led uprising,” and continued the group’s assault on Israeli, or as it calls the country, the “Zionist regime.” Highlights of the remarks are below (all emphasis added).

It starts:

The Egyptian people have done it. A revolution from below, developed without a fully prepared plan and without a formal leadership, has succeeded in forcing the ouster of Mubarak. Even though it was a genuinely spontaneous uprising, the people developed leadership and organization in the course of the struggle itself. This great uprising by the people of Egypt has shaken the existing global order of imperialism. After all of their sacrifice, millions of Egyptians today are celebrating. All great revolutions become a festival of those who have endured oppression. Each participant knows that the revolution is the deepest expression of the power of the people.

Just like President Obama this week, the group also praised the youth for their role in the ousting:

The steadfast determination of the youth-led uprising coupled with the dramatic entrance of the Egyptian working class into the mass movement radically changed the relationship of forces.

ANSWER noticed Obama’s youth-praise:

Having armed and financed the Mubarak dictatorship’s 30-year-long war against the Egyptian people, the U.S. government abruptly shifted its position in a last-minute effort to prevent U.S. imperialist interests in Egypt going down with Mubarak’s doomed ship. As the regime seemed to be crumbling in the face of the uprising and the mass strike wave, Obama appeared on national television yesterday to announce that the U.S. government saluted the youth-led uprising.

The group goes on to blast the U.S.:

For now, the Egyptian military has assumed the power in Egypt. This is the preferred plan of the U.S. government. The continued presence of Mubarak was accelerating the militancy and radicalism of the uprising. Suddenly, as a consequence of the entrance of the people in a genuine uprising, Mubarak turned into a liability rather than a valued asset. The main goal of the U.S. government now will be to find a way to sustain the authority of the Egyptian military high command, which has functioned as a client for the past 30 years. [...] A great victory has been secured. But the institutions of the dictatorship remain and behind them stand the Pentagon and the CIA. Undoubtedly, a new stage in the struggle will quickly unfold. The opening of political space for revolutionary and working-class forces to organize is of monumental importance.

And Israel:

The Israeli Zionist regime is deeply alarmed by the prospect of the end of the dictatorship. Although the Israeli regime pretends to be the great champion of “democracy,” the reality is that it fears the development of a genuine people’s government in Egypt, the largest Arab country that possesses the largest army in the Arab World. The 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty, which followed the Camp David Summit Accord, is in fact a complete misnomer. The treaty gave the Israeli military a green light to wage war against other Arab peoples free from the threat of interference from the Egyptian military. In fact, this treaty sidelined the largest Arab army from engaging in any opposition to Israeli war plans against Lebanon, Syria, other Arab countries and especially the besieged Palestinian people. In exchange for the agreement, the United States provides nearly $2 billion to Egypt—most of it military aid—each year.

In the end, the group is sure to spin the Egyptian revolt as a class struggle:

The young people of Egypt and the mass of the working class have, through their own efforts, changed the political equation. All revolutions reveal as a dominant and characteristic feature the extraordinary intervention of the masses of people into the historical process. In normal times, it is politicians, heads of state, military leaders, the media, religious figures—all the representatives of the old order—who conduct the business of society, while the masses of people are excluded from the political arena. By their direct intervention in the historical process through the medium of revolution, however, the people create the foundation for a new social and political regime.

    no peoples will continue on a road the ends in ruin for the vast majority as the chosen few on top feed them dreams of entering too if they just can defeat them as they defeated them. lol. It just will never work and is unjust. So, socialism with controlled reward for effort and true merrit is the only way. Since those on top always judge those below worth so much less then the bottom judges them back to be worthless too as is only just. So that society collapses in destruction under guises of religious or facist fighting, terrorism etc.. when it’s the same old story from the pyramids days

    They keep talking that what just happened in Egypt, was all about getting ready to attack Israel. Lets wait and see.     The United States of America is the only TRUE peoples Government. The Socialist/Communist talk about their “PEOPLES” Governments but from what we have seen throughout history is Oppression. I keep hearing the leaders of these groups talking about the youth. I seems to me they are using the ignorance of young adults to perpetuate their Revolution. I hope the Socialist/Communist are prepared for a fight here stateside. The Constitution/Republic loving true Americans wont sit back and let their country be STOLEN from them by a bunch of armchair quarterbacks. A catchy slogan is no match for an AR-15.

      “The youth” have always been used by despots to achieve their aims. They appeal to the enthusiasm of the the young and their desire to give the finger to their elders. Hitler formed the “Hitler’s Youth” and used them to inform on their friends and relatives. In China, the “Red Guard” consisting of teenagers, was given guns and told to kill lawyers, teachers and other educated people. When this was done, the “useful idiots” of the Red Guard were themselves killed off, because they were not to be trusted with weapons.
      Obama is forming a National Civilian Service Corps, “as large and well funded as the army”. For what purpose? Watch our backs and keep our powder dry.

    I think this wasn’t a Socialist intended revolution. In other words, I do not think Socialists are responsible for the uprising. But since the protesters and going against a US-supported dictator, they feel that Socialism is the opposite of the U.S. (which it is, seeing as though none of Obama’s laws have come into existence yet).

    As for the Muslim Brotherhood, they might dislike the US, but they will help Egypt if they come into power. For example, Hamas is considered a terrorist organization, yet in the Gaza strip and Palestine, they build hospitals, schools, places of worship, and libraries not only for men, but women and children too. They have donated so much to healthcare in the Gaza strip that it now costs almost nothing for a Palestinian to get healthcare in Gaza. This is helping the people. I am glad that the people whom are suffering because of US and Israeli ignorance of the poor are being helped. Nobody here can complain since none of you have done anything about it. How is commenting on a website going to help other people understand who you are all over the world? It won’t.

    I think many here are jealous that the Egyptians did not mention “Tea Party” rhetoric on the matter, because in reality Tea Partyism isn’t anti-government. The private corporations are what Mubarak stood for, and now the Egyptians are rebelling against them. I am happy for them :)

    I’m still having trouble with the “global order of imperialism” label they keep using. Who, in this world, is actually attempting to rule other countries? Has imperialism taken on a new definition for them? It sounds like Marxist professors have indoctrinated some privileged children and thwarted their ability to achieve maturity.
    So, rather than supporting the Egyptians fight for freedom, the PLS wants them to fall into the oppression of a Caliphate or Socialism. How very thoughtful of them.
    Oh…and by the way….kill all the Jews in the process. Yeah, very compassionate. It’s kind of an anti-human compassion though.

      Yeah there is a new Imperialism as defined by Barak Hussein Obama, it is “Financial Imperialism” and the US is at the head of it. By being the leading Economy we are oppressing the whole world in our thirst for energy and profits.

      What has happened is that we no longer have physical control of countries, it is now done with money and resources. It is why this president wants to redistribute America’s wealth to the third world. He considers Americas Economy like the Robber Barons of old and we should pay the rest of the world back for what we “Stole”.

      its not like the “old imperialism” of the british empire. It is a domination of markets and political life without the use of the military.

      read “Imperialism: The highest Stage of Capitalism” it is a short read but all of you anti-communists havent actually read anything by a communist yet you deride it as evil and nonsensical.

      it is actually a very logical process that led to the conclusion that monopoly capitalism/finance capitalism would be the “highest stage” of capitalism.

      and this was written before 1920!

      Glenn Beck even pointed out that the US does infact get in bed with dictators for its own interests. Much of this comes with US money being pumped into the subject economies, and US financial institutions investing in capital in those countries. All for geo-strategic control.

    The President of Egypt is only a faceman for the Army, All the pondering about who the army will support or who will be in control after Mubarak leaves was out of sync with reality.
    Whoever is elected President or makes up the Egyptian government will do as the Army commands
    It’s not much different in Iran where Ahmedinejad is just the faceman for the true rulers who hold the power.
    It’s set up like that so the controlling powers are never targeted by revolution just the person they hold up as symbol.
    Nothing in Egypt has changed and it won’t . Unlike nations with peace loving neighbors , the Middle eastern countries can not risk an actual democratically principled leadership.

      We didn’t fit into his plans.

      Obama ignored Iranian protesters who were subsequently crushed and killed. It didn’t fit into his plans as Iran is already radicalized.

      Obama involved himself in Egypt because it fits in with his plans to radicalize Egypt.

      The spread of radicals will destroy the EU. All part of a NWO plan.

I suspect that the progressive/marxists, in this case at least, will be surprised when the TRUE leaders of the revolt, the Mooslimb Brotherhood, take these “fellow travelers” and chuck them out the window and declare them a part of the problem too! This isn’t “business as usual” for the progressive/marxists because they are now dealing with religious fanatics who are singleminded in their intent.       A Google executive was in Egypt, helping to forment the uprising. Google and Facebook are both working with Obama. A Facebook executive orchestrated Obama’s presidential campaign. Over half a dozen Google executives are now on Obama’s administration. Use of the Internet got Obama elected, and use of it got the Egyptian president kicked out of office. Obama is now claiming credit for his part in the success of the people’s revolt. We must be extremely careful in considering how this all came about. Is the fall of Mubarak part of a larger plan to establish a new world order? After all, this has been discussed at the highest levels of governments and in the UN.
      Keep your eyes wide open, listen, and keep your powder dry.

I was amazed to hear a gay female standing up for the Muslim Brotherhood. The spiritual leader of the MB has said gays and lesbians should be thrown off a tall building or perhaps burned to death.
