This woman could have lost 150 pounds in 18 months with a good diet and low impact exercise, instead she is willing to wait 10 years for the government to do it for her. She would have been better off on THE BIGGEST LOSER.

I don’t know where the proponents of this type of system come from. I don’t think any of them go to the DMV or have to wait in line at a big city hall. It’s all about hurry up and wait.

If weight control was important for this ladies health, you would think the wait time would be really short but as you can tell it is and always will be about controlling cost of medicine and for some reason our government thinks they can control that a lot better.

    Pleeeeaaassssseeee!!!!

    THIS is very illuminating.
Through the whole HealthCare Debate, Rosie and ALL of the Liberal/Progressives were just like an excited teenager who was about to buy his first car. They were so THRILLED about the prospect of forcing their wonderful utopian plan on us to show us how much superior the Progressive Mind is to all of the rest of us that they absolutely WOULD NOT hear one word of caution nor countenance even ONE logical objection to their leadership’s monstrosity of government taking over our lives for our own good.

There was nothing any of us could say to break their FAITH in the good intentions of their elite leaders. Their moment had arrived and by GOD none of us were gonna mess it up for ‘em with any pesky FACTS.

Well, now just like the teenager who would not listen to any critiques about the mileage on the vehicle, or the service history, or the gas mileage being beyond what their meager income would cover and still have enough for insurance……. NOW that we have bought the damned thing and the excitement has worn off they can begin to see what you / we were trying to explain this whole time.

“Oh, so the Canadian system isn’t a perfect paradise on earth? You mean you actually have to wait and wait and wait? So if we take away the ability of someone to make a good living in the Medical Field the intelligent people will opt to do something else?”

But of course they WILL NOT arrive at the logical conclusion of this thought exercise… vis-a-vis WE PROGRESSIVES HAVE ONCE AGAIN ROYALLY SCREWED UP! No no no….. that would be expecting too much pride swallowing and ego bruising humility from our superior progressive betters.

No the conclusion will be more like “AH – HA, I knew it, people are more screwed up by greed than we suspected! We need another government program to deal with this imperfection in our midst. And we better get to the kids in school to prevent them from developing this warped thinking of looking out for their own self-interests ahead of the good of the collective.”

Rosie et. al. I have pitty on your poor souls. What a reduced and colorless world you have been imprisoned in.

I’m an American, married to a Canadian. When I talk to his family members about their healthcare it is frightening. 6 months to have Gallbladder surgery, (I had mine out next day after an attack). 9 hour wait in the emergency room, the nurses come out to the lobby take your blood pressure!! My brother in-law was on the stretcher getting ready to in for brain surgery, and the doctor’s went on strike. You want a TV in your room in the hospital, you have to rent one at a cost. But, for them it is just the way it is, and they know nothing else. I can’t seem to get it through my friends heads that this is NOT a better option from what we have. Not everyone has great health care here, but the majority does… no one in Canada has great health care. It might be ‘free’ (of course they are taxed about 16% on everything they buy)… but you know the saying… “you get what you pay for”

God helps us if they take over healthcare. Imagine they do.

    1) They have to pay for everybodies health issues (cancers, abortions, STD, consequences of obesity, alcohol, drugs, smoking, overeating, psychiatric illnesses, EVERYTHING).
    2) They want to cover illegal immigrants.
    3) If the government pays for ALL THAT, taxes cannot remain as they are. They must increase taxes to generate revenues. A tax rate of 90% may not be enough to cover it all.
    4) As the tax rates increase and people are less motivated to work to give away their earnings, healthcare will have to be cut back due to less revenues and continued costs.
    5) Less revenues and costly care is offset with DEATH PANELS. Sounds terrible, but essentially this is when the obama and nancy and their minions say:

Cancer? How advanced —> No cancer care for you. Procede to Death Counseling.
Kidney disease? What dialysis? Too much —–> No kidney healthcare for you. Do like the cancer guy.
Disabilities (most of them that cost the government) —–> No healthcare for you.
How old are you? What? 80? ——> Death counseling, your drugs cost too much.

They love to scare granny by lying about Republicans doings when in fact, democrats have proposed the eventuality of organized death panels and older adults are in for it. It’s too bad seniors continue to vote for dems.

All need to understand that the government pays for nothing. Taxpayers pay for EVERYTHING.

We already pay for numbers 1 and 2. The costs incurred by health care providers, emergency rooms, and public health clinics are passed on to all citizens who pay taxes, or their employers, in the form of higher taxes and higher insurance premiums. They might increase a little more if Obamacare goes through because it’s being called “free” so some people who currently are not seeking services might under the new plan.

In my opinion, the part that is really going to suck, and really going to drive the costs through the roof is the massive bureaucracy that will undoubtly grow up over the next few decades. Just look at any other agency that started in the last, let’s say, 30 years. It starts out relatively small, and sometimes they have even been created for a seemingly good purpose. Take the EPA. Who doesn’t want clean air and water? But then look at it 30 years later. It‘s a massive bureaucracy that just continues to multiply itself and the effectiveness of it’s programs are, at best, marginal. EPA is still a pretty small agency in the grand scheme and look at the havoc it creates. Go to YouTube and search Bobby Jindal and Oil Spill. I‘m sure you’ll find quite a few videos. One of the biggest impediments to protecting Louisiana’s coast was….that’s right, the EPA. There was so much red tape that took so much time to wade through it was ridiculous. Jindal was one of the few who stood up to them and spoke out.

Imagine the size of the bureaucracy that will control 1/6th of our entire economy! The agency will be bigger than economy of most countries in the world. And that will be just to start, what is it going to look like in 30 years?? It’s impossible to tell, but I promise you it won’t be smaller.

I think we do need a reforming of health insurance, medical delivery, drug approval, and many other facets of the health care industry. But, not by the government. If we involve the government at all it should be to privatize Medicare and Medicaid and remove the government completely from the process.

I like the part where “Rosie” says:

“Now, if you called and were persistent”….

THAT(!)…. is so… typical of an Elitist Liberal. She thinks that SHE is the most important thing in line and if she can just rag hard enough, she’ll be able to bluster and bluff her way to the head of the line. No need to wait in a line… no need to consider the others that have also been waiting in line… no need to concern herself with the position of the people administering the care…

SHE… is the Queen and MUST BE CATERED TO BY GOD!!!…

That is WHY many, many, many… Liberals support the Socialized Medicine. They really think they’re going to be able to continue to bluster their way through and that they are going to get the same service they received before, except now… it’ll be free!

I see it all the time, OBAMA bumper stickers blazing away, they park RIGHT in the loading zone, they double park, they take the closest place next to the entry door instead of pulling up so at least one other car pull in behind. ALL THE TIME!

You can tell them there are going to be really long lines and people are going to die trying to get service,…. But they don’t believe that… NOT…. that it’s not going to be true of course, they KNOW the lines are going to be long… they just don’t think THEY…. are going to have to wait in them, they’re going to blow right through them like they do now.

IF ONLY I COULD SEE ROSIE’S FAT FACE trying to bluff her way through with bribes and threats when she tries to get seen ahead of everyone else… PLEASE SOMEONE FILM HER WHEN SHE SHOWS UP…. PLEASE!!!!!

You know what she’s going to do????? She’s going to go buy a 1st Class ticket to Japan and she’s going to use all that money to get what she wants and you can rot for all she cares, as long as she doesn’t have to admit how TOTALLY WRONG they all were.

I can hear the excuses now…. “this isn’t what we were told it would be…”’ pffft…..

I worked in hospitals near the border and I can tell you it happens all the time .. unfortunately many can not afford to do it. When we get socialized medicine where will the Canadians go?

My sister-in-law is aboriginal Canadian and has a number of family members that struggle with severe obesity. Her uncle died from complications of diabetes, so when his son got to the point where his diabetes was out of control, kidneys were starting to shut down, etc. the doctor told him he would need gastric bypass or he would be dead in short order. That said, they put him on the waiting list for the surgery and told him it would be in excess of three years. He came down to Wayne State University Medical Center here in Detroit and was told he could have it within a month or so. He has since lost the weight and returned to being a healthy young man. Who knows what would have happened if he hadn’t been able to do that….

Exactly! Healthcare up here isn’t free. We’re always paying for it with our taxes plus we get to wait forever for “elective” procedures that will improve quality of life. But if there’s any chance you might die (e.g. sleep apnea) and therefore wouldn’t be able to pay more taxes, of all kinds…step right up, everything paid for and treatment quite fast. Chronic problems are considered “elective” and you wait because if it hasn‘t killed you yet it likely won’t anytime soon. Acute problems, especially anything life-threatening, pretty good care.

Waiting loists for anything are routinely over 5 months often times over a year just for an appointment (for something serious). My pain clinic for insatnbce will see new patients after they’vew waited a while year…now if you are in chronic pain is waiting more than 12 months for some help a decent system or a joke ? 10 years ago the wait time for such services was less than 2 weeks…the system is falling apart with very few new Dr’s opting to saty here after graduation. The reality is the medical syustem in Canada is crumbling because of the Universal model….it needs to be radically reformed or healthcare for all will be a pipe dream for those with connections only, while the rest of us que up in a line a mile long just to see a GP for a chest infection. It can’t keep going like this and call itself a service to be proud of….outlying areas now have no Dr‘s at all with entrie counties served by 1 or 2 Dr’s (or none at all). It’s a huge problem here…the US if it allows the Universal single payer system to take hold will suffer the same fate as Canada has…at first the service will be half decent until demand vastly outstrips supply and cost goes unchecked (due to Govcernmnet overregulation).

This is not just with regard to “elective” surgery. There are priority lists for EVERYTHING, it seems. My mother and father-in-law waited several years without a family doctor because they are elderly and were smokers. When a new doctor would come to town, they had the townspeople who wanted a doctor fill out an application. Those selected for further thought were then interviewed. The doctors didn’t want the people that might cost them time and effort.

Currently, my father-in-law is waiting for his turn at radiation therapy for the stage 3 lung cancer that it took six months to diagnose. Most of the time elapsed was spent waiting to make it to the top of the list for the test. The PET scan that he needed took a very long time because of his age and lack of priority.

This doesn’t just happen with the elderly. One of my best friends called me one day and told me (during the health care debate last year) that she would volunteer to make commercials warning people about the Canadian Health Care System. She had just spent six months waiting for a gynecology appointment after being diagnosed with a prolapsed uterus in the emergency room. She said that she could feel “something” hanging out of her and was in a terrible amount of pain, but she was told that there was a waiting list of prolapses and that hers wasn’t the worst out there. Their advice was to do something like Kegel exercises to keep it from falling out all the way. When she finally saw the gynecologist, it turned out it wasn’t a prolapse at all, but a tumor in her uterus. The pain stemmed from the fact that her uterus was contracting trying to expel it and couldn’t because it was still attached. She did get her surgery to remove it the next day though!!!

Little things that we take for granted are just not part of the health care system. I have had two family members go to Canadian hospitals with broken appendages, only to be told that the radiologist went off duty at 5, and could they return the next morning? My brother’s finger was so mangled that he got in the car, drove to Detroit, and had it surgically repaired there (he is an American who just vacations in Canada).

The most ironic thing I find is that whenever I have had to take my children for care in Canada, the first thing they do is make you pay BEFORE they give you care if you don’t have an OHIP card. My son was unconscious, vomiting relentlessly, and so dehydrated that his skin was staying pinched in little folds and no one would even look us in the eye until the VISA rang through. Our friend’s brother had his leg broken in several places and needed emergency surgery in Quebec and they would not care for him in any way until they wired $10,000 to them. Why don’t we take THAT part of the Canadian health care system and apply it to all the illegals who show up to give birth in our border hospitals?

Not to worry, she will look to the NYC sanitation department for guidance. After all, they did extended research during the recent massive NYC snow storm. They learned that human urination would indeed remove [by melting] snow if its alcohol content exceeded legal limits but blade lifted snow plows driven by drunk operators would not.

So NYC, buy your bear early because Rosie will be demanding your sanitation department buy beer by the truck load for the drivers and supervisors rather than fuel for the plows.

You‘ll note the surprise in Rose’s response about the seven years. I guess she never understood this is an elective surgical procedure, this is the same line as having Rose saying to her guess “well I don’t see the fairness in the system not providing you with breast enlargement, this is a given right by our constitution”. She is clueless, just like the press saying how great Cuba and all other universal health care systems are compared to us, let her go on a waiting list. Being Canadian myself, This is true. What they didn’t tell you is if it is a major emergency surgery, such as cancer/tumor removal it comes down to 4 months typically, before you see a surgeon. Sucks if they only give you 6 months to live if you don’t get that surgery. And ya that’s exactly what happened to my mother. So you ask yourself is universal health-care really what the U.S needs??

I did not hear it that way. Basically elective surgery foe fat people you must wait. Big Deal. Maybe if so many fat people in the USA stopped using their health insurance for stomach stapling our premiums would not be so high. How about just dieting and exercise. What is wrong with that. I don’t think insurance should cover stomach stapling, botox, etc. What is the big deal! Glen you are too obsesses with Canada’s healthcare. Time to worry about our’s and how to bring down costs. Griping about the Canadian system will not fix our’s.

I didn’t hear her have an epiphany. She may have come close but then used the excuse “Oh that‘s because it’s an elective surgery” Guarantee here in America, as it stands, you can get an emergency surgery significantly faster than in countries with socialized medicine.

What a name to give such a foul mouth fat cow!
Maybe her mothering of a child has given her “some” common sense?

Well, that was quite a reality check.

Actually, I was surprised that Rosie actually LISTENED to what the caller had to say and didn’t argue with her. Rosie’s questions were for clarification.

It’s also interesting as to what is considered “elective surgery”. One thing that the caller said was that she HAD NOT SEEN THE SPECIALIST YET. That actually means, she hasn’t been evaluated as to whether or not she can be a surgical candidate. The other question is whether or not her obesity is actually a result of overeating or – as in the case of one woman, when she was actually on the operating table, the surgeons found a massive benign tumor that was causing the problem. Surprise, surprise, surprise.

Any doctor will tell you that the longer a medical problem exists, the more complicated it becomes. This woman has obviously wanted to have her stomach reduced for seven years and will most like have to wait another 2-3 years before her name comes to the front of the list. That’s ten years of additional health problems, joint problems, circulatory problems, coronary problems. She could get to the top of the list only to be told “Sorry, you have diabetes, high blood pressure and poor circulation. You’re not a candidate for surgery. Uhm, next.”
