Soros-Funded Group Pressures Christian Stations to ‘Give Up Glenn Beck for Lent’

Some Christians choose to give up candy, soda or coffee for Lent, the period of personal sacrifice in honor of Christ leading up to Easter Sunday. But a liberal online activist group is encouraging two New York Christian radio stations to go further, calling on them to “give up Glenn Beck for Lent.”
Faithful America, a group claiming to be made up of “tens of thousands of citizens motivated by faith,” is pressing Christian broadcast group Salem Communications-owned WMCA-AM and WNYM-AM to drop Beck’s daily radio program from their line-up.
According to the group’s website, their mission is two-fold: “restore community and uphold the common good in America and across the globe.” In service to these commitments, the group says it works to:
* end poverty and promote economic security for all
* promote peace and restore America’s commitment to human rights and diplomacy
* prevent the catastrophic effects of climate change
* counter hate speech and misinformation in the media pertaining to people of faith
* work for welcoming communities where immigrants and people of all faiths are welcome
The group credits Res Publica and True Majority for helping establish itself as a “religious version of MoveOn.org.” Res Publica is a progressive organization largely funded by George Soros’ Open Society Institute and boast board members such as John Podesta of the Center for American Progress and Eli Pariser, executive director of MoveOn. In 2008, Soros’ Open Society Institute awarded two $400,000 grants to Faithful America.
Working with other like-minded organizations, FA currently lists its partners as Jim Wallis’ Sojourners, Vote the Common Good, The Jewish Council For Public Affairs, the Muslim Public Affairs Council and the National Council of Churches in Christ (NCCC). It has also collaborated in the past with Res Publica and Avaaz.org, a kind of global MoveOn.org.
Aside from being obviously ideologically opposed to Beck, why does FA demand he be removed from the airwavews?
“Beck’s caustic remarks, fear-mongering and bigotry have led to a national backlash,” Faithful America asserts in a statement, claiming to have already collected 20,000 anti-Beck petition signatures.
Beck’s comments linking so-called “social justice” and socialism are not new nor unique. In 2008, famed megachurch pastor and author Rick Warren has called the collectivist social gospel “Marxism in Christian clothing.”
Nevertheless, FA and its liberal allies insist Beck has got to go. “The pressure on Beck and his sponsors is building. And the bottom line is no responsible person or company should support programming that promotes menacing conspiracy theories and tells listeners to flee from churches that talk about social justice,” FA says. “This should go double for a company claiming to represent Christian values.”
“We invite WMCA-AM and WNYM-AM to use this Lenten period to reflect on their Christian values and make a commitment not to pick up Glenn Beck,” FA concludes, “during the next 40 days or any time after.”

I went to their website and found that…Faithful America was previously hosted by the National Council of Churches of Christ (NCCC). In Texas, there are large numbers of those churches, so it is not some no name non-denominational group with few members. Think groups like these are very dangerous to the people they suck in…..lots and lots of things are done in the name of religion!!

I was so happy to find someone in the media that wasn’t afraid to speak the truth. I don’t always agree with everything Beck says but I felt like I was the only one who saw what was going on.

Posted on March 12, 2011 at 3:52pmSoros knows nothing about Christianity or the Salem stations. “Giving something for Lent” is a traditionally Roman Catholic practice. While some members of other Christian churches might participate, it isn’t typical nor expected of protestants. Salem broadcasts mostly protestant/evangelical programming and I suspect their listeners are overwhelmingly non-Catholic. Perhaps Soros should contact some Catholic bishops and tell them to order their parishioners to give up Beck for Lent, because most listeners of Salem stations would only respond, “Huh? Give up a radio show?”

Beck has to be close to something Soros has his hands deeply into now; that is usually when the Spooky Dude himself goes on such offensives, is when he wants his plans hidden and they are about to come out into the light.

The plain truth is WE are NOT created Equal.. some are born with defects, handicaps, less aptitude to learn, less creativity, less drive and ambition, and some with more desire to be a Victim and e;pendent on others to work hard and to produce the next technological advancement that will further ease their lives. So this Euptopian notion that ALL should have equal Pay, eqaul status and opportunity is a Load of BS!! This mindset has been the destruction of many societies in world history, and the direct cause of death of MILLions of people who had the unfortunate random birth within governments that oppressed them. The bottom line is, Poverty cannot be elimintaed its a part of life. What can happen though, is through personal drive and hard work, motivation to NOT BE POOR, theastructure that was deveolped by the founders of America, provided the freedoms to determine your own financial status/fate– Priveate property, keep what you make and faith in God and fellow man to NOT impede your success, Thats how you erradicate poverty, one person at a time. Educate, Motivate and CREATE your own wealth.

Establishing all these front groups to create the perception that there is a lot of opposition. The intensity of the attacks is a reflection of their fear level; they’ve been exposed, so they’re engaging in a scorched earth policy to take the spotlight off their subversive activities within the church. I believe there are many more of us than there are of them; we just need to stay vigilent and engaged and continue to peacefully take our stand.

Beck’s research and honest reporting to “We The People” has been a blessing. The only ones that don’t like it are the ones that have been busted by Beck and his crack team of researchers. I have my own personal rule of thumb on the attacks coming from the left… “If a particular group is screaming louder than others, then that’s the one group we need to keep a close eye on”.

Actually, I think that Beck is a burr ON Soros’s saddle, Obama’s saddle, Pelosi’s saddle, Reid’s saddle, F.F. Piven’s saddle, SEIU’s saddle, SDS’s saddle, and Chris Tingle’s saddle, to name just a few!
It’s really difficult to keep us in the dark when Beck has an industrial-strength generator keeping the lights on for us. The LEAST we can do is WATCH GLENN BECK!

Since it is most of their priests that follow this belief, makes you wonder if Christ is really preached in those grand edifices they build for a declining membership. Since Socialism eats its host and the Catholic Church is now its host. Pope John Paul II from Poland would and is probably really pissed that this is going on in the Church. We always gave up something we could take back as a celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Would the above fit the celebrating heart, at the end of lent?

Its only after a barrage of threats orchastrated by Soros and company. And even then he still out pace every liberal talker out there. Secondly, the million he may have lost are only the folks who didn’t like Beck anyway. All Soros has done is stop those folks from tuning in. Real Beck fans are still with him. Both times he admitted to the mistake, apologized, and gave the correct info. As smart as Soros thinks he is, you would figure he would know that these attacks on Beck just expose him more than ever. Americans are not all as blind, and stupid as he thinks we are. All of them think this way, and they will only learn their mistake when it’s to late.
