Soros’ Media Matters Attacks Conservative Muslim Activist

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., will hold his much-anticipated hearing on “The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community’s Response” next week.

One panelist who plans to testify at the hearing is Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a former Navy Lieutenant Commander and founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, a non-profit organization whose missions is to promote Islam’s compatibility with democracy and American values, including freedom of religion, freedom of speech and gender equality.

Soros Media Matters Attacks Conservative Muslim Activist

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser

In addition, the AIFD opposes political Islam and supports Israel, saying “we feel it is necessary to make a foundational position statement regarding the state of Israel. We stand in support of the existing unqualified recognition of the state of Israel behind internationally recognized borders.” The group also supports the creation of an independent Palestine, saying “we also separately stand in recognition of the need for the completion of the formation of an independent Palestinian state on the current ”occupied territories” living side by side next to the established state of Israel.”

In advance of his testimony, George Soros-funded Media Matters has attacked Jasser as a “conspiracy-touting credential-free star witness” of King’s upcoming hearing, dismissing him as a “physician and former U.S. Navy medical officer with no background in law enforcement or public policy.”

“What Jasser lacks in expertise, he makes up for in ties to right-wing media figures, appearances in documentaries that have been rejected by PBS and the New York Police Department, and a willingness to call Muslim civil rights groups with which he disagrees ‘fronts’ for the Muslim Brotherhood,” Media Matters writes.

As conservative blogger Dan Riehl notes, having an expertise in a particular policy area is often not a requisite for providing testimony before Congress:

What Jasser is, is engaged, active and interested in calling out fellow Muslims perceived as not having America’s best interests at heart. We know this from simply observing the behavior of organizations such as CAIR, and others. Though often subtle, what those groups do is trumpet a Muslim identity politics, or Islam, over an American identity and straight-forward dedication to American exceptionalism and our Constitution. Jasser offers a competing view. For that and that alone, the Left now seeks to silence him. …

If one wants absolute proof that MMFA’s attack on Jasser is utterly ridiculous, one need look no further than the case of Cindy Sheenhan. Not only did the Left do everything it could to make her a media star, there were never any complaints from Media Matters when she was called to testify before Congress. If the knock on Dr. Jasser is that he has no background in law enforcement or public policy, what was Sheehan’s background in military strategy, international relations, or public policy that qualified her to offer testimony? The answer is none, of course. The only difference is that Sheehan agreed with the Left and the likes of Media Matters. …

Aside from Sheehan, did Media Matters ever question Democrats’ invitation to have comedian Stephen Colbert testify on farm subsidies, or actor Ben Affleck’s apparent expertise on the Congo?

Kevin Costner has weighed in on how best to clean up the Gulf oil spill and Sheryl Crow has testified in support of copyright laws.

Nicole Kidman told members of Congress that domestic violence is bad (duh) and one of the Jonas brothers testified to get more funding for diabetes research.

The only “expertise” these individuals have is being public celebrities used to the limelight whose names draw media attention.

“All [Media Matters] demonstrates with their unfounded attack on Jasser is their typical jackbooted approach to silencing all dissent,” Riehl concludes.  “Disagree with them and you are ripe for smearing, undermining and running into the ground if they can.”

Jasser is well-read, well-researched and is a leading figure in his field of expertise.  And if all that weren’t enough to justify his congressional testimony for Media Matters, Jasser recently revealed to the Washington Post his most notable qualification: “A lifetime of practicing my faith.”

Having seen and heard Dr. Jasser myself, if there is such a thing as a peaceful Muslim, he is it. I am not sure how he reconciles the differences with his views and those of the Koran, but if anyone can, he can. He speaks openly and never hesitates when answering. I think he is the only Muslim Glenn really seems to trust but I don’t speak for Glenn.

Glenn, if he really understood the enormity in both space and time of the enemy he confronts, would not invite the counsel of a Muslim.

Sorry. But it appears almost none of you recognize the civilization penalty for inviting Islam into your culture.

The enemies of this country are growing stronger by the day and our dear leader and his gang have gone full bore with destroying as much of the US as possible. Shredding the Constitution along the way and using union thugs just like Mao. It’s staggering when one realizes that these people are ruthless gangsters who will do anything to remove and silence their oppositon.

If this guy can change the Muslims in this country into people that share our values and principles he has my respect. Soros is the enemy of all citizens in the US because he is personally responcible for the downfall of this country now. Liberal puppets do not see this because they are blind. What is the most outstanding symbol in the US for the libs and dems? 50 years of power in Detroit city is the dead and dying legacy, everywhere the libs and dems go and rule they leave wasted and soon to be dead cities.

Nobody‘s saying he can’t speak — the question is why he’s qualified. The article‘s argument seems to be that you don’t have to be an expert to testify before Congress, and besides, Democrats do it, too.

Media Matters’ point is valid. Who does Dr. Jasser speak for? His support doesn’t come from other Muslims — it comes from you. He is Fox’s hand-picked, approved Muslim.

You want to know why more Muslims don’t support you? It‘s because you’re unbelievably, openly prejudiced against them.

Your comment shows an unbelieveable lack of understanding of the word prejudice. Prejudice is a pre-judging of anyone or any situation without facts or knowledge based solely on some physical characteristic or situational aspect. The term prejudice harkens back to a time when someone judged someone’s ability or anything else based solely on the color of their skin. Having said that I believe that the majority of commenters on this forum understand the danger of radical Islam (knowledge) and the majority of the comments are thoughtfully considered. I have not seen many comments that show any pre-judging of the facts or the consequences of radical Islam. You owwe an apology to the “Blazers”.

Although what I read about this Muslim, and his beliefs, sounds nice I wwould want to take it with a grain of salt and just watch him for awhile. Also, I would like to know where the other like minded Muslims are and why they are not standing in support of him. Makes me think he is in the definite minority. Additionally, if he believes what he is saying it is against the Quran and it’s teachings, as well as follow-up works held tightly by the majority of the Islamic world.

The notion of “moderate” Islam is a deception in itself. Any Muslim who promulgates such a lie engages in a subtle jihad appealing to the high virtues of our culture. It is the thinking jihad. To get you to accept Islam. But just a tiny little bit…it is very sweet. You will get more sweet, sweet Muslim lies later on…and more Islam.

Do not fall for the trap. Do not take the candy.

Instead invite the muslim to put down the Koran, apostate, and join our side in our fight against Jihad and Sharia.

The religious zealut radicals are the dangerous ones, are the minority, and are the ones with the power. I mean look at america right now the union in wisconsin wich is a very small minority has all the power to tie up there congress regardless of what is right and what the majority want to see done. This video was produced by CAIR – California

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NutFkykjmbM&feature=player_embedded

The video depicts a patriotic rally held outside a fundraiser for the Islamic Circle of North America, which supports the imposition of sharia law in the U.S. The keynote speakers for the evening—(supposedly meant to raise money for women’s shelters)—were Imam Siraj Wahhaj and Amir Abdel Malik Ali. As the Orange County Register reported::

Wahhaj is an imam at a mosque in Brooklyn. A U.S. attorney named him and 169 others as co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing…. Malik Ali is a Bay Area Islamic activist who spoke at ‘Israeli Apartheid Week’ at UC Irvine in 2010. There he said he supports Hezbollah, which the CIA labels a terrorist group.

The footage was shot by the local chapter of Hamas-linked CAIR—who were strongly motivated to find the ugliest images and most obnoxious quotes they could…. And this is the best they could do: A group of Americans peacefully gathered behind a barricade, chanting to the suited men and hijabed women who trooped into the event, “No sharia!” and “Go home!” Given that the event featured foreign-born supporters of terrorism and sharia law, these were not outrageous sentiments for Californians to express. Anything less would amount to servility.

Note that the rally was not a picket of a mosque full of peaceful Muslims, with no connections to militant groups, or public aspirations to impose Islamic law. It was aimed at a group of activists, who make no secret of their Islamic supremacism. The most “offensive” thing I could find on the video were some verbal references on the part of protesters to Muhammad’s marriage to Ayesha, and the fact that she was at the time only 9 years old. Now as good Americans and good sports, this might seem like it’s a “low blow.”

But is it really? Sharia law as it is interpreted in Iran (Hezbellah’s chief sponsor) indeed allows the marriage of girls at 9—a “reform” the Ayatollah Khomeni enacted shortly after coming to power. Given that ICNA calls for sharia in America, the protesters’ remarks were entirely fair. They were the cold, sober truth—which I’m proud and heartened to see Americans cast back in the teeth of our enemies here at home. The protesters in Orange County don’t hate people, they hate evil—an evil they see imposing itself by force in countries across the world. They hate “bin-Screwtape.”

      I’m proud of these Californians!

      @docgreen:
“I too wonder about Doc. Jasser, I know Glenn has had him on but I worry about the Wool being pooled over our Eyes! I don’t think you can get away from Islam being a hateful terrorist religion!”

Hey Doc…I too have been cautious and I think the dangerous times we live in dictate that we should be…However, Dr. Jasser is a devout Muslim. He is a physician in Arizona and an activist against Islamism (i.e., political Islam that can lead to Islamaic rule). He is a man I very much admire for his convictions and non-stop work to alert Americans about the dangers of political Islam. He has been rejected by many Islamic organizations in this country. But when he speaks, I pay attention.

He wrote an article titled: “Obama Administration Stacking the Deck with Islamists” . (you can google the title…sorry I don’t have the link handy)…

I know many people who call themselves “Christians”, and yet they have NEVER opened a Bible! I’d have to bet that there are many (so called) Muslims in America who have never read the Koran…AND…they are Americans content to live under the U.S. CONSTITUTION!

I was taught that a man is “known” by his works…therefore, I trust Dr. Jasser.

At least there is one – ONE conservative Muslim on the planet. It’s about time Muslims started taking a stand against the RADICAL Muslims causing so much trouble all over the world. It’s hard to believe all the violence and hatred that could come from MEN OF GOD, i.e. Muslim Clerics and Imams. I‘m sure Allah doesn’t want “the blood of non-believers” to run free in land ruled by these same Muslim clerics, even though the Clerics believe and espouse those ideas to their people(s).

Someone needs to remind Soros, the Muslims who believe in Shariah, want to kill ALL Jews!
Zuhdi believes in many of the same principles found in our Constitution.
If Islam was full of men like him, the world wouldn’t be threatened with a Caliphate, and we could all live in peace.

If Muslims can coexist with other religions as Jasser states I would support Islam. If they can’t well….
