SOTU: Boehner Counters Buffett’s Secretary Invite, Invites Keystone Supporters

Earlier today, it was reported that President Obama had decided to host Warren Buffet’s secretary for the State of the Union. Yes, that secretary. The one who reportedly pays a much higher tax rate than her multi-billionaire employer.
As most critics pointed out, the only reason the president is hosting her as his guest is so that he can drive home his messages of “income inequality” and “fair share.”
Apparently, House Speaker John Boehner was unimpressed by this move.
Late Tuesday afternoon, the House Speaker announced that he would host a handful of people who would have benefited if President Obama had approved the Keystone XL pipeline, according to The Washington Times.
“Mr. Boehner announced his guests as Ray Brooks, a manager at Marathon Petroleum Company,” reports the Post’s Stephen Dinan, “Jay Churchill, a manager at Conoco Phillips; Dale Delle, president of a pipe production company; and Nebraska state Sen. Chris Langemeier, a supporter of the pipeline.”
The president’s “disastrously short-sighted decision” last Wednesday to reject the Transcanada’s Keystone XL pipeline project has touched off a round of severe criticism for the Obama administration. The pipeline held the potential for not just energy, but also jobs.
Therefore, the message the House Speaker intends to send via the Keystone supporters seems fairly obvious: “Where are the jobs, Mr. President?”
The first lady’s box, where Buffett’s secretary will be seated. is to the president’s left. Speaker Boehner’s box is directly across the chamber to the president’s right.

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 6:52pmThis may have escaped your attention but there is another deliberative body – the Senate. Now, Harry Reid has sat on more than 60 pieces of legislation that the House has sent to them. Legislation that is an answer to your reflexive comment. But, I’m sure you know this and believe as the President, we need a dictator – remember it was the President that said he would just go around Congress whenever possible.
So, Harry’s job is to do nothing so the President can say that Congress has done nothing. You don’t expect the press to point this out, I’m sure. They have your perspective.
All you need to do is explain how giving the President trillions more dollars ultimately taken from the business owners and tax payers will stimulate the economy. Lets see how that works – make everyone poor so the political elite can rule over you. This is how Europe works (or not). With systemic unemployment at 17 to 25 percent this is where we are headed.
Think like a person that wants freedom and liberty and not envy and totalitarianism.

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 7:15pmBoehner should have invited an unemployed person. Maybe a dozen unemployed people as a “counter” to Obama’s one highly compensated employed person. If Obama wants more tax revenue, then he should create an atmosphere where the people he wants to tax to death can provide more jobs. Obama is an idiot. Better to let the private sector use their money to create more jobs, instead of robbing the rich to pay for bad loans to companies like Solindra and turtle tunnels.
Report Post »But anyone with any sense knows Obama’s real objective is to destroy America. Doing stuff like this is just a lame attempt at hiding it. Ain’t workin for me!…………..

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 7:58pmWell if we count the jobs for the new Air Force strike plane that just went to soros’ company in Brazil, that’s thousands of jobs in airplane production and off shore drilling to Brazil. All the American companies that go to China because they can’t afford to produce in America, numerous other jobs that have gone to Africa in their new efforts to boost their economies. Did Gibson Guitar actually win in the courts or are they going to obey the obama administrations edict and make their guitars in the home country of the wood? Anyone want to actually sleuth down just where the jobs have went? Remember, al gores cars are being made in Europe with our tax $’s !!!!

Report Post »It’s nice being able to vent. I am currently “between jobs” due to this economy and can point fingers at some on both sides including Bush and a few others on the right. Unfortunately I get a strong inclination to point a certain finger at those on the left who have had no problem expressing such feelings toward their opposition. And then seeing these scofflaws excused or even described as virtuous by elected officials is beyond the pale. I couldn’t sleep at night in that pack.

Buffet’s company Berkshire Hathaway, the eighth-largest public company in the world according to Forbes, openly admits to still owing taxes for years 2002 through 2004 and 2005 through 2009, according to the New York Post.
Maybe Obama will include that company when he speaks of his many ways to reduce the deficit.

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 6:42pm“I am waiting for the Blaze to report that Mitt pays even less taxes than Buffet”. Uh, well, what of it? I mean if Mitt made less than Warren, I would expect him to pay less. I rather expect that you pay less than I do…, but perhaps not. Either way, I do not begrudge you the fact that you may have paid less, and I can not imagine (unless you are envious) that you should begrudge me either. But perhaps we think differently.
Report Post »I get the sense that your plaint has to do with tax rates, rather than what you actually pay. If that is the case, and Mitt made less than Warren, then by the way our taxes are structured (i.e. progressively) then shouldn’t Mitt BE paying a lower rate…, insofar as earned income goes?
Honestly…, it is difficult to understand your point.

Posted on January 24, 2012 at 7:24pmwhat is 13% of 42 million (Romney) and what is 30% of 50000 (Buffets secretary). Who pays more tax? Why are the American people allowing MSNBC and all the others to keep pushing the B.S. that rich people pay less tax.$ 5 460 000 for Romney for two years and $30 000 for the secretary for two years.

Report Post »Mitt paid 13 cents per dollar in 2011. Secretary paid 30 cents per dollar.
If you think Mitt should pay a grand total of 30,000, and therefore contribute only as much as Buffett’s secretary, if you are for that sort of “fairness”, then you are an idiot, for the deficit would increase geometrically in an instant. It’s just math. Progressive taxation has been around for thousands of years, smart people long ago realized it is the only matehematical possibility of funding any society. Flat taxes don’t work. And that‘s not even what we’re talking about here. Mitt, and Warren and George all keep MORE of each earned dollar than I do, and, I suspect, you do. Milionaires and Billionires laugh their butts off at middle class people defending regressive taxes. The Koch brothers spend millions to encourage Joe Sixpacks to go to rallies and to the ballott box determined to make the poor pay their “fair share”, and to give the wealthy a well deserved break. You are voting against your own economic interests. If you and I had an extra thousand back on our taxes, we’d spend it, that creates jobs, that creates demand. If Mitt Romney has an extra million back on his taxes, it appears he’d stash in shelters in Switzerland and the Caymans, that creates wealth, for Mitt, not jobs for Americans.
