There‘s bad news coming in about our country’s porous border with Mexico.
First, that border may be more porous than we even realized. A U.S. official told the Senate Homeland Security Committee this week that only 129 miles of that nearly 2000-mile long U.S.-Mexico border is secure.
CNS News reports:
Richard M. Stana, director of homeland security and justice issues at the Government Accountability Office (which is responsible for “auditing agency operations to determine whether federal funds are being spent efficiently and effectively”), told the Senate Homeland Security Committee yesterday that the federal government can actually prevent or stop illegal entries into the United States along only 129 miles of the 1,954-mile-long U.S.-Mexico border.
That leaves 1,825 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border where the Border Patrol cannot prevent or stop an illegal entry.
Nonetheless, Stana told the committee, the Border Patrol itself says it has established “an acceptable level of control” along 873 miles of the 1,954-mile-long southwest border. This is because of the way the Border Patrol defines “an acceptable level of control” of the border.
That’s not the only threat to border security. Down on the Texas-Mexico border, the drug war is putting U.S. agents at grave risk.
The AP reports:
Mexican drug cartel members threatened to kill U.S. agents working on the American side of the border this month, a Texas congressman said Thursday.
Republican Michael McCaul said a law enforcement bulletin was issued this month warning that Mexican gangsters were overheard plotting to kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and Texas Rangers stationed along the border. McCaul did not identify which cartels or what agency issued the bulletin.
Don Reay, executive director of the Texas Border Sheriff’s Coalition, said threats against American law enforcement officials along the border are nothing new.
“We get almost periodic reports of some informant saying there is a bounty” on U.S. authorities, Reay said. “We realize the potential is there, the threat is there.”
The latest bulletin warned of a plot to shoot at the agents with AK-47 assault rifles from the Mexican side of the border into the U.S.
Reay said he couldn’t comment on the specific threat McCaul mentioned, but said it was proof that a serious security threat remains along the U.S. border with Mexico. Members of Congress have asked the administration to get what they call “operational control” of the Mexican and Canadian borders. But they define that as meaning no “unlawful entries into the United States”, including drugs, terrorists and illegal immigrants, a definition Homeland Security officials call unrealistic.
More than 35,000 people have been killed in Mexico’s drug war since President Felipe Calderon launched an offensive against the drug gangs shortly after taking office in late 2006.
Numerous U.S. citizens have been caught up in the violence. In February, ICE agent Jaime Zapata was shot and killed, and agent Victor Avila was wounded, in a roadside ambush in Mexico.

This administration has to be unique in that any of our officers on the border shoot in self defense they are tried for murder or attempted murder without mercy or reason. Yet the druggies are given no or little time at best.

On September 26, 2006, President Bush urged Congress to consider revising federal laws so that U.S. armed forces could restore public order and enforce laws in the aftermath of public emergencies. Read the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007 (H.R. 5122), which was signed into law on October 17, 2006.
Section 1076: “Use of the Armed Forces in major public emergencies.” It provided that:
The President may employ the armed forces… to… restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition… the President determines that… domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order… or [to] suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such… a condition… so hinders the execution of the laws… that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law… or opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.
In short… Obama has no ****** to enforce the law.

The Military CAN do it, but there is no political will in this administration, since their goal includes the destruction of USA and its borders! Our worst enemies are within!
An interesting read in how this act came to be, and clearly use to protect the NATIONAL borders is not prohibited, but the UNIONS that represent the border patrol might be threatened also if the Military started to do the job… Just another thing to consider…

The gun that killed ICE Agent Brian Terry in Arizona was one that the drug cartel member left at the scene. It was one that our ATF agents sold to the drug dealers. It’s being investigated.

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 12:52amDarmok – I am from Colorado and am utterly embarassed that our state has no interest in protecting voting rights. When I regisered to vote, the from asked for all my info – little did I know they would just rubber stamp it and register anyone who filled out a form. For years I have wondered why my state has gone from red to blue (other than having the University of Colorado indoctinating our youth), and now I know the answer.
I hope this is a wake up call to States all across the country, but I doubt it. Our Senate election was decided by illegals, and maybe others were too, in other states (Nevada is a prime suspect as well). We could be looking at a Republican controlled Senate right now.

The fact that our president is a bonehead doesn’t mean he has the power to flush this nation down the toilet. We will survive anything he does. Starting with SCOTUS declaring Obamacare unconstitutional. And all I can say about that is the court had better get this case soon while it still holds a slim conservative majority. The liberal justices don’t even want us to own weapons.

They are supposed to “repel foreign invaders” and we have thousands of illegals and terrorists walking across our border daily. I would agree, and I would suggest that we simply practice common sense: build the fence; enforce all of our immigration laws; mandate E-Verify nationwide; end the “Anchor Baby” loophole; and end all tax-paid benefits, including education and health care, to illegal aliens.
Now if only we had members of Congress with common sense!

That was just one instance, and it was last year. TWO DAYS ago, in Golfito, C.R., detectives in the anti-drug squad raided a house where more suspects were known to be hiding. While inside, a car passed and threw out a powerful pipe bomb in an effort to kill, maim, and/or intimidate the officers. The Mexicans are feared more than the Columbians now, more than the Venezuelans. FOX absolutely HAS to do a story(ggod one for Sr. Rivera) on the cartel-constructed FLEET of mini subs that have a steady route to Cabo San Lucas , EVERY WEEK. 2-4 TONS per trip; 30 trips a month. ALL to Mexico, then into U.S. There’s another cartel who have the “rights” to the Atlantic maritime op. and ANOTHER one has the rights to Land transport( false bottoms, etc., in trucks). Neopolitano is a LIAR. They will now reduce apprehensions , letting more illegals in. Why? The “independents are not coming back to Barry’s side. Need more voters? viva ,Mexico !

Unfortunately our politicians tout intervention by showing the public a dog and pony show with every huge bust. So the public doesn’t see the 99% that makes it through. It would be comparable to Janet Neonazi pointing to a small pyramid about 1 foot high proclaiming the effectiveness of law enforcement that found it, when in fact that tiny little pyramid is like the top rock on a massive pyramid miles deep.
