‘South Park’ Jihadist Gets 25 Years in Prison for Advocating Murder

A Virginia man who called for the murder of the creators of “South Park” was sentenced to spend 25 years in prison Thursday.

South Park Jihadist Gets 25 Years in Prison for Advocating Murder

Home-grown jihadist Zachary Chesser

After Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s hit animated series aired an episode that portrayed the Muslim prophet Mohammad as a man in a bear costume, Zachary Chesser wrote multiple internet posts calling for Stone and Parker to “wind up like Theo Van Gogh,” the Dutch filmmaker murdered in 2004 by a radical Muslim extremist who objected to the portrayal of Islam in one of his films.

Chesser also faced charges for trying on at least two past occasions to join al-Shabab, a terrorist group based in Somalia. In addition, a number of Chesser’s internet posts encouraged like-minded individuals to leave suspicious packages in public places across the U.S. in order to purposefully assuage suspicion so real bombs planted in the future could go undetected.

Chesser also encouraged violence against individuals planning to participate in “Everybody Draw Mohammad Day.”

In October, Chesser pleaded guilty to charges that he provided material support to terrorists and made threats of violence.

“Zachary Chesser will spend 25 years in prison for advocating the murder of U.S. citizens for engaging in free speech about his religion,” U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride said Thursday. “His actions caused people throughout the country to fear speaking out — even in jest — to avoid being labeled as enemies who deserved to be killed.”

Even the most harmless parody can send muslims postal, which is the reason for the parody in the first place.
It is a self fulfilling prophecy.

I have mixed feelings here. He is expressing his 1st Amendment rights and shouldn’t be going to jail, or even trial. However, he did mention that what needs to be done to Stone and Parker and that is to have them have the same fate as Van Goh. These fanatics have the will, the money, and support of their community to go out and kill these ppl. But do we destroy someones freedom of speech for the sake of safety? Thomas Jefferson would say no, and if we do this who or what other group is next that will say something that is offensive?

jzs: This case seemed flimsy. The justice department weren‘t fishing for information this patsy obviously didn’t know. The justice department is setting a precedent of prosecution of homegrown terrorists. My only concern is the long view of the Justice Department. My guess there will be a few more Muslim patsies before the start going after the main dish. The also serves to their anti-military and anti-military justice system position.

Not sure I follow the wisdom of putting this guy in prison to proselytize and convert more thugs to his particular brand of crazy…. The penal system has long been known to be a breeding ground for Muslim radicals. Sure, he’s where he should be, but it sure seems to me this guy won‘t care and he’ll be celebrated by the “blow yourself up for fabulous prizes” gang.

I loathe South Park, but I think this is a just sentencing. He is dumb enough that he will push his agenda in prison and end up on the pointy end of a shank. Criminals or not, most of the men in prison are still pro American.

As soon as you see the first indication of a terrorist hammer the crap out of them. PUT THEM AWAY FOR 50 YEARS JUST FOR STARTERS.

Honestly, they guy didn’t act on his words, and it still falls under freedom of speech. The guy in the right. However, so are the South Park creators for the same reason. For a mere threat, I don‘t think it’s a jail-able offense. How often have we said to someone “I’m going to kill you!” to mean, i’m going to beat you up? Screw the PC of it. It’s just speech and everyone, no matter what is said has the right to say it.

I may not like what is being said, but I’ll stand up for the right to say it.

Threatening to kill people and telling others to kill people do not fall under free speech. They are illegal and always have been. I’m pretty much a first amendment fanatic, but that’s the one exception that has never been seriously disputed – threatening to kill people in a way that makes them feel like you really mean it.
