Spanish Bull Fatally Gores Third Man In Ten Years

A Spanish official says a killer bull has claimed another victim, after goring to death a 29-year-old man during festivities in the eastern Valencia region.
A regional government official says the man, whose name was not released, died at a hospital in the town of Xativa late Saturday.
The 1,100-pound (500-kilogram) bull — named “Raton,” or mouse — has killed two other members of the public during festivals over 10 years. Because of Raton’s fearsome reputation, his owners earn euro10,000 (around $14,000) each time he appears at a festival.
Television images on Sunday showed the man being tossed in the air and then hit along the ground in Xativa’s bullring. In Spain, many summer festivals highlight bull runs in streets or bullrings, where revelers can come close to the fearsome beasts..
NPR reports that witness accounts cited by Valencia‘s Las Provincias newspaper Sunday said the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and had been escorted back to his seat in the stands during the bull run immediately before Raton’s appearance.
The man was said to have then made his way back down to the ring and was charged and tossed powerfully by the large black-and-white bull.
Bullfighting, a popular Spanish sport with the goal of fatally stabbing the bull deep in the shoulder blades at the end of the ‘show’, can trace its origins in Spain back to 711 A.D. When bulls in a bull run, like the event in Valencia’s festival, finally reach the end of the street they go into pens where they are kept until killed later that day in a bullfight.
In May of last year, a matador miraculously survived a half-ton bull goring his throat with the horn exiting his mouth.

So this bull earns MORE money for its owners because it has KILLED people? Killing people is obviously part of the business plan.
WTF. Rollerball anyone?

Report Post »Islesfordian
Posted on August 14, 2011 at 5:46pmWell, the guy gored “to death” didn’t really survive. And snce this bull has killed two others over the last ten years it seems he isn‘t dispatched to the bullfights like the others that don’t kill people.
The story is actually badly written that way.

Posted on August 14, 2011 at 6:14pmeh, who uses The Blaze for news anyway? I get my news from real sources. Heck, even yahoo runs stories half a day before The Blaze gets them. The one they just ran about Obama starting his political counteroffensive this week was interesting. I have been waiting for The Blaze to run it so I can read the amusing comments. That is what this site is good for, it gives a feel for what the average person is saying.

Posted on August 14, 2011 at 5:39pmIt astounds me that just because it is a free forum, people feel they MUST taint the comments with religious overtones such as yours. Who the Hell cares, (besides you).
Report Post »If I were manning the Pearly gates, I would question this idiot who voluntarily risked his life for a temporary high.
Either way, I do not wish to hear, read, or suffer the continued aggravation of yet another religious nutcase who still has not figured out that LIVING your life to the fullest is what the free will thingy is all about.
Do right by your fellow man, and teach what you learned. These are GODS tenets, and he will reward you. Not because you read a chapter and verse in a book.
Think of this if you can, you have at the most 80 to 90 years to LIVE.
The rest of eternity (by your standards) you will be staring in awe at a glorified figure and you won’t care for anything else every again for the rest of time, EVER, FOREVER.
Wow, when I put it like that, I really want to use God’s gifts to live, and free will to think and grow and leave my legacy rather be forgotten like most are.
Either way this ain’t the place for you to convert someone by posting your crude website.
UGH!!!!

You‘re precious self gets so offended reading something religious that you decide you don’t want to give someone their right of free speech. Perhaps the Huffington Post is more your style.
