‘Speaks With the Voice of the Enemy’: Watch S.E. Cupp Spar With Co-Panelists in First ‘Cycle’ Show

MSNBC’s “The Cycle,” apparently meant to be something like a four person recreation of Fox’s “The Five” with mostly progressive hosts, and modeled after a “Dinner Party,” debuted today. And ordinarily, we would assume most readers of this site wouldn’t care, except for one big item: S.E. Cupp is the show’s token conservative, a fact for which we have to give MSNBC credit. They at least found someone with unimpeachable credentials.

With that said, if today’s ending segment is any guide, the show is going to place a lot of emphasis on Cupp’s token status. In a closing segment explaining what “The Cycle” is all about, Cupp’s cohost Toure singled her out by name multiple times – albeit mostly in a good natured fashion – and also defended her being on the show.

Toure’s defense – as well as his idea of whether obstructionism is or is not ‘American’ – was questionable, at least if you assume the Founding Fathers have the last word on this topic. His description of conservatives as “the enemy,” and his half-serious accusation that Cupp herself “speaks with the voice of the enemy,” was also troubling. However, the conversation stayed civil, and indeed, based on this segment, and on the rest of the show, it was clear that Cupp did not need anyone to leap in and defend her honor. She was more than equipped to defend her perspective, perhaps too well equipped for the comfort of her co-panelists in some cases. For instance, consider her exchange with co-host Krystal Ball on the topic of illegal immigration:

    Oh, hey, we’re still pretending that S.E. is a legit Conservative? I mean, she’s a nice girl and all (probably), but she has proven she will absolutely compromise her beliefs and values (atheist defending religion to get her hands in Evangelical’s wallets, anyone?) for a paycheck.

      Yeah, the clip speaks for itself alright. Watch and listen to it.

      I haven’t listened to this Cupp woman. But if she’s well spoken, that’s something FOX would never do. FOX would never put a liberal on a show unless they were sure other people couldn’t make them look foolish, like they do that drunken illiterate guy on the five show.

      come on so she is not “legit” cause she is athiest? im athiest and conservative as well. I think she has and is doing a fantastic job. she puts forward facts and her opinion and she backs them up fluently. if conservative means christian then 99.999999% of the conservatives here are not close to being legit. alot of conservative need to wake up.       After the failed attempt to oust Scott Walker,……..you, Encinom and the crew were all complaining about being outspent by some absurd amount, (which was untrue, btw).

      But just for giggles, lets assume it was true. Why would that have mattered JZS? So what if they were able to run more ads than the dems?

      Is it your belief that the liberal population of Wisconsin is so stupid, gullible, and bereft of core principles that they were tricked in to voting for Walker by a bunch of slick ad spots?

      Is that what you are claiming?

      I can see no other way that money might have affected the outcome.

      Can someone help me understand when they talked about religion? Man I missed that. Cupp is going to get smoked. In the intro to the show, the brotha says they don’t want to shut out the voice of the enemy, but we do want to make sure it is viewed as the minority right wing radical view. See, if we can paint them as radical, and a very small percentage then the rest of you left wingers will feel better about being in the majority. Even though you are not. We will also be able to herd the people that can’t think for themselves to our side because, don’t you want to be in the majority? How can the majority be wrong?

      I also liked how they don’t dislike Cupp, they only dislike her views. Isn’t that who the person is? Its their view and opinion that shapes who they actually are. I guess I’m old fashioned and judge people on the character not how they look. That is the rationale of the left – they can burn your house down with protests, and throw chairs through your window, because they just dislike your views, don’t worry they still respect and care for you as a person. Because, after all if they did those things because they actually dislike you, well that is just wrong and hateful, they can’t be seen as that.

There is no meat to any of the conversation, least of all anything that Cupps says outside of introducing the topic.

      JZS is another one of these liberals that apparently NEVER watches Fox but somehow is an expert on them. Anyone who watches Fox knows that AS A RULE, whenever there is a panel, be it on an opinion show like Hannity, or the Five, or another program throughout the day, much more often than not, a liberal is on to provide the liberal position on the topic du jour.

      MSNBC putting SE on is the exception on the network, but apparently they are learning from Fox….both views makes for better programming…if this show is successful the “news” actors on MSNBC such as Matthews, Schultz, Maddow , Larry and the rev…as well as the daytime phonies like Andrea Mitchell, Bashir and Wagner, and the weekend morons like Chris Hayes, and the racist Melissa Harris Perry are in trouble, because they will have to show an alternate point of view, all their lies and half truths…you know the things they accuse Fox of doing…….will be exposed…or they will stand on principle and be fired and go work for Current TV….as a matter of fact, Mika may have to stop dressing in her Obama cheerleader outfit and leave the Obama PomPoms at home…….LOL

      As I said when this story was first put on the Blaze, with all due respect to Miss Cupp I have zero, nada, NO interest in watching MSNBC try to mimic Fox’s “The Five” (which I dont‘ watch either because of Beckel’s noxious presence). The sooner MSNBC is relegated the the dung heap of liberal failures the better for everyone. And no..I’m not giving MSNBC any credit either, they get their talking points from Media Matters, they crop and manipulate photos and footage to create talking points routinely. If MSNBC believes they can draw in some independent viewers from Fox they’re kidding themselves.

According to Fat Eddie Schlitz on MSNBC, he believes it was Obama’s “god guns and bigots” that tipped the scales in Walker’s favor (thanks to those magical dollar amounts JZS fears so much). Yes Eddie went to that well although he was careful to catch himself and not offer the “bigots” part of the quote. He believes these Svengali-esque “lots of money” ads that ENCIDIOT/MONICNE/SLEAZY HIPPO, JZS, JROOK (and the rest of the SS Minnow) that magically transform voters into voting for Walker “scared” the “rurual folks” into voting for Walker.       Just because they choose not to believe in a higher power does not mean,they won’t defend your right to believe. I hope all atheist come to God sooner or later in their lives,but that choice is theirs & theirs alone. I will defend their right to not believe,just as I will defend your right to believe.I don’t think the same way as Baptist or Catholics,but I feel they should practice their faith as they see fit & I will always defend that,as long as it’s not being shoved down my throat or my families throat. Although I must say,if you read her thoughts, S.E. sounds more like a deist Christian than an Atheist.

WOW! he already makes the bold asumption that they are better than conservatives. Calls S.E. there enemy. The Cycle is the perfect name for a show like this on MSNBC because thats all they are doing by putting this show on the air is repeating the cycle. This is nothing new from MSNBC same recyled progressive garbage. The Blaze should start a website where we can pick dates and whomever gets the closest on guesing which day these three events will hapen gets a signed book.

    Scalia was spot on, these talking heads have never read the constitution and furthermore they don’t understand that the USA is a group of United Sovereign States….meaning when the Feds fail to protect the border, it is the duty of the State to step in! Amnesty under W failed because Conservatives sent a ton of messages to Republican Congressmen and Women and told them if they do it, they are finished, hence the nomination of McCain and we stayed home on election day (I voted for Ron Paul)!

      Actually, I would have to disagree. There are a number of leftists out there who aren’t morons, they’ve just been spoon-fed lots of rhetoric and crap all their lives. From time to time, some will jump the fence when they finally hear some logic and rationality. If S.E. can save just a few of them, it’s worth it. And let’s not forget that she might just be there to keep them honest and/or feed our side intel.

      Thanks for your insult, moron, but if you hired someone to represent your network, and then that person said “hey I got a better job offer with Donald Trump,or Al Sharpton, or Rachel Maddow, see ya later” I think you might be a bit peeved. As stated, I believe Glenn must in fact be a bit peeved. One day,you may have enough money to actually employ people to work for you-but it’s easier for me to explain the Dead Sea scrolls to a dingleberry like you than it is to detail standard media practice.

      This is great for Both S.E. and Glenn, S.E as far as I know has not left the blaze or GBTV. Glenn ralizes he has a star in S.E. wether you agree with her or not, she knows how to get media attention. Anytime you see her on TV its good for Glenn, it’s a form of free advertising for him. You may think Glenn is a moron when it comes to politics but one thing he is good at is marketing.

Beyond the cutesy-pie pretentiousness of someone who’s opinion is supposed to have some weight going by just one name, the condescending tone in that twit’s voice just in the introduction put me off before even 20 seconds had elapsed. Hope they’re paying you well, S.E., and that you either got the money up front or your contract is iron-clad, ’cause this thing’s gonna crater bigger than the one in Arizona!

      Oh my gosh, that ‘tourette/torue’ is pure torture! So they traded Ratigan and Bashir for this afternoon crap? Guess it was an even trade.     Ok, I have chatted with S.E. several times on my show. I like her. She’s a good gal; though, I must say that after watching this abhorrent program, THE CYCLE, she can do better. She is surrounded by idiots that love to say…”to that point…” I gave it my full attention and the show sucks eggs like a weight lifter before an olympic event. Get out while you can, S.E….MSNBC will ruin you.

      The only thing S.E. brought to that show was eye candy. How can anyone argue with the stupidity the others demonstrated. Krystal Nuts thinks she knows more than Scalia? I was dazzled by Krystal’s keen legal instincts, which one‘s I’m not sure. Krystal is as stupid as S.E, is attractive.

      We finally got the Feds to send planes with slurry; I think we may be on the way to containment; 5 percent at present in the Springs. My friend, Michelle Malkin had to leave her home but is well. NO structures or human life has been lost in this fire. God is good!
